Well in this case this guy would've walked out without a penny in his pocket had he not mentioned his other business. He came across as being quite alert and I think he might have mentioned his other business consiously for this exact reason.

I know it ALWAYS makes me cringe when someone makes a half hearted plea like that but answers the question in the way they ask it. It makes it SO easy for the other person to say no because you've already added the escape. 'You wouldn't do this, would you', no, no I wouldn't. It's such a school boy error in negotiation.

To be fair this is one of the first times I've seen where asking for both businesses to be in one package made sense (in terms of how peter normally is going after businesses that aren't even slightly similar fields). This pitch was ultimately one business. The first time I'd say Peter's idea was fair and not just straight greedy

@@peterpan4038 He doesn't have to be rude; he has to be convincing. They're taking a stake in his company at risk and want to understand if he's worth the investment. If you say you will do better, you have to provide an explanation of how and in greater detail then "your van sucked!" and "my van is unique." If you have done better then provide evidence such as sales figures.

Deal probably didn't go through because the guys other business didn't make 100k+ per year. Even if it did what you said makes no sense because a growing can't afford to just take 1/3 of their net profits and hand it to an investor if they plan to grow quickly, which he would have to do if his company ended up being successful since other companies with more money would just copy him and put him out of business if he hasn't grabbed a large enough percentage of the market.

Right after peter initially asked about his other biz, he said he makes 100k-120k annually. I'm not 100% certain on what it is/does, but it sounded like his current biz is selling sandwiches from trucks w/o the ice cream machine.

What most people dont seem to understand is that if people have another company but that one is not included it merely means its excluding its liability. So if the new company blows up the investors money is gone. But the other company is just continuing with its own cash. I can understand why an investor will not feel safe with that kind of construction. So basically its understandable from both sides. And not being greedy.

Don't get me wrong guys, but I just don't understand why so many people are still looking for cheap chilled food and loads of sugar. No offense but you can have much healthier alternatives for almost the same price. I speak from experience. Yesterday I made lamb with roast potatoes and I just re-heated it at my workplace today. Nice and convenient! Buy fresh ingredients, cook simple food and forget about junk!
