My personal experience being there Tyler came out before the set and asked if he could bring a few friends out for the next hour. Of course, everybody went nuts. Asap and uzi both performed 2 songs each. When Drake came out, from what I could tell nobody was disappointed. I think we all expected him to do the same 2, maybe 3 songs. Most people probably expected more guests after Drake. Nobody expected him to be the closer, given the amount of time left in the set and the brevity of the two surprise guests before him. My thought process was "Dang, the set is only halfway over, and we have DRAKE? Surely the only person that could top this would be Frank, and with this much time left in the set, that has to be the case." Drake even said while on stage, "They wanted me to come out here and do just a couple songs, but we gonna go a little longer if that's okay." leading us, even more, to believe that there were more guests lined up. So by his 5th or 6th song, it felt like he was cutting into what everybody expected to be Frank's set time, which explains the crowd's frustration. Nobody had yet realized that Drake was the finale. I certainly didn't boo, and I'm not defending the booing, but I understand the frustration. After Drake left, the crowd stayed. We thought Tyler was gonna come back out and introduce another guest. 15 minutes went by, and nobody left. Eventually, The Giant stage screen flashed the words "Thanks for coming, get home safe." Everybody then realized that we had indeed taken a massive L. I'm sure had people known that Drake was the last guest of the night, this mess would not have happened.

Imagine being a drake fan and the rest of the audience robs you of a surprise drake concert. That one guy must be mad.

The crowd at Flog Gnaw definitely seems pretty entitled, but who would have thought any different? I love Tyler, I've been to Flog Gnaw, and everything there is built for entitled people. You wait in a line for 3 hours to go into the Golf shop to buy $60 tshirts that say "WANG" on them. Last year there was a 4 hour line for the Kids See Ghosts tent, the shirt they sold there was $65 and literally just said "Kids See Ghosts" in a plain white font on a grey background. The hoodies were $125. The only free thing is the rides. I paid $25 for a tofu teriyaki bowl and it tasted like shit. A bud light is $10. My point is, broke people aren't the target demographic for music festivals; people age 16-25 from at least upper middle class families are the target audience. Naturally, these audience goers are more entitled. Music festivals used to be geared towards a different demographic. The people that went to Woodstock weren't the same type of people that go to music festivals now. This is why it also annoys me that people go to Coachella trying to play into the "old festival" theme with flowered headbands and bellbottoms only to sleep in a $140,000 camper. It's inauthentic and I think people of my generation have a horrible identity crisis along with an unhealthy dose of entitlement.

As someone who was there Drake’s set was confusing lol he kept saying “I only have time for one more song” then would play the song and be like “y’all want two more songs before I leave”, he did that shit like 3 times and I was confused af cause he made it seem like he wasn’t the last artists, I couldn’t even hear the boo’s I just saw people weren’t really vibing as much, still vibing though. Next thing you know, he’s off stage, lights are still off, 10 minutes pass, lights are still off, I start hearing “we want Frank” and cue the boo’s, it started to get ugly but that was after Drake had already gone off stage.. idk it was all just a shit show, but the easiest way to avoid this REVEAL THE ARTIST BEFORE THE SET!! Could’ve even been that morning, people don’t like to be surprised, especially when it comes to their money lol

As someone who went can I shed some light: 1. The entire festival was amazing 2. 3 weeks prior Frank releases a single for the first time in 2 years with a line that says "Look like I'm dressed for a camp cause I'm pitching a bag like I’m pitching a tent yea" 3. The 200 people who showed up dressed as frank ocean start to wait at the stage as soon as it opens. missing a lot of shows. 4. Drake comes out, most of us love it, the crazy people in the front got in his feelings. Festival ends abruptly.

My main problem with this whole situation is that when you’re at a music festival run by a big artist like tyler, the guest performers are exactly that, guests. So for the audience to treat a guest rudely, that reflects on tyler as well because you’re basically representing him. It’s like if your dad invited his friend over for dinner, but while he’s there you shit on the table because you don’t like his friend.

Tyler also didn’t mention the fact that frank ocean was insinuated to be the secret headliner throughout the festival. Even the mystery set started off playing frank ocean songs basically blue balling the crowd. Those of us that were there know there are many unmentioned reasons as to why everything ended the way it did.
