greetings from Hawaii. I have often heard people who's careers and avocations are tied to music, express a moment of despair after witnessing the vastness of Dimash range, skill, and control. It's understandable. You mentioned that it shows you where you come up short. I can carry a tune but am certainly no singer....not on a professional level. That said, my perspective is not that others are made to be lesser singers. A talented singer is still talented. Dimash is the rarity in that he exists beyond that realm. And I think that uniqueness is borne form the fact that he excels in every aspect of musicality. He composes, he dances, he plays multiple instruments, he sings in many languages, with many styles, and in every range and voice.....and he is great at all of it. Some people have naturally beautiful tone or voice, some have a natural skill with rhythm and syncopation, or for playing instruments...another might have amazing range, and yet another might have great skill and technique, and able to switch voices easily. or might be amazing with emotional interpretation..... adept at giving texture and pace to a song that fits the intent. Most really great singers have more than one of these attributes..and may be better than Dimash in a particular area. But in totality, no one is like him. He simply is the one example, for me at least, of the singer who is superlative in every aspect. So I don't see it as others falling short....I see it as Dimash having taken a step beyond what we thought were the limits. That's why we find him so fascinating.

As a musician, I can reassure you that, even though this is a trully beautiful love song, it's nowhere near Dimash's most impressive performances. Dimash cannot be contained in one single performance, so I really hope you react more to him. The "best singer" is a very relative term and highly subjective and it goes beyond technical vocal skill, so I'm not going to say Dimash is the best "singer". But Dimash is certainly among the best (if not the best) *vocalists* in the world right now and his artistry is also in top level, as I'm sure you will discover, despite his very young age. If you want some numbers, he can go from an A2 in baritone quality to a full tenor D5 (which is EXTREMELY high for world renowned tenors) and his soprano tone can reach up to a vibrating E6. His whisper can go even higher, the highest registered note in a live concert was recoded to be a D8 and the lowest with vocal fry is an F2. So, yes, 6 octaves are real. But the thing with Dimash is not just his range. It's that he owns every part of the spectrum and he sounds so gorgeous and in full control in every register. There are so many things he is doing so perfect, you will find out as you go. The perfect song to get introduced to Dimash is S.O.S. (go for the performance from Singer 2017, I think it's the version with the best arrangement and emotion, and it's also the performance that catapulted him into popularity in Asia). It's jaw-dropping, to say the least. He incorporates influences from so many genres/styles and cultures that he is impossible to categorise. He transcends traditional musical norms. His level of professionalism and dedication to his art is incredible. It's easy to forget that he's still only 25, the same age as Justin Beiber, yet displays a sophistication and level of polished performance that is rare in one so young. He has superb confidence, charisma and charm, he's humble and never appears arrogant or insincere. He really is a unique unrivalled talent. If anyone had suggested 20 years ago that a kid from Khazakstan would be an international mega star conquering the world without selling a single CD in America or the UK, the leading pop music markets, it would've been impossible to imagine. The world has changed dramatically over 2 short decades. Music has changed, the rise of KPOP and breaking into US/UK/Europe & all Asian markets is a 21st century phenomenon. That these artists are taken seriously in the US & UK is a significant shift in attitudes. I really believe that Dimash is something new, a truly multi talented, truly international artist like no one before him. He has the potential to become one of the biggest stars of the 21st century.
