Hi Doc! Really enjoy your videos for their content! I was a 23yr smoker...quit in '92. After that, replaced with lots of sugar and carbs...baked goods etc. I put on a lot of weight, became T2D, and at one point was told by my primary that I had a fatty liver. I started keto/carnivore March 2019, lost 40lbs and got my diabetes under control! I had a CAC done last February and got a score of ZERO: took myself off my diabetes meds and am awaiting results of lab tests done 2 days ago! I can't tell you how much I have taken away from your videos! You put it out there with no BS! Please continue what you are doing...I am a Patreon subscriber and really enjoy your videos! Thanks again!

I looked up the article you mentioned, PMID: 25979079, and it is as scary as you suggested. In early 1961, my maternal grandfather had a CABG and was told by his surgeon that his routine bacon and eggs breakfast and cream in his coffee were directly responsible for the plaque. He, and I, then switched to cereal and blue milk and tossed out the salt shakers. Funny, his smoking was never mentioned. And I became a diabetic.

@@robertcywes2966 , thank you for answer. Noted, will be tested, and reported. I alredy tried keto + IF for two months. I was underweight to begin with (64 kg), and ended up being even more underweight, with 2 big keto meals a day, at 12.00 and 19.00 h. By the way, I am 40 years old now. What I call "underweight", is 57 kg for 173 cm tall male. I am from north-east Europe, Lithuania. Dishes with lots of potatoes and meat are main core of our diet. And we use lots of white flour for home -made hot souces, dips and pastrys. I am not a big fan of sweets, can use them in moderation though. I don't drink alkohol nor smoke, never did. But to live without potaoes and grains, it's a hell on earth to me. Yes, I like fatty steaks, eggs and cheese, but it's damn boring to eat this stuff all the time, without diversification, that's the problem for long term to me. Coffee helps. As bridge. But I drink whole cups, not just sipping like you, Doc. Veggies help a little, but not much, if to stay away from high fructose ones... To make long shot short, i am 57 kg now with age of 40. Same weight I had when I was 19. But now you can count my own ribs and 4-pack (not 6-pack yet :)). I posted a similar question. I have read that nicotine alone, ingested, is not harmful. I use it with caffeine pre-workout and for appetite suppression..... I hope he responds....
@NilsR3 жыл бұрын
@@tawnipargman8237 He might not know, but you can always think for yourself: He is saying the nicotine in your bloodstream does this, so how it gets in there may be less important. However, since smoking and vaping goes straight to your blood through the lung walls, while digesting nicotine potentially has a longer route, that might spread your intake. I would also hazard to guess that patches or gum has a lot less nicotine in them? If so the question then becomes if lower concentration means less damage, which seems very likely. Unless the doc has done specific studies on this though, I doubt he can give you any guarantees or set a upper limit for how much gives no or negligible damage. This is just my thoughts, I might easily be wrong.

@JYAN28523 жыл бұрын
You may be gluten intolerant. Temporarily eliminate all wheat, barley, rye, oats for 30 days to see if your psoriatic arthritis improves or goes away. Fried food cause free radicals leading to increased inflammation. Cholesterol does not cause heart attacks and strokes. Inflammation does. Oxidized LDL only comes to respond to the inflammation to repair the damage. Otherwise you would bleed out if not patched up with LDL and cholesterol. Statins do more damage than it helps. Focus on lowering triglycerides and increasing HDL don't worry about LDL. You can do this by eating more saturated fat and reducing/eliminating refined carbs, veg oils. Nobody can force us to take Lipitor or any other statin drugs. Simply decline it. Even the doctors don't want to take their own drugs

Is nicotine entirely a villain? I’ve heard it can lessen the symptoms of Covid and assist with recovery afterward. The first medical info that popped up on google showed summaries results of research trials that showed neuro-protective effects in Alzheimers and a few other positive things, so it’s being studied as a potential pharmaceutical ingredient. I got interested when a friend suggested I check out the theories of a fellow named Dr. Brian Ardis. I was having trouble getting my strength back after the virus, so I tried the gum and a lozenge. Never before have I taken a drug or medication that gave me a “hit”-like a punch in the face. One piece of chewing gum. Tried lozenge that night-worst most disgusting nightmare in years! Tried gum next afternoon, much less of a hit. Third afternoon, struck by a headache (not generally prone to). I wondered if this was the “hook”-trying to get me to chew another piece of gum. Well, if it had asked nicely…but instead I decided this nicotine was too powerful to fool around with. My recovery was good after that, but I doubt it had anything to do with the nicotine!

This is very misrepresentative of the medical literature on nicotine. I'm not advocating smoking or vaping, but this "doctor" quotes a single study and truly seems to have an axe to grind about people "abusing nicotine to regulate their emotional health". Nicotine's impact on endothelial cells has been studied fairly extensively, with very disparate results. Most studies show a dose-response curve with small amounts (microMole) being either innocuous or in same cases, actually beneficial to endothelial cell health. Traditional smoking only produces about a 1 microMole concentration in the blood stream; I doubt vaping would increase this by a factor of 1000, the amount necessary to reach 1 milliMole. However, even amounts from 1 mM (milliMole) to 2.5 mM have been found safe in multiple studies, and another study only detected damage to the endothelial cells at doses of 10 mM and above. On the other hand, nicotine is known to protect against pre-eclampsia by actually enhancing part of the endothelial cell backbone and new vascular growth in the developing embryo, and has definite neuroprotective effects against Parkinson's disease and some forms of dementia. It also prevents inflammation and bleeding of the gums in patients with acute bacterial gingivitis. This video is a largely science-free screed (one study from 2015 that is not presented in detail) against a substance that is still poorly understood. And the most ridiculous part is this "doctor's" rant about 19 year old Vietnam soldiers and coronary heart disease in post WW2 America. Has he examined the diets of these people? Of course not. Go look at the amount of candy bars and junk food, not to mention the bread, pastries, desserts, rice and pasta, eaten by the post-war generation and try to tease this out of the "doctor's" observational conclusions. Can't be done. Two thumbs down on this video.

I respect you , but here you are not using a science perspective . Put away your personal view .
@joshuatmorton57163 жыл бұрын
Care to point out what the 'science perspective' is? I'd say having a directly appplicable PhD and using a first principles approach that incorporates anatomy and a sound understanding of clotting is pretty scientific in it's perspective... You know who probably said similar things to your, "I respect you but ..." comment? common people arguing against abolitionists because the prevailing 'science perspective' orthodoxy of the time was inherent biological inferiority.

@@joshuatmorton5716 No , he serves the same "public rethoric" about vaping , politiciesed fight and common lies like young people start to vape , but forget they dont start to smoke and its not a gateway , those who vape are smokers that never could stop smoking , like over 90% are iold smokers. and nicotine is different in smoke and vape , its not a cure , but a damage reduction and so far diuring 10 years i cant see a singel one who have died from it alone.
