Gahyeon is the maknae of Dreamcatcher and known for her Aegyo and curvier figure within the group.
In late 2017 she took an interest in eating better/ working out and has lost some weight.

@@itznia_ok8069 I didn't mean it that way , they actually treat her better than most Chinese idols , it's just that sometimes she can't show her potential like her voice and I think that's why she went to the competition, I'm not complaining tho and I think it's based on who fit the best in the song so yeah .

yes because most companies pressure their idols to diet and fans sometimes make rude comments about idol's weight. i was somewhat surprised to see that they would have food on set considering most idols don't. the company treats them well and it shows. they often have company dinners, and the manager seems to be very kind. good vibes all around

I'm glad their company doesn't pressure them to diet. Their choreography looks like it takes a lot of energy to perform so they definitely need to eat (healthy that is) to maintain energy to deliver the 'WOW factor' that they give us with each performance.

It really looks like Gahyeon went about the weight loss all the right ways and did it healthily. In the interviews I read while making this she overall just seems really smart, she thinks hard about even her finances and preparing for her future. I'd also like to say none of the other members look to have tried crash dieting or some stupid starvation diet either and that sometimes will keep the group from tipping over, sometimes if one member does it, the rest will follow. She looked great either way but it's about what she wants and if this makes her happy then so be it. After promos she might gain a few pounds back? She does everything really slowly so the changes in her weight are more "yearly" than they are every comeback.

Honestly, I was a bit afraid when I saw your video title. I was afraid that (like some others) you would blow it out of proportion and make everyone talk about her weight, which she would notice and maybe it would stress her out. You know, Insomnias care about Gahyeon and all the members a lot especially since she is the maknae who sort of grew up before our eyes. She seems to be such a kind and hardworking person. Insomnia usually don't criticize any member of any group on their appearence because Dreamcatcher always talks about the good things and they seem to have such a great dynamic that it just makes you happy. Personally I love Gahyeon any way that she wants to be and I'm really proud of her. She has been getting more and more lines and screentime recently and I think she's getting better with every comeback. I'm glad you made a thoughtful video and showed that she know how to take care of herself instead of criticizing her. Thank you. Now, let's go and stream Scream or Endless Night. Whichever you like better and spread kindness in Kpop ^^

I got into Dreamcatcher with You&I promos, and I did notice she gained some weight later in Piri, but it wasn't thaaat big of a change. Thanks to your video I was able to understand better her approach and take on eating well + exercising. As long as she's happy, I'm happy.

I know this is a bit irrelevant but can you do some researches about Hyunjin of LOONA as well(or even make a video if needed). She is pretty thin throughout their predebut period but I noticed she gained some weight right before their debut and kept that for more than 1 year. I watched your videos and acording to those she might seems overweight in knets' eyes even though she looks totally healthy to us. I love that the company didn't make any pressure on her to lose it (suprisingly because she's kind of considered to be one of the visuals of the group). Only recently does she become skinier for their newest comeback (i guess). LOONA is not that well-known in Korea but I'm just curious if she has ever received criticism for it cause knets sometimes are really cruel. I don't want my girl to get hurt :'(

I had noticed that she’s gradually lost weight, and I know that in a recent interview one of the girls said they’re aiming for a “beast-like” image, and working on their strength more as well. So that may be a contributing factor. All of them are looking very fit and healthy and happy and I’m so grateful that their company takes care of them and doesn’t push any sort of “diet”. I love them dearly, the only concern I ever have for them is negative comments they might receive from mean people on the internet, which every group seems to deal with. As long as they are happy, I’m happy.

This is why we stan Happyface Ent. They don’t push their idols to lose weight and when Minx was failing they didn’t just disband them and make them disappear, the redebuted them as Dreamcatcher with two new members and look where we are now.

They used to be a bit shady. One of the DalShabet members (DC's senior group) was pushed to getting chest surgery, but I'm glad that they have learned and are kind to Dreamcatcher.

The happiest company. Keep in touch with fans (SNS freedom), world tour, constant comebacks, positive mental attitude, not afraid expressing themselves, the artist got involve in production. That's why their music always keep growing and pushing to the limit. "Happy face" entertainment not just a gimmick afterall.

as someone who is trying to recover from an ed this makes me so happy, i have the same body type and seeing her eating whatever she wants while doing cardio and in the end losing weight gradually as a result of her hard work gives me a lot of hope

Gahyeon has always been my bias and I really liked the way she represented a different body type in the group since the other members are almost all around the same weight/body shape. I loved that. I never saw her worried about it other than the fact that she looked a little bit more shy and not so confident on stage but I guessed it would be because she wasn’t used to it. That’s why I got a bit scared when I saw her drastic weight-loss. Now I realise that even if she did shed a considerable amount of weight it seams that she has done it healthily, not starving or overworking herself. I’m happy for her as long as she’s happy and healthy. I’m specially happy that now I see her so much more confident on their Scream/Red Sun stages. Shes killing it and this is definitely her era. I really hope she’s healthy and happy. Thank you for your video ❤️

I wouldn't say she has gotten skinny, I would say she has become more tone. She seem to be building muscle (not a lot but just enough) to maintain her weigh and burn off any fat she does get back. Regardless I am happy that she is happy and looking great. Much love to our baby nightmare.

I love her curves, she proves being beautiful doesn't always have to be having skinny body. She looks gorgeous & attractive even when she gained weight. And I'm glad her company doesn't pressure her to loose weight or whatever. As long as she's healthy & comfortable with her own body, then that's fine.

I think it helps a lot that Ji U is both a serious gym bunny and a pretty chill leader who prefers example rather than bullying. Exercise and a sensible diet is not only healthier, but a better long term investment than yo-yo dieting. Though kudos to Happy Face for recognizing that or - at least - letting Ji U do her thing and the rest of the girls follow suit as well.

Yeah I agree, all the members are so caring. Gahyeon in a recent interview said shes still not happy with herself and the other members were quick to tell her how pretty she had become and that she didnt need go loose anymore weight. All the members seem very sensible and really care about each other. Dami was very quick to compliment Gahyeon when she said she wasnt satisfied yet, it just proves how caring the girls and their company are.

Gahyeon is inspiring in so many ways. She is kind, smart, realistic and much more. I always follow her example whether it is about money, food, exercise, dealing with negativity, etc. Thank you for showing how positive her weight journey is and how smart she is about it.

she is one of my role models in kpop. as a recovering bulimic, I know what yo-yo dieting combined with binges and starvation can lead to. I applaud her healthy mindset and I think I have much to learn from her❤️

Gahyeon and the rest of Dreamcatcher are really an inspiration to so many of us struggling with our weight. They're so strong and fit, they really show that hard work and exercise pays off, that you don't need to starve yourself to look your best. One of the reasons they're my ult group, and Gahyeon is my bias wrecker 💞

dc makes me so happy, all the time you'll see idols being asked about their diets and beauty but dc only talks about their music, which is what they're there for. they're artists, not supposed to be models. this happens a lot- people become idols because of their love for music and wanting to share that passion with the world but having to worry about fitting the unrealistic standards set for them, resulting in dissatisfaction and unhappiness. I'm glad dc can focus on what their actual job is, music

I think it starts with fandom. Fans used to expect idols to look perfect at all times and the management would react and force idols to do things like crash diet. Fans have matured & realized that crash dieting to look "perfect" ruins the health, and having healthy idols is a better role model that unhealthy ones. I think fans are also more accepting of different body types now too. As a result, managements are focusing more on their idols eating healthy & exercise. I'm happy for GH that she was never pushed to do unhealthy things, and the Dreamcatcher fans focus more on talent & music than body types.

I love the fact that their weight isn't too much of an issue for the company and the fans. I also love the fact that Gahyeon is aware that Yoohyeon doesn't gain even while eating a lot and she's alright with that. They're just so chill as people and as a group. I love it.

I also noticed that Sua, who has always been one of the thinnest members, gained a bit of weight before their Deja vu comeback and then through the promotions. Having heard so many idols say the have to go on a diet before promotions and maintain it until they end, it makes me so happy to see these girls are eating properly and taking care of their health. Though Sua has now lost all the weight she had gained and worked out a lot, since she was happy to be able to show us her newly formed abs😂❤ The only members that don't eat as much as the others are Yoohyeon and Dami. They do eat, but Dami has also lost some weight and has never had the biggest appetite. And Yoohyeon has said she can't eat much at once.

all dreamcatcher's members are healthy and are pretty strong with great stamina, they eat all theirs meals and are really happy doing what they love and I'm here for it! stan dreamcatcher guys, they're great humans and are talented af.

I've recently been binge-watching their vlives since the very beginning and there were a few moments I'd like to point out (I understand you did not consult them they're A TON): - during their debut GaHyeon did a lemon detox diet. She mentioned it in one of their first vlives. They were reading comments and some of them said that she needed to loose weight. - other than that I think the only one that has mentioned dieting (I just finished Full Moon era) is Sua a couple times, for example mentioning that since she is in a diet she had only ate an apple the day before. In general they barely talked about diet aside from the (extremely occasional) "X and Y member are on a diet now". That's pretty much everything until You&I, and given that that is more than year and a half ago I wouldn't worry about how they currently are (though I still have to watch You&I and on, the day needs more hours!).

I've used kpop idols a lot in the past to justify hating myself and my body, but I see gahyeon with a healthy body shape that looks closer to mine, and it makes we want to be stronger, not skinnier.

The commentator voiced their own concerns that Gahyeon seemingly loses weight right before comebacks and then gains at the end of promotions. This lead me to initially believe she was another case of what I call “The Yuri Effect”. This constant cycle of extreme dieting, sporadically shedding weight before comebacks only to gain it back plus more once the spotlight was turned off. However after watching this, it does seem like Gahyeon eats well and is clever around her decisions. Of course Gahyeon seems to be in a better state of mind than Yuri was and, luckily, there’s a lack of external pressure regarding her or she just hasn’t succumbed to them if there are any at all. Overall I think this was well-produced and aided in enlightening my earlier curiosities around Gahyeon’s relationship with food and body.

I think I'm one of those commentor and thank god this video clears everything, I'm glad that Gahyeon is happy and healthy.. i thought she's been into the unhealthy yoyo diet like usually K-Pop idols would do so as a fan I'm worried for her, but Gahyeon knows how to take care of herself which is a big relief ,the whole group actually.. Now I'm happy

I’m pretty sure there really is less pressure on her to lose weight. She’s in a company that supports the entire group, fans that respect them, and members who love each other wholeheartedly. Dreamcatcher is generally in a healthy environment (the only thing missing is popularity with the general public 😆 I’m waiting for the day they become known as artists just like Mamamoo 🤟🏽)

Discipline is the key! There’s no trick or magic That’s why she seems so much more confident than ever!! Her stage presence in this comeback (Scream) is much more noticeable! (She is very good in expressing facial expressions to begin with)

Vortex It was. I think all their eras are great actually. My favorites so far are You and I , Piri, Deja vu and scream. It’s just the outfits in Fly High were not flattering.

i think what has a lot to do with her relationship with dieting is that the company and fans don't pressure her, as well as the media. they're all more interested in music and content rather than worrying about their weight and that's why i love this fandom. no one is pressuring them about their image. just vibes. and she didn't seem to be bothered either, she lost weight on her own terms and did so in a healthy way and that's all that matters. im just happy that our girls are happy, healthy and smiling. wishing all of you health and safety :)

I'm not sure if you're planning to do it, but recently have noticed Honda Hitomi from I*ZONE has lost a lot of weight this comeback (and she was always quite thin!) I feel like more and more people are feeling a bit concerned over her health. Have always liked how well researched and respectful your videos are - looking forward to your next ones!

What a great company Happy Face Entertainment is. 1. They redebuted the girls when their first debut was unsuccessful. 2. Didn't give up on them, when the concept for the second debut was unpopular in Korea. Finding other ways to promote them (e.g. overseas) 3. Doesn't force the girls to lose weight.

I went to their concert last year and even though they were all wearing black pants, their toned legs were showing. Their legs are very lean! I'm glad that they get to eat whatever they want. Also, gahyeon has been taking pilates training which seems to be very helpful in losing weight!

I don't care about other ent. Happy face entertainment is the best entertainment out there. Even while having only 500k sub they manage perfect outift, perfect staffs for make up and hair doers, best food. Best talented idols, best music, best nice staff and manager

I'm seriously glad that the company doesn't pressure them to diet, and all the members support each other to eat and sleep properly. That affects mental health positively, and allows them to balance everything well.

I recall Dreamcatcher saying they all lost weight for You and I, and I think Sua was on a diet that time. They still seemed lean and fit though and never out of energy. Sua then gained the weight back with some minor fluctuations over past 2 years but overall still being very fit. I think Dami had some fluctuations too but mostly stayed fit and strong over the years. I'm glad they don't feel pressured to lose weight and stay happy together

I only just started really following Dreamcatcher from Deja vu and I fell for her instantly because she (and all the other members) look healthy and happy and that makes listening and following a group so much better when you know that the idols are safe and happy too with no worries about abusive and neglectful companies.

I love this group so much, they’re concepts to the choreography and stage presence, they’re so talented! I was worried when I saw this video that there was something wrong but it looks like the girls are doing so well and looking after each other, so heart warming!

Just goes to show that girl groups don't need to go on extreme diets to be happy with their weight, they just need to maintain a healthy diet with workout and they will be much happier

It's a nice change from years past, where she should have been pressured to extreme diet (RV) or honestly looking at her back then, not even be allowed to debut. It's a huge difference that HappyFace was confident in her to just allow her to be an artist and her talent, and not focus on the weight.

She has also mentioned doing pilates and she's always mentioning that she's constantly workingout, once (during Good night or fly high era) if i remember well the girls said on a vlive that even after a long day of activities Gahyeon still went to workout at night.. all of them have mentioned about workingout and they look great and healthy. Honestly all of them are body goals and inspiration to people who would like to lose weight like me.. such hardworking girls. 😊👏

i also think since gahyeon is so young her body is still maturing. her body was so cute and reminding of mine but now she just looks like her bones and metabolism are getting naturally matured bc of her exercise (dancing and all) and I’m glad it looks so.. not forced

I really think she just lost teenager fat. Their routines are pretty rigorous, look at their legs. Shes also the shortest and her body type(shape) is a bit different than the other girls. Idk I’ve just never been worried about them. 🤷🏻♀️
