You mentioned setting a time limit and to keep practicing more heads. Maybe a size limit? What size is a good sketch to do with a 25 minute study? I’ve been toying with the 100 head challenge but haven’t jumped because I thought it would take too long. With a time limit it seems so much more doable! Thank you! Congratulations on your app, it looks amazing!

Are you planning to add faces of different ethnicities? Currently I find most 3D models show a Eurocentric face construction which is only a singe part of the characters I draw

Great App Stephen, I will be getting this in the future. A suggestion, it would be nice to get a simplified head between the Super Simple one and the complex one (similar to the head on the top left on page 33 of Loomis's Drawing Head and Hands book). That would also give a student (like me) a great stepping stone from the super simple to the more complex. I know it's a million times too easy for us to make suggestions, and not so easy to make changes! Great Work!

I just purchased the app and am looking forward to practicing. Can you describe your desktop easel setup? I'd like to create a similar setup in my home studio for drawing. I already have a painting easel but want to create a separate workspace just for drawing. Thanks!

Bought the app, its cool, I like it. But I badly miss the option to disable cast shadows (and only shade model faces by their normals). I think cast shadows may sometimes stand in the way of understanding the actual form. Also, the chin and jaw of the most simplified model do not relate to other models very well, the position of the chin and jaw jumps grately when you switch to other models.

That chin is a bug I have my eye on- the models themselves are designed to be perfectly aligned. The problem came on the devs’ end during implementation.

Randomized lighting: Could you please consider adding an option to randomly change the lighting in a scene? This will help save time, since I currently have to manually adjust it. It will also provide interesting lighting variations that I may not have considered. Thanks!

This is a great tool. No taking away from that however- One thing I really wish devs of apps like these would do is make models that have sliders for expressions. I get how much more work that is, I understand 3D creation. But I would pay quite a bit for an app that did everything this app does, but had a poseable expressions head model. As a comic artist, well lit strait faces only help so much.

Very cool :) one thing id say that might be worth mentioning is that in the drawing, your back eye is way higher then the eye closer to the viewer, when should be following the brow angle in perspective :)

Can you add a feature to save a pose? I am a pretty new artist and it helps me to rotate the head when I'm confused about a plane but then having to it back in the right position is not ideal. LOVE THE APP! Thanks!

@@OhBeans using a less versatile and less developed planes of the head app on my Android, what I do is slow the rotation down and when it gets to the lighting I need, take a quick snapshot of that image. I then crop it for my use.

I bought the app and it's really good. I love it! Just one little suggestion for an update, if I may.. When I zoom in to draw an eye or the lips, the quality of the head drops where the lines are pixelised and not clear cut and smooth. A little update in this area would be great.

@@dandon1968 you don’t need every single face structure to learn the anatomy of the face which is the goal here, this is the basic structure so you can imply it when drawing which type of human you want

@@victor_on_cartooning i only ask a simple question of availability, which Stephen has answered kindly. about goals or how one learn differs from person to person, i think. for me, the function of this type of app is to help me observe and learn forms and planes more objectively, without having to guess and extrapolate informations that i don't have in the first place in my head.

The head measure of children and women are diferent from men. If the app is to use to draw the head and you get use to male measurement pretty quickly all your heads you draw will look like men. And when drawing from mind and if it isn't a men you will need a model.

The demo looks okay, but I've seen apps like these before. What would be nicer is an app with a head that's more flexible. Most drawing apps see the head as this rigid object that doesn't bend or rotates and isn't attached to a neck (that also bends). Things that can influence the pose and lighting (as shown in when you flipped through your sketchbook). The thing I like is the changing of the background color. It helps when picturing the head in a different environment.

Hi Stephen! Just came across your channel, and found this video. I was so sold on the concept of your app, i paused at 4:40 to go download and immediately try it out 😂 just wanted to ask, is there a chance you can make the app dual-screenable? I draw on an android tablet and would love to have it open to the side of my drawing software, but i understand that there are sometimes security reasons for that sort of limitation. Not yet. Each model has to be built from the ground up for the app. I have plans to expand the models based on what users request most but the timetable for production is relatively slow.
