Hi everyone, today's video is the first video I recorded at my atelier (art school) studio! It's one of our assignments where we have to render a realistic cast drawing (aka small white statue still life). The intro is just my teacher and I joking around a bit, so please don't be alarmed haha. I'm just too excited to be doing voiceovers again, woot!! Hope you enjoy! 😁
Thanks so much for watching,
Happy

I'm so glad the teacher was only joking! My blood pressure was literally rising thinking "How dare he speak to you that way!" The mama grizzly in me was triggered for a minute there! Lol But my youngest daughter had a teacher who thought she could get away with literally bullying her & repeatedly making her cry about her dyslexia at 10 yrs old. I went to the school & called a meeting with the teacher, principal, & vice principal. Then I made that teacher cry & then said "Now you know how it feels to be belittled in front of your peers! If you can't handle it as an adult don't expect a child to!" The teacher apologized to my daughter & never did it again. OK rant over. I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying your school experience! It sounds like this was exactly the right decision for you. The drawing is lovely! 💕

Haha yeah I feel bad for trolling during the intro but I was just so excited to do a voiceover again that I couldn’t resist having some fun with it lol. My apologies if it made anyone anxious before I revealed that it was all a joke 😅 But wow I can’t believe your daughter’s teacher made her cry! Bravo to you for sticking up for your child ❤️

This was amazing and I thought the humor was really funny. "Grow a brain" XD I love that kind of humor when everyone is just joking and understand it's a joke. I would love to see more art assignment content whenever you have time to share it with us! Thank you for taking the time to edit this video and I am glad you are having fun in school! ♥

Yeah I’m a huge fan of this kind of humor too because it’s how my close friends + my partner and I joke around with each other. All good natured teasing because we are close and have a lot of respect for each other hehe ❤️ Glad you like the art school content! I’ll be sure to film more in class 🥰

This is incredible! It’s so inspiring seeing one of my favorite artists learn and love art again, acquire new skills, and improve. I’ve always appreciated your humble and modest nature. It’s why you’re such a wonderful artist and improve so quickly. I’ve been following your journey since 2017, and you inspired me to start making art again. I’ve heavily debated going back to school for art, so what a coincidence you just did the same thing! This video helped me make up my mind. Even though I won’t be at an atelier, I’m hoping an art program will sharpen my skills and challenge me to be better. Thank you for everything. 💖

Charcoal is one of my favourite mediums and I only started with it just over a year ago. You should try using white charcoal on black paper...now that IS satisfying!!! ClaireFontaine paint on mixed media paper handles it really well..

He is indeed super fun and humorous! I was relieved because I was afraid that a serious realism art atelier would require all the instructors to be very serious and by the book, but luckily for us our teacher is a huge jokester and very jolly lol

great job with the charcoal on that eye, the shadows are really well done 🙂 i think that slab of eye is at most art schools, we also had a copy of David's hand which was used a lot.

I loved this video!!! Keep the Atelier content coming! I lovedddd the bit with your teacher!! You are just so incredibly talented. I adore art of all kinds, I’m just unfortunately not naturally good at drawing, despite taking some college classes on the subject, but I just cannot seem to get proportions down…. It’s a major artistically hindering thing, because I have SO much in my head that I want to create, but it feels like whenever I try, it just looks nothing like what I saw in my mind! It’s like a scratch that I cannot itch! I paint every single day, but I wish I could take the leap into realism!!!! You do such an incredible job, and you’ve taught me a LOT about oil paints. And I sooooo appreciate you showing me the ropes to my dreams. Thank you, Happy!

Aww thank you for the kind words and I’m so grateful I can provide even a little bit of help and/or motivation on your art journey ❤️ Tbh my proportions and anatomy needed a lot of practice as well going into school (I always got the heads way too big lol), but we just study from a human anatomy book and copy the drawings from there for practice. We also measure proportions using skewers and various long thin stemmed objects, and after doing that for a few months I am finally noticing some slight improvement! Don’t let your struggles with anatomy hold you back. Drawing a bunch of body parts over and over again might not be a bit redundant and boring (I’ve drawn over 100 feet already in the last 3 months lol), but it definitely helps and is well worth the effort! Best of luck dear and I believe in you!! 🥰

Yeah I was so pleasantly surprised to see that the instructors here are so kind and nurturing and genuinely want to help us improve! I’ve heard some horror stories about judgmental/rude art school teachers and we are very lucky that we don’t have problems with that here 💕

This is ALL so interesting! I'd love to do something like this. Unfortunately I work full time and I'm in school full time. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, it gives me an idea on how to proceed on my own when I have time. I know this seems a strange question but I have charcoal pencils and can never get them at as sharp a point as you have. How on earth did you get your points that sharp?! LOL
