Confidence is great, but you also need to show why your valuation is justified. Thats the entrepreneur's responsibility, not the Dragons'. In this case, their idea and tech was pretty solid and kept the Dragons interested, but if that wasn't the case, they'd be out of the den in half the time.

So why do you think they do that? Because it's persuasion techniques. If you come to a pitch already appearing that you have an underhand, then what you get is people getting the better of you. Think of it like a tough job interview- it’s the interviewers role (especially in a high level type job where you would be required to work under high stress) to ask you tough questions, and make you squirm to a certain extent to see how you handle the pressure and attitude, and it’s your job as the interviewee to be respectful and polite, yet confident, and show them why you would be great asset and have a great personality and how you would handle possible ‘difficult or confrontational situations’ and people, which is needed in business. Peter is often deliberately playing a confrontational role to see how the entrepreneurs react.
