Founder and CEO of The Idle Man, Oliver Tezcan is seeking an investment of £200,000 in return for a 5.5% equity stake. Based on Oliver's three-year forecast, he believes a valuation at the end of the forecast of £25 million, which should deliver the Dragons a 7X return of their initial investment, but when the Dragons figure out they're apart of a wider fundraising round, things go left...

The investor's got out... It sold in 2019 to Oasis and Warehouse. They did go bust but then cashed out in the buy out and then oasis went bust.

Maurice, I don't think you understand how this works. Oasis and Warehouse bought this business in September last year, meaning all the investors got a big payday and walked away. O&W went into receivership seven months later. For O&W investors, that's called a successful exit.

Most of those "deals" never get finalized anyway. After the investor says they will invest, it goes to further terms negotiations, and all the paperwork and lawyers. Most deals fall flat before signing the contract.

Loads of these types of modern spiv in London, talking a great game but have never even ran a successful business, they live purely off free money from investors. Will spend £3 to earn £1 and call themselves an entrepreneur while spending most their time living the high life on the Bolivian marching powder. The real problem is that money is too cheap, meaning that to get any decent return investors and banks go too far along the risk curve, ending up in spivs pockets with their BS business plans, which are purely a cover to fund their lifestyle and cocaine habit.

I do think it's a bit boring when companies come onto Dragon's Den/Shark Tank and are looking to raise funds as part of a larger fundraising round. So I can understand that frustration on the part of the investors. However, it is also nice to see them not take total advantage of someone. Touker's offer of 60% for example was a transparent non-offer offer for which upon rejection he could use as an excuse to make the guy look like he didn't want to do a deal in the first place.

The guy had a 42% shareholding. If he cared that much about getting a dragon on board, he had plenty of room to dilute his own shareholding and still remain above the second largest shareholder.

The second largest shareholder was at 38%, so he could have offered about 3% to 3.5% more if needed. He did say he had a little room to negotiate.

Anything they do on there isn't final, it's just a verbal, informal agreement. I would have accepted Touker's (insulting) offer at 60% just to see his reaction then later, off-camera tell him i'm declining because i've just got word from another investor with a better offer.

I do also find it insulting to be asked for money, my connections and exposure so that 94,5% of the rest of a not-yet profitable company stakeholders don't go bankrupt 🤷🏼‍♀️ for that reason I'm.. Oh, forget it!

Often watch Dragons Den … it’s real drama real people with emotion included. Can’t wait for new series. Quite like the Aussie DD but prefer UK version . Far superior I think

Touker has always been my favourite. Always sad to see how entrepreneurs avoid him and go for the more "cooler" dragons or the long established PJ. Touker really knows his stuff. he'd be my preferred dragon anyday.
