DCs struggle because classic styles are not trendy or fashionable and it’s easy to get caught in fads, which is the antithesis of their innate style. But your videos are really helpful in anchoring on what works best for the type. Thank you!!!

I think as long as it's sculpted and sleek and not a too crazy hair colour DCs can incorporate trends. Dramatic Classic doesn't mean old fashioned. 🤗

The more I see your DC's vídeos, the more I'm sure I'm one. It makes so much sense! I always felt a bit disconnected to my cold summer colours. I need more depth, a little bit more shiny colours. Before I made the test I was confused between summer and winter. Now I know why. Thanks for your great job, I'm learning a lot.

Same here. I have been typed in the warm soft color category, so I guess soft autumn But I come alive in the deeper colors, especially with hair and makeup in DC style.

I’m pretty sure I’m dramatic classic because all of this is spot on for me (besides bangs).. and in a way no other type ever is. Cuts need to be blunt, one length & hair sleek! I have vintage-y style so it helps.

Same for me, it's the haircuts and styles that seal the deal. Smooth and one length is the way to go.

I had hoped, that there would have boon a litlle bit more excamples of DC´s with light colorations. I, DC, have a naturally dirty blonde hair (and nordic, fine skin colour). During summer months my hair gets lots of high lights from the sun. I think the colour is somewhat rich, but I´m also not sure, if I should color it to give it a more uniform effect. Would it be better for a DC? During the winter months my roots grow out ashy/mousy and during the summer time my hair has so many different tones that I wonder, if it´s too noisy. I kinda like my hair colour, but Aly suggesting that blonde hair colour could be dyed lighter, makes me (re)think about colouring my hair... What does the internet think?
@kirstenbakker839
@kirstenbakker839 3 ай бұрын
Your coloration sounds very similar to mine, so I think you're probably a light summer type too. I would recommend staying very close to your natural hair colour. To even out your colour, you could opt for an all-over application of a single hair dye colour that is very similar to your natural hair colour. For example, I'm naturally light ash blonde = 9.1, but closer to 9.13 beige blonde in the summer months. These hair dye colour numbers both work well for me, but I find 9.13 is a bit richer looking due to the hint of warmth that the 3 adds. One level lighter (10.13) or darker (8.13) is also nice, but the regrowth shows more. I hope this helps a little!

@@xcobyxzei I like my hair color, but I´m also thinking if it would be better for my body type, if I´d colour it. I guess I like the natural vibe, but having so many (natural) highlights may look too buzy for a DC, maybe?

you sound similar to me! I would avoid using conventional dyes. I like to even out lightened and brassy hair by using a colouring conditioner in a cool brown diluted with regular condition (customize to suit the shade you're aiming for) when with our hair type even dying with regukar dye or toner the perioxide effects stay after the darker pigment washes out you are left again with brass❤

Thank you for this video, now I understand my constant inner pressure to grow my hair (at least a bit) and get rid of the bleach blonde, even though it is very beautiful and would go with my seasonal color palette (it resembles the color I had as a tiny kid). I do have a pretty standard pixie cut right now and I notice how it doesn't go with anything I wanna wear. It looks seperate. If I was to style my hair back in a specific way, it would match way better already, but that style requires tons of hairspray and my scalp doesn't tolerate that at all, so I wanna grow it out to have an easier time styling my hair in a way that goes with my body's and face's structure and silhouette. But I think I will have to go through the phase of growing out my natural hair color as well. because whenever I try to color it darker, the color looks too artificial and that never looks in harmony with my coloring (it's either too warm or too cool, no matter the exact formula of the color). I do honestly believe that only my natural hair color works for me if I wanna go darker. It's about a level 7 and has this slight warm sheen to it that is very hard to match with artificial hair color. It's a hair color that can look ashy in certain lighting but is actually not purely ashy. It's like the slightest bronze tone you could get. Plant based color works very well to color it slightly darker and more rich without loosing the natural variation in tonality, that's the only type of color that allows me to go slightly darker without it looking odd.

I really appreciate these videos that go into the specifics for each Image ID’s recommendations. I would prefer however, to only see Kibbe verified examples considering how many times the internet has been wrong about celebrities. It can really throw off one’s study of the system when incorrect examples are held up as the standard (see Selena Gomez).

I love your analyses they are so helpful! What would be some good haircuts for wavier/curly hair other than Lizzy's wavy bob? My hair is a mix of 2c and 3a but it's sensitive and I don't wanna ruin my curls I used to have it long layered like 3:57 on the left but longer, and wash and go because interfering makes it look bad at the roots Last time I asked my new hairdresser what would fit me best and she said long layers but I wanted to get curtain bangs to stop front hair from being pulled all the time and so that I could also let them be wavy, so she gave me a little longer curtain bangs and a fairly straight long cut to the rest of the hair I'm scared to cut it short cause I'm afraid the texture will make me look more of a nerd than I already do (I'm 25) and my hair also takes forever to grow out and I can't commit to straightening it all the time

Thank you so much for this video! I am DC and have some gamine essence too. I'm wondering what to do, I've lost my hair to chemo (don't worry I'm doing fine) and it will soon grow again, what to do when you are going to have a pixie cut for a long time and you are dramatic classic?? 😅😅😅
@JuliaKirsty
@JuliaKirsty 3 ай бұрын
Hi there, first of all, I wish you the best for your recovery and health. To answer your question: If you got Gamine essence, don't worry too much about having a pixie cut since the essence mainly shows in the face and facial expression and body language, it will help a lot. Despite your essence though: if you wanna keep it more elegant and sleek, you can easily use hats, headscarfs and beanies for the beginning (before your hair looks like an actual hairstyle that you CAN manipulate and style a specific way) if you like. Aly has a video with recommendations for hats for the body types already. And I find the recommendations and examples shown VERY spot on. Since DC and G types both need crisp and structured pieces, none of the recommendations for DC would interefere with your essence at all. You can try to use gel or hairspray to style your hair out of the face (rather sleek), get regular trims in the nape area to avoid too much of a jagged outline and too many layers. I personally am growing out a pixie atm and I try to keep my bangs pushed to one side (out of the face looks too voluminous for my liking, at least atm with the current length) and my scalp doesn't tolerate many types of styling products, so I just go through this and keep in mind it's just a short period of time in which I don't look the way I want to look like. As soon as you can easily style your hair back and have a bit of length around your jaw (a bit lower than the jaw itself), you'll see how it starts to look more and more harmonious imho. Keep the outline of the haircut rather blunt, and you should be good. There will be lengths that won't be looking very nice and you'll probably feel like nothing really works, but if you just push through, that time will pass on its own anyways and after that you'll be happy you're done. Even if you have to keep that pixie cut for longer than you think, it's still only temporary. You CAN look up photos of Grace Kelly with short hair or even use Audrey Hepburn as a muse because despite being FG she always had a very classy style and her hair most of the time was very neatly styled and I think for some DCs (especially those with G essence) her hairstyle would work very well too. Also keeping any haircut rather traditional (not too punky, edgy or textured) would be best in any phase of the growing out process. I hope that helps somehow.

I too thought I was a DC for months until I saw this video, went to the hairdresser to get a „sleek/sculpted“ haircut only to realise that I actually look the best in my naturally wavy a bit untamed hair. Turns out I am a soft natural (at least that’s what I think I am now).

Hi Aly, I'm in love with you! I took the test, marked some options with 2 letters. In short: from what I saw in celebrities and myself it would be Flamb Nat or Flamb gam, in your video about bobs and face types and bobs and bodies I saw that I did almost everything wrong. very short straight bob, short straight bangs, and very very blonde color(10), (my natural color is 5/6) My midsection has become thinner and my collarbones are evident, almost sharp, my chest is thinner and I'm at my weight, but I have this part of my body with bones that are quite obvious to the point of causing discomfort. How can I make my bob more natural? (I already did that graduation of leaving it a little longer at the front) but at the front it is very thin, maybe because I used the razor a lot. The bangs are very straight, baby bangs, not very feminine on me...what should I do to feel good until they grow? I'm crazy, I'm almost getting hair extensions, but here where I live it's very expensive.

See, that's personal taste and it's totally alright to prefer the opposite of what's recommended for any ID. I myself like edgy looks and that's basically literally the opposite of what's recommended in ANY system (in terms of color, shape, silhouette etc.) but that doesn't mean that the recommendations are "wrong" or "bad", they just don't hit the nail on the head for us all the time. If you prefer slightly edgy or just "different" looks, you can also easily use the recommendations for your ID and do something that is NOT recommended to achieve the look you're going for. Learning the rules in order to know how to break them to achieve the exact result/image you want. That can also be a fun way to use Kibbe's system imho. I don't think, personal taste should be neglected just to meet up with all the recommendations. If you know what you want, I see no problem in going for exactly that.
