Absolutely fantastic video series. I have the exact same Honda, wasn't getting fuel and had to take apart the carb. Turns out the vacuum pump diaphragm had ruptured! Ordered an OEM replacement and slapped it in, started up great. Your video really helped me get familiar and do the whole process more confidently as I'm pretty new to engine repairs. Thank you!!

After Messing with knock off carburetors I broke down and bought me a good replacement carburetor for my 03 Rancher. I installed it with no problem but it runs real rough like it’s pretty rich. After watching this video I believe I know how to adjust the mixture and get like I want it Mine too was sitting up for many years. It was very good before it set up. Then I had the awfullest (my dad’s word) time keeping it running. On the fourth try with the third carburetor I figured out it wasn’t the tank or the gas. it was the sorry knock off carburetor. Thanks for sharing this is exactly what I need to fix my Rancher.

d-Ray, thank you very much. I bought a couple of kawaski 250's a few months back and have not been able to get one of them running. I figured it needed a carb kit or to be cleaned up. Never done that before, so I watched your three part series on the Honda 300 you did. Sure enough the float was stuck shut, lots of varnish, and closed jets. I followed your instructions. Awesome for even this beginner. Second kick and the bike started right up. Thank You very much. I enjoyed learning.

Yo D-Ray....I just revived my 3fitty foreman thanks to your detailed video. I am not a mechanic by a long shot but thanks to you I can rebuild an atv carb! Way to take your time and actually help us instead of tooting your horn. A three part video tutor is a great idea to have plenty of time to explain to us newbies, plus it makes it so easy to go back and find your place again. Next up, I just happen to have a 300 fourtrax that is about to get a carb rebuild. For real D-Ray, thank you sir.

Hi D-Ray over the weekend I rebuild my carb on my 2000 Honda Rancher Es I did not use the rebuild kit you showed on your video this lead to some problem with the operation of my float valve but over all thanks for all you show on how to rebuild a carb on youtube I never did this before and I went step by step and it worked out great nothing is more rewarding than a good out come when you have attempt to make any repair. PS this rebuild also gave me a much better throttle response more power. thanks again Hank Dixon

I can not express in strong enough terms how much I enjoyed the videos. Ray gave me great confidence and the Fourtrax is running great. When I bought the 4 wheeler it would only run with the choke on so I felt like a plugged up carb was the problem. The original carb had been replaced with a Chinese unit but the owner still had the original so I rebuilt the original. Great success, runs great and is way more powerful than I imagined it would be. Thank you Ray, I'll be tuning in for more help!

Man, after searching the web for good "how-to" information on TRX300's and decided to give KZfaq a try. I found this three part series which covered EVERYTHING I need to do on my wife's '97 which has sat for over 5 years. Our tank is very rusted and I'm gonna try a few remedies instead replacing it. Also (don't hold this against me) I went to high school in Augusta but I'm back in my home state, Louisiana (don't hold that against me either LMAO)

there are a few special tools needed to remove and install some of the bearings, and pinion gear. I would recommend having a dealer look at it. Since the housing is alumimum, it is easy to destroy it trying to remove the old bearings, so be careful.

I would start by isolating the problem. The way I like to do it is by disconnecting everything not directly tied to the running of the machine. lights, horn, regulator rectifier, then try starting it again. if it doesn't blow the fuse, start reconnecting each item one at a time, and restart the machine till you find the trouble circuit. If you don't find a failed component, it seems that most wiring problems are usually around the steering stem area, where the harness flexes a lot.

There are a few things you might have issues with. First, check the carb float chamber vent hose, the one on the upper left side of the carb. If that hose is obstructed, the carb wont vent properly and will overflow thru the bottom hole. also check the drain screw itself, if the tapered tip is corroded, it wont seal off, causing a leak. Also the float level, the float should be parallel to the body of the carb without depressing the spring loaded plunger on the end of the float valve.

The first thing I would do is pull the air box lid off and see what that does. If that makes it run better, check for a restriction in the air intake to the air box. If not, next check the carb vent hose comming off the side of the carb for a restriction. If you dont find anything there, you probably have a piece of trash under the float valve, causing the fuel level in the carb to run too high. Thanks for watchin'.

Nah, just makes it louder, lol! Most likely bein' a 2002, that spark arrester is probably so rusted in place you will probably trash the muffler trying to remove it. You might just remove the muffler for a bit and see if it revs any better, but I havent seen one come apart on the inside and restrict the exhaust enough to cause any running problems.
