Link to the full stream below. Kim Jung Gi gave a lesson at the end of his stream for his viewers about drawing from 'eye level' and using perspective lines to control the proportions of objects in your art, so I uploaded parts of it if anyone wanted to see it again. The full stream and channel has way more tips and content so go check them out.
Super Ani: • 2020. 06. 24 Live Comi... (Lesson Starts at 1:46:00)
I don't own this, I just edited it down. Hope you enjoy!

FYI to anyone coming by this video - these lessons and bunch Jung Gi goes over in his streams are from books by Marcos Mateu-Mestre's - "Framed Perspective Vol 1 & Vol 2". My girlfriend got them for me for my birthday after KJG talking about them in a video. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have seen some demonstrations of his technique where he imagines each figure is in a box or rectangle, then, based on the lines going through the box at exactly the same height on each side, one can determine the trajectory of the perspective line for each feature of the character. Basically he is always thinking three dimensionally, imho.

There's something about the way he draws and his tutorials, it really makes me so focus, the way he draws things it's so interesting. At first I thought it was gonna be quite hard for me to understand since I'm not that good at English, but it's not. I find THE WAY he draws is charming.

Maybe it's redundant but he never explains where to place the feet. He just draws lines of different sizes across the plane and says "This is 180cm." Most teachers when explaining this concept specifically place the examples in a kind of single file line toward the horizon so it's more obvious how you determine the exact height.
@JTT126
@JTT126 9 ай бұрын
Late message but if the eye level is established then as long as anything touches that eye level it’s gonna be that height. Doesn’t matter where the feet is
@futurestoryteller
@futurestoryteller 9 ай бұрын
@@JTT126 You could place two characters' heads of the same proportion, right next to each other and one of those person's legs could go all the way to the bottom of the page, while the other only goes halfway.

@@futurestoryteller yes. It would work according to my understanding of this concept. Assuming the floor has an even slope

Your perception of the horizon changes depending on your eye level
@salty_3k506
@salty_3k506 2 жыл бұрын
No it's not the same. But in my experience it only really applies when you tilt your eye level or use distorted perspective. But usually if you're looking straight at the horizon, it will overlap with your eye level.
