@@orenico96 I have seen Dr. John at minimum 6 times and have a picture of him hanging in my music room which he signed for me. Leon Russell one of the all time greats and Ahmad Jamal a very nice player but in my opinion if you want to talk jazz piano players -- go to cats like Horace Silver, Red Garland, Elmo Hope, Wynton Kelly (there are others), and then the masters Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington and Sun Ra.

In the 70s that was not unusual. One of my litmus tests for a true artist is whether the music sounds as good or better live. I believe recordings cannot capture the quality of great artists. The good ones prove that when they step on stage.

They were writing their own music as a BAND and improvising. No huge computer enhancements to make them sound perfect and correct their pitches. They had to get it right on their own.. I'm not much for live versions. But Skunk sells this one. That solo gave me chills.

Amen! WOW! 2 great solos in this live performance. I could almost see smoke coming out of those strings from Skunk's solo. And Micheal's piano at the end is just beautiful. Nowadays all I can expect is that stupid millennial bird whooping crap that they have to throw in every pop song.

Michael McDonald went to the high school where I taught. I was teaching after he had left, but he was a big name and huge talent that the school still refuses to honor. I think that God gave him and the Doobie Brothers the talent and drive and gift that has touched millions. He has done far more than that school ever expected. Shame on them for not recognizing his gift! But God does reward! Thank you Michael and the Doobie Brothers!!! God sees you.
