Strange that something that works so well is almost unheard of in the UK and virtually unobtainable! I have found one though and am waiting for it to arrive. However no one (and I've looked at a few videos now) has said anything about what will happen if you have a P-trap with an AAV (air admittance valve) fitted to it - which mine does. I guess in a couple of days I'll know!

You should be ok as long as the AAV is installed at the proper height. Start slow and keep an eye on it just in case it starts to backup. If you use the drain king for maintenance and slow drains (before 100% clogged) you'll likely never have an issue because it works pretty fast - here's more on AAVs - diy.stackexchange.com/questions/151849/should-a-brand-new-aav-be-able-to-leak-water

AAV install best practices - air admittance valves (AAVs) are designed to let air into a pipework system, not out. AAVs are gravity-operated devices that open to allow air in when water drains, and then close to keep sewer gases out. However, some issues with AAVs can cause wastewater to come up from the soil pipes into the sink. Other signs of an AAV problem include unwanted smells or gurgling sounds. AAVs should be installed at least 4 inches above the horizontal branch drain, 6 inches above insulation, and within 15 degrees of vertical. They also shouldn't be permanently covered and should be installed in an area that allows air to enter the valve.

Well my bladder arrived and I found that I could not use it because it has an American thread GHT (Garden Hose Thread - 11.5 tpi) which is oh so close to what we use in the UK BSP (British Standard Thread - 14 tip). Why oh why did Americans have to make a new and unique thread for no good reason at all! 😡. In the end I sealed the pipe end with a rubber bung with a hole in the middle and blew the blockage out with compressed air. The AAV did not create a problem.

I never attach the stopper to those things underneath the sink. I just let the stopper drop in loose so I can remove it any time I want with no hassle.

Well, if it were just me, it would probably be fine for a while, but with women in the house, that seems impossible, lol. I'll sure get my $$$ worth out of this thing! 👍

I would flush/clean one side at a time and close the drain/stopper on the opposite one while cleaning 👍

Hi Juan, my drain has the stopper rod that comes through the pipe. Once the drain cap is removed, you can reinstall the cap to seal the opening or just insert the Drain King a little lower as long as it seals the opening once the water is turned on to clean the drain.

If the block is past the trap wouldn't the water just go up the vent?

Hi Dimica, good guestion! I guess anything is possible, but that would be a case where you would have some type of total, solid blockage and just happen to have the vent close by. As stated, this is a perfect tool for maintenance. A solid blockage would be a totally different issue/failure, and problem.

Hi Ace, for minor clogs and for regular preventive maintenance this shouldn't happen as you are only operating it for maybe 1-3 minutes, max. That duration won't fill up the pipe in that nature. For a major, total clog you would likely need to have it snaked or call plumber.

Can i used on bathtub drain.. I put in bathtub but i was afraid it will bust the ballon since not all the way in.. Can i do it

Hi Sarah, it needs to fit down in the drain at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the way in, otherwise yes it will just keep expanding. My sink is borderline, so I don't turn it wide open for more than a few seconds. It will still work with partial pressure. The main thing is a secure fit, you can "throttle" the water pressure as needed.

Maybe at 150psi...but typically residential water pressure us between 40-60psi...remember this tool just hooks to the tap or faucet...and the use is a short duration. 👍

Your best bet is to take the trap off in the first place and put the device directly in the line coming out of the wall. He couldn't do this easily due to the style of sink he has.

this "whole house system ties into the main water feed line to your home and no drains are needed with this "salt-free" system. Thats why I prefer it - no drains, no waste brine water, etc.

You are right, there are always multiple ways to approach and fix an issue. This method, also allows you to clean the entire drain from the trap to the stopper 👍

@@myoldhousefix Yeah most people jsut want to fix the issue and be done. That’s jsut a bonus.. besides a hose hookup can be challenging for some. And who wants to drag a hose in their house lol. Idk, I’d rather fix it and be done, I do get where this would be beneficial for certain situations, I say jsut fix the clog and move on. Lol

@@AverageReviewsYT check out the video, the short section of hose quickly connects directly to your sink faucet for ease of use. Literally takes 5 min or less to hook up, clean, amd disconnect. 👍

Hi, some folks do get grossed out with moldy drain gunk. I grew up around farms and woods in Alabama, so it doesn't bother me at all. I've rolled around in everything 😁

You could have just used a qtip stuck in the drain give it a few twists and you would pull out gobs of hair and your drain would be open.

True, but it's also a good method to keep all the stinky "gunk" washed away, and from building up in the pipe...it all gets a bit of a power wash to keep it clean...and keeps the p trap clean.

Hardly. If you knew me, which you do not...you'd know that my dirtiest job was crawling INSIDE the fuel tanks of M1 Abrams to remove them...covered in JP4 and DF-2. Thanks for the kind and constructive comments 👍
