Dramatic footage: Moment Typhoon Haiyan washes away Philippines house

Video filmed by an aid worker has been released which shows waves from Typhoon Haiyan engulfing a village in Eastern Samar. Aid worker Nickson Gensis was on the island as the storm approached and managed to capture the moment that houses were washed away, whilst taking refuge on the top floor of a boarding house. While much of the boarding house he was in was flooded and destroyed, he managed to escape and was delivering aid to survivors as soon as the winds subsided. The Philippines is facing an enormous rebuilding task from Typhoon Haiyan, which killed at least 3,974 people and left 1,186 missing, with many isolated communities yet to receive significant aid despite a massive international relief effort. In the Philippines there are often typhoons, in Indonesia there are often volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. live in southeast asia like a disaster place

Storm surge normally doesn't move at that speed, tsunami does. That's why people here are commenting that it is tsunami-like.

the typhoons here in the philippines is very normal we not evacuate if typhoon is just cat 1..2..3..4 and if the typhoon is in cat 5 we are nervous but we are preparing THE FILIPINO SPIRIT IS WATERPROOF

uh ofcourse storms that hit japan usually come from the pacific going near the philippines then going uo to strike Taiwan or japan what happened here is itvwent straight through the Philippines luckily it didn't stall and it was fast or it could've been a lot worse

Its going to take years and years before the Philippines get back to normal, and it will never return to what it was, it's also a warning to the rest of the world, we are worried about the temperature getting hotter and this causing more flooding, the real danger could be the wind, winds like this or even half as powerful will erase many houses, city's, power plants, power lines, communication masts, trees, vegetation etc etc etc and will also take many life's in the process.

Philippines has always been a corrupt country. There's virtually no law enforcement there that the "little" people can turn to for protection. Other countries in Asia have advanced economically and technologically. South Korea, for instance, wasn't making cars as late as 40 years ago. Now, they're making KIA, Daewoo, Hyundai cars that at least some of them have topped the list in Consumer Reports for reliability and performance. Even Communist-ruled Vietnam is ahead of the Philippines in some respects. What a shame!

10,000+Died so many dead bodies scattered in the street mixing with animals bodies after this ferocious super typhoon hits Tacloban and Leyte .... In just 1Day ..... Well Philippines Government warned them all before it hits in Philippines .... ufortunately some of them dont want to go coz they love their House there they think that its just an normal Storm..... like before ... the aftermath was absolutely Nightmare... ..
