It looks great! I DREAM of the day I have a closet this large. That closet is as big as my room that I use as my office as well because I work from home. No exaggeration! Also, a chair in there would be awesome! That'll be Aarons new napping place lol.

One trick for deciding what to purge is to put the hangers backwards on the rails and turn them to the front when you actually wear the item, then every 6 months do an inventory of items still hooked backwards and clear them out. (I raised 7 kids and this helped me organize hand me down phases!)

I am with Aaron about the shoes. Comfort is everything. Especially on your feet that you have to walk on all day. Great makeover. Closet looks amazing! If the island doesn't work out because it makes it a bit hard to get around, try a circular table like Max said. You may even be able to fit a chair or two at the table like Aaron wanted!

Crystal, I’m with you. My closet is color organized by the order of the rainbow and each color is sorted by short sleeve and then long sleeve. It’s so much easier to find what you want that way.

That's Bigger than my bathroom!. Oh how I wish in the UK they did closets. We only have wardrobes ( hanging space for clothes) Aaron your lucky to have such a space. Oh and I can start to see how much Max has the same laid back personality as his Dad 👌

Wow! What a transformation. One suggestion. You have a vinyl cutting machine. You might want to label the baskets so he knows what is in each one without having to go through each one. If that happens, I don't think he will keep it organized. Awesome! Now, when are you coming to Kentucky to organize my closets? lol

I agree with Aron. It's a nice gesture when the kids shop for you two, but I've noticed that they get you things that THEY like, THEIR style. You should look at loafers, boat shoes, casual-dressy comfortable shoes for everyday wear.

I completely understand where Aaron is coming from with not wanting to re-organize his things, especially when you leave them in spots you know you can find stuff, but Aaron think about how much less stress you’re going to have with a all new and improved closet. I agree with crystal about color coordinating your cloths that you hang up I also separate mine by short sleeve, long sleeve, sweaters, and sweatshirts lol

That turned out beautifully. I like the colors of blue. I try to live with the motto of if this does bring me Joy then I get rid of that object.

I loved when Max said “People do that?” when referring to color coordinating their shirts. I just throw stuff in my closet. My pants and shirts are all mixed together no rhyme or reason and I’m lucky if things are even hung up, especially my coat and jacket. However I’m also wheelchair bound and live in a tiny studio apartment and can barely even get close enough to the closet so I just toss my stuff in there. Then my husband starts hanging stuff up but he just puts stuff where he finds an open spot to put it.

Love the makeover. If the dresser is too big as an island maybe tuck it under the shelves and have it come out as a peninsula. Still surface area for folding but easier to get around.

For the Home Made t-shirts, you can buy t-shirt frames to hang them. You fold then up in a 12" square though.

We moved to a smaller place and literally had to get a roll off dumpster for his stuff! I was so proud of him! Now I am so proud of you!

I totally relate to the receipt collection. I use an app to scan my receipts and earn money to use at a variety of places. I have my friends give me their receipts and I stack them on the table to scan "later". You have to enter them within 2 weeks of sale dates and I end up tossing more than I get scanned. Comfy shoes are the best of the best. Great job on the closet, would love to see how it looks in a few months time.

You can get arch support insoles to put in your shoes or gel insoles are another good option because they’re shock-absorbent. It might be worth and try so you can have more options xx

Haha just a tip for the jeans because he washes them & doesn’t wear them after lol my husband use to do this so I started just washing them only & hang them up to dry!!

Aaron- get some good inserts with arch support to put inside the more “stylish” shoes. It makes a world of difference. Some of the running shoe stores will even make custom inserts that fit your foot. It may take trying a few different ones out to see which ones are more comfortable for you.

Everyone around us works or has connections with Nike in some way. It's so funny to see others making a big deal out of Nike. We give them away around here. I side with Aaron on that one ... Aaron, I am with you on the shoes situation - it is very impprtant to wear comfortable shoes. But, you can try putting arch-supporting inserts to the less comfortable shoes and see if that helps :)

Arron, I understand about comfortable shoes. I am older than you and I can only wear certain shoes. You are smart to realize at this young age that you need comfortable/supportive shoes for YOU. Then when you get older you will be able to walk without sore feet.

I really like the closet makeover, but my OCD NEEEEDDDSSSS his clothes to be color/size/weather/style coordinated. It just HAS to be coordinated like that. I’m literally so OCD that when I go grocery shopping I actually organize my shopping cart the same way, color/food type/cold/hot/dry/wet/etc. Everything needs to be organized that way. It’s a good thing I love to organize. I house/pet sit when people go out of town. I’ve had clients actually leave me things like their pantry, refrigerator, cupboards, closets, etc to organize. I love it when they do that. It’s so relaxing to me.

Lol I do the same thing with my clothes! Lay it in a pile instead of just hanging them 😂

“That’s my savings” and the look on Aaron’s face afterwards took me out 🤣

FYI!!! New balance does make different colors in shoes that have the same support as the “dad” white and blue shoes. Our kids hated their dad wearing those shoes so I ordered him grey and orange and he loves them.
