I understand that Diana was afraid of the memory of her father being forgotten and finding it difficult to cope but she was being selfish for ruining her mother's happiness, she wasn't thinking it was hard for her mother too. However I'm glad she learned her lesson.

I've been through this phase too. It's really hard for kids to accept new parent, but they need to understand, that they're parents need to be happy too

I aint a parents but as a teacher by profession we deal with different types of students with different backgrounds. In case of step parents, it would all depend on how a child is raise from the start. Many of us tend to disregard it but we fail to see the impact created in raising them from the early age.
