We all have bad falls xxx my worst one was: I was only riding of a year or 2 and got a new horse named Athena, so my trainer put up a gymnastic... i went on and she did a fricken catjump over the first pop... i lost my balance and landed on her neck. As good horse as she is she kept going... over the last jump i let go... i fell right under her feet and she stepped on my cheek and arm... ive been riding for 5 years now! My cheek is still messed up though 😂😂

honestly sometimes i feel like a loser sometimes when people ask me when i started riding. i do tell them the truth, which is that i started in 2010. i'm mostly stable in all three gaits, still need to work on my canter but i've never jumped before. i have a barnmate who started riding just last year, and she's already started jumping. i moved barns a lot because my trainers were strange, but now i start at my new barn next wednesday, and i can't wait. i'm just scared of being ashamed of my riding skills as a rider of 8 years. i'm a very fast learner and i'm quick to correct myself if i make mistakes but my first trainer only let me trot on a lungeline until i was like 11-12. that's when i moved barns, and that's when i started cantering. my trainer at my new barn didn't tell me what the right seat was in a canter, so i just tried my best to look like the girls in the youtube videos i watched, which worked, except i slowly started to lose my stirrups in canter. i'm still working on keeping my heels down in canter, because my knees just instinctively grab onto the saddle and that pulls my legs up, and i'm quite embarassed about it, but i know that with work, i'll improve and soon have a horse of my own!

I ride twice a week, since I don’t have a horse. I have been riding for about a year and I am slowly learning to jump. But you don’t have to worry about a thing! It’s better to go slower and take your time than finish everything quickly and not perfect it.

I just think it’s so cute when riders fall out of the saddle and onto the horse’s neck and the horse pushed them back up into the saddle I know it’s uncomfortable to the horse, and the horse is trying to get the rider off it’s back, but it’s like the horse is caring for you. So sweet

I just jumped a tiny x-rail in my second lesson last week and it was fun! I've been riding for 10 years of my life, and I wouldn't be me without it. My old pony, who sadly passed away from colic 2 years ago, took me so far in terms of skill and bravery, and my current pony, Chester, is an amazing jumper, and has taken me so far in that. I recently did my first competitive 2'6 course, and got a 3rd for individual, and 2nd for team, which I was really proud of, as I didn't really jump on my old pony. Horse riding is such a magical, amazing sport. I honestly couldn't live without it. This is a REALLY long comment

In my 2(almost 3) years that I've started riding, I've only fallen off once, and it was actually in November XD I was trotting bareback on a horse with a really choppy trot, lost my balance, used my heels to grip because I was already halfway to the ground, (stupid move, I know -.-) and fell off.. It actually wasn't that bad, but I've almost fallen off so many times I can't count... It doesn't really make me feel as much as real equestrian because I haven't fallen off many times though...

omg this is making me really sad and kind of look at the place i'm riding at, because i have been riding for like a year maybe a bit less and i've only slightly cantered once and i'm in a class with like 8 year olds and i'm 14 i just feel like i could be such a better rider if these girls weren't holding me back. But i can't leave because i'm in the middle of a term and I have no where else to ride at so i'm basically stuck walking and trotting. AND i'm being instructed by like 11 year olds that think i dont know anything and i just feel like i'm being held back. But i am so grateful obviously to just even be able to have the opportunity and money to be able to ride but I just feel like my skills are a bit wasted and taken for granted.

I have been riding for 3 years at the beginning I had no background knowledge about riding I started with one lesson a week my horse would always be tacked up by the time got there and was put on a lead line for the first 8 months and then she taught me how to tack up and walk on my own by the end of my first year riding I knew how to tack up myself except bridle and how to steer around the ring but she never corrected my posting and never taught me how to pick there hooves and at one point blamed me for a horse going lame because of a rock in its hoof she eventually left that barn and went to a barn were you had to own a horse to lesson there so I was abandoned with no trainer I soon found a new trainer who helped me canter taught me how to pick feet and put on a bridle and even taught me how to tell if I was on the correct diagonal along with started me on jumping almost a year ago today I started 4-h and at the barn the 4-h meetings are at there was a horse named Dakota that I got to start leasing and I am happy to still be leasing to this day he is 21 but very healthy we jump and the person who owns him is my newest trainer and I plan on keeping her as my trainer until she quits training I love how she trains me even making me no stirrup trot and canter jumps she pays attention to what I need help with and words things in different ways if I don't get it the first time she has helped me with my equation a lot when I first started training with her we went to a show and I barely stayed in the saddle at the 2 ft jump now I have a way better half seat and I am even helping her train her western pony to jump I have come a long way but I realize I am not the best and I can be really harsh on myself keep up the work and keep looking for the best trainer for you just because a trainer works good for one of your friends doesn't mean that trainer is perfect for you

We get to Canter and galop every lesson, and we sometimes jump and sometimes do dressage(but mostly dressage). I ride 1 hour each week, but im at The barn about 4 hours a week. Hope you find ankther class that you Can afford. I actually felt exactly like that when i was int riding 30 minutes each week.

We all go at our own pace if you feel your ready to move up ask your trainer what you could do to get better. But never worry about age because I’ve done it too much and it sucks but the only person you should compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday xx

I had to do no stirrups for a month I fell off about 5 times, but in the end it was all worth it because I tried really hard to do my best and it all paid off because I got my stirrups back first and I am a lot stronger now! Because a couple of the other girls at my barn also had to get their stirrups taken off too. It also doesn’t help my pony is extremely bumpy (even my trainer said) So I kinda got into a rhythm and just slid off 😂 PS I love your channel 💖

The first time I rode a horse I rode bareback...let’s just say I needed help staying on. She’s my own horse too. She was green broke when I got her. I know a lot of people say it’s a bad combo but I’ve got to learn with her. The only time someone has fallen off her was with not me on her. I still have yet to fall off and I’ve been riding for 2 years. She was pregnant and like 4 months from having her foal so she was really jumpy. We ended up sadly loosing the foal. It wasn’t her fault it was more so the fault of the person we were boarding her with. But that’s a long story. Sadly my horse has been through a lot and she is now half blind in one eye. She wasn’t in our care and was being taken care of by a horse trainer. Hopefully we can get her back to being as solid as she was a while back. She used to not get scared by much even things she was unsure of. Now she spokes when we just drop something well feeding her or walk up on her bad side. We are going to go into desensitizing her. And maybe after she goes to a different trainer she’ll be good. We are also planning to breed her this year. On Saturday we are also buying a mare named Raven who is having a foal in July. So we get a foal this year to! We have two horses and soon 3 (4 when the foal is born) we love all our horses and we would work with them now if not for the cold weather. So I’m hoping for Summer soon! Sorry this comment was so long.

Whenever I fall off I don't take it personally. One time I was riding my lease horse (I still have him he's amazing) and he is really young. One day me and my friend while I was riding my lease horse, there was a snow storm the day before so my horse got super excited because he's 7 years old. I didn't take the fall personally and all he did was canter and put down his head, he didn't even buck. Luckily I wasn't hurt at all. Everyone one kept asking if I was ok and I was like I'm perfectly fine, falling off can be fun sometimes , and it is best not to take it personally

I’ve fallen off once during horse riding and I’ve been riding for around 3 and a half years and I haven’t done jumping, I’ve only done a little cross pole on the ground and it felt like nothing. However I’ve been close to falling off around 10 times and because I have such a good seat/balance I stay on. The reason why I have such a good seat is because sometimes we do an hour lesson without stirrups which rlly helps you to gain a good seat.

Wow that was really inspirational! I just started riding this year and being a beginner and struggling to even control the horse properly it's really cool seeing you make all this progress in 3 years with consistency and dedication. And like you I don't have a horse of my own and probably won't for a while but it seems like there are lots of ways to get the chance to ride a horse regularly and even show it! Hope you get your own horse soon and with the experience you have its probably better that you waited this long because you've got the experience on lots of different horses and it will be easier for you know when you find horse that you'll click with and of course you'll be so much more experienced in riding and caring for it. You've also got an amazing attitude. With an attitude like yours you'll go far. You're still so young and so much life ahead of you. Keep up the great work and great attitude!!

This video is so amazing, but at the same time I'm crying. I'm in a depression loop hole, whenever I'm riding I feel on top of the world since I am re-training and lesson horse that was a pasture item for 2 years. But whenever I watch one of these videos I can't stop crying. I feel like my trainers are holding me back. I can't afford leasing and I can only jump around 2 ft and am so embarrassed because I've been riding for double what Justine has (6 years) If anyone knows how they could help me please comment!

I would just say keep on riding and NEVER loose hope!! if you could maybe consider moving barns just to see what some other trainers have to offer, if you can't switch maybe try to talk to your trainer and tell her how you feel. but it is ok because I know that you probably love the sport and wouldn't give it up for anything!! hope this helped, just know you are not alone!😁

My riding story: Started riding when I was 2. I am 11 now, 4 months until i’m 12. I was in a group lesson with only walking and trotting and the ponies I rode were DEVILS. Because I was little I wasn’t strong enough to hold the ponies back when they tried to go down for grass, so I think at that time I slid down the neck and fell off more times than I had lessons. The next year, I did my first “jump”. I was so proud of myself even though it was just a little raised pole on the ground that the pony trotted over. 3rd year, I started riding Gizmo, a bay tobiano 12.2hh Welsh Pony gelding type B. He was huge for me when I met him, and he was the FATTEST CREATURE EVER. I was constantly doing the splits when I was riding him, and the amount of times he bucked... 0w0 I also did my first 20m circle in canter. 4th year and 5th year were just any old years. 6th year I grew out of Gizmo and had to find a new pony and found Leo, a piebald mixed breed 13.0hh gelding. He taught me to do proper jumps, not just trotting over them. I slid off the side many times. 7th year, I grew out of Leo quickly as I had many growth spurts, and I started riding Gadget, a 13.3hh piebald mare. Also Gizmo’s half sister. She was just a regular pony and got me through the year. 8th year things started to get more serious. Most of the barn horses and ponies were sold, and so I moved to a new barn. There I met Honey Princess, or Honey for short. She was a palomino Welsh Pony section C, I don’t know what height. I rode her for a while, when one lesson day I was walking to Honey’s stable to tack her up and a tall black horse caught my eye. I asked what his name was and my trainer told me he was called Blackjack and asked if i wanted to try riding him in my next lesson. OF course I accepted. He was beautiful. And so the day came, and I tried riding him. THE MOMENT I sat on him, I felt a connection. He taught me to canter without stirrups, and jump spreads and oxers. Then a few months later, I came for my lesson as usual and didn’t see Blackjack in his stable. I asked if he was still in his field and my trainer said that he had been sold. I was so heartbroken that I moved back to my old barn to give that another try. That brought me to the next year, the 9th year. First horse I rode there, Roman. A 14.0hh piebald gypsy cob gelding. I thought he was OK, and went for a hack on him. There, he bolted and it was the first time i galloped and of course i fell off. That put me off riding him and looked at the other horses. I saw Jeremy, a 4 year old piebald 13.3hh gypsy cob gelding. I asked if i could try him, and my trainer warned me that he was spooky and a bit green. I tried him anyway and fell in love with how fast he is. I went on a hack with him and somehow built up the courage to try a gallop. I did it, and stayed on. He was going so fast for a pony, I didn’t want to look down. But stupid me did anyway. I looked down and saw the grass whizzing below me, and I realised i was slowly overtaking my trainer who was on a much bigger horse. I still love how he resembles a little racehorse. A few weeks later, I did my first show. I was on jeremy, and it was a 45cm hunter trials. He bolted in the warm up arena and i got back on, and when it was my turn to go i didn’t even get to the first jump before he spooked at a bush. I fell of and wasn’t aloud to get back on because of health and safety. I couldn’t control myself I was so upset about it and I was yelling stuff like “I DIDN’T EVEN DO THE FIRST JUMP!!” and “SHOWS ARE STUPID!!”. I cringe when i think about it. Then, I did my second show. A 55cm showjumping class. I completed the whole course without practicing, and only knocked 1 pole down. I got 8th out of 14 people and I was happy about it because it made up for the first competition. I still ride Jeremy to this day.

You have an amazing ability to get thrown forward onto a horse’s neck after a jump and you’re actually able to push yourself back into the saddle (even after getting thrown out of the saddle and in front of it O_O)! XD I wish I could do that, anytime I get thrown out of the saddle onto the horse’s neck I am going down! XD Been riding 12 years and still can’t do it. O_O The only refusals and bad jumps I stay on for are the ones where I manage to keep my butt in the saddle. XD

Hi Justine! Just wanted to say that this video is amazing, you are so brave and talented, and that this video changed my whole riding experience. I used to be very anxious while riding, sometimes I would cry when things went wrong, or I would blame myself excessively, or I would get anxious if my horse went fast. But when I saw this video and saw all the trial and error you went through in your riding experience, and how amazing you have become, I completely changed my perspective. I realized that I'll never know what'll happen unless I try. I became less anxious, and I went back to my daredevil, spirited self. I just recently found an amazing horse that I love so much, and we are best friends. I also did my first canter jumps and going fast on this big horse, and I now enjoy the thrill of going over big jumps and having the feeling of flying when going fast. I let go of my fears and conquered them. I feel so free and happy knowing that I can accomplish my goals fearlessly. Thank you for amazing quality content.
