In this video I will explain how to launch a paraglider in the forward launch configuration. Watch this and learn the easy way how to forward launch a paraglider. Beginner or advanced, knowing how to launch a paraglider the right way, is very important for every pilot. Here are the steps you need to follow for a successful paraglider launch.
#Paraglidertips #Paragliding101 #Paraglidinglaunch
Forward launching your paraglider is the first way you are going to learn in the flying school. The whole secret is in your body movements. Here is a list of the steps you need to take in consideration when you do a forward launch:
Steps
1. Spread your wing neatly on the ground. Wide and open!
2. Check your lines and untangle them if needed.
3. Make sure to position yourself in the middle of your glider. This is going to
help you to achieve a symetrical rising of your wing when you launch.
4. Pay attention at the right locking of your risers in through the carabiners.
5. If strong wind - weak impulse; If weak wing - strong impulse
6. When you start running and you slowly bring the glider over your head, pull
the wing with your body, hips, shoulders. Do not pull with your hands on
the risers.
7. When the paraglider is almost over your head, continue walking fast use
the breaks, stop it over your head, stabilize, check the wing and the lines
and once everything is ok, you can accelerate and take off.

Launching the paraglider properly is a task that can be difficult at times. Doesn't matter if you are a beginner or advanced pilot, chances are that you had some bad launches too. I had a lot of fun making this video and I hope I explained well enough all the aspects of a correct forward paragliding launch. The first launch is at 06:54. If you have any questions, write them in the comment section. Check out my awesome paragliding adventures: cutt.ly/yrrWMnI. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE if you enjoyed the video. I appreciate!

The twist to attach it to your carabiner is a bit fault-sensitive. A better method is to lay the risers over you shoulder with the A-lines on top and attach it to the carabiners which you hold upwards, but always with the open on the inside. This is only possible in 1 way and always correct. If you use the twist-method and twist it the wrong way, your lines are tangled.

If you set your wing on a ground circular and not straight, you will pull A’s first and ensure better filling a wing by air.

Interesting, please don't take this as criticism. I find it interesting to see different ways and variants. We (just) learned at our school that mostly the rookies of us made the beginning impulse to strong and have been focusing lately on a smoother initial impulses for pulling the wing up. Max 2 steps behind the line center. The wing rises more open on the trailing edge and fills up quicker. After that, when the wing is just above ground running speed, of course, needs to be increased.
@Dvybz
@Dvybz 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I know. I heard that theory too. Is ok, m8, I don't take it in a bad way. If you got no wind at all, the 2 steps won't help. In the moment I pulled, I had 0 wind. I tried off camera with just 2 steps and I was just dragging the wing behind me. I can run pretty fast and it didn't help at all. Of course most of the times the conditions are not as bad as I had them in my video (zero wind). Usually when you take off, you are on a hill, or a mountain. The wind is usually stronger there than on a meadow. 2 steps are normally enough, but not for me in that wind situation. I wish you a lot of fun flying✌️

@@Dvybz thx for that reply. Yeah it is definitely easier to get it up and it is absolutely safe with more impulse. Both ways have advantages in certain situations. I'm enjoying your videos, but a couple of points: 1)Forward launching means there's insufficient wind for reverse launch.... ...so it's MUCH safer to put the harness on the ground, and attach the risers without being clipped in. You can then check everything is connected correctly, including the speed-bar links, radio, vario, etc, and put your helmet and gloves on, at your own pace = no errors. There's NO chance of a sudden gust dragging you, while you have made a mistake attaching the wing to the harness. 2) Setting the wing in an inverted V-shape is best. Certainly on higher cert. wings. 3) Forward launching means the conditions are not ideal for flying, so ALWAYS forward launch with another pilot. He/she can check your wing when you start your run, and shout "STOP!!!" if they see a problem. Regards, Simon

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Yeah, I will keep this in mind. I know it is safer to put the harness on when everything else is done... I should have mentioned that in the video. The focus of the video was more the technical procedure of the forward launching itself but I think I could have mentioned the 100% safe way of doing it 👍🏼

I don't think a big impulse is needed even if there is no wind. But rather a progressive acceleration. Check this comparaison : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLKSoaVo0b7el4E.html

I got you. I watched the video and it is of course working like that too. I should have maybe gone a bit more in the depth of the forward launch, but I wanted to keep it easy. 2 small steps could have maybe been enough but I wanted to make sure that everyone doing that, can achieve an inflation in zero wind. Thanks for the vid and comment ✌️

The chest strap was the last one I closed. If you mean the little thingy kind of strap... Well, that is not necessary. Is just giving you an extra safety feeling but it does not really matter. I used to close that little black strap too but that was years ago. Sometimes I still close, just like that.
