I don't think he had such bad stage fright, considering he was the front man for two bands b4 the Eagles when he was young, and he did great afterwards in his solo career as front man. I think he just did not care for being in the actual spotlight! Singled out as if he were the only person on the stage. He just did not have that kind of ego!

Such a shame how Randy was treated shortly after giving this amazing performance. He got the shaft for someone who was not into drama, quiet and just wanted to play beautiful music. Glenn and Don were wrong to not let Randy come back for future performances and award shows. He was such an integral piece to this band! In my opinion, these 5 guys were the best of any Eagles lineup before or after this concert!!

They never wanted him to fail. They wanted more from him, but he didn't want to be out front in the spotlight. He just wanted to make music and play in the band. @@joe-nf7cf That was a response to the original post that the band appeared to be cheering him on. My point was that I don't believe the common story out there was that the band wanted him out and didn't like him. Most of us are familiar with the story that the band (mostly Frey and Henley) were generally shitty to Randy and pushed him out of the band because he wasn't a team player. The story is that it all came to a head after a backstage fight between Frye and Meisner (that story is disputed). It's also disputed that Meisner refused to sing the song or was afraid to sing the song because he might miss the high note. I was agreeing that of course they were cheering him on and wanted him to do well, because his success equaled their success. One of the highlights of their shows was this song and Randy's high note at the end. But they ultimately couldn't get on because they wanted a showman and not a introverted session musician. Who knows what Henley's mindset was here in this video/performance. Maybe he was just concentrating on his performance.

The backing vocals during the second verse are just flawless. I love how at around the 2:32 mark you can hear Henley come in very prominently when they sing “…can’t find it anywhere…” You know your band is stacked with talent when Don Henley’s voice isn’t the best choice to deliver a song. Randy’s performance here was untouchable. This Eagle’s lineup was by far the most dynamic and much of it was due to what Randy Meisner brought to the group. This performance is proof of that! I think we all love this song so much because we were all from the same generation when the Eagles were performing live❤ however, this particular song,, brings back awesome memories of me driving in a 1957 Chevy convertible car,, driving at about 120 mph on an empty highway. As we were driving, this song came on. We didn't get off. We didn't follow any of the signs. We just kept driving towards this bridge. That was a usual occurrence to always do something spontaneously when you're only 18 years old. 🎉🎉The sky was the limit. So I believe our generation, those people born from the 1950s and to '60s lived their lives to the fullest. We enjoyed the music. we just enjoyed life because we were free. We had no commitments, we had nothing to lose., therefore, life at that time was just one big party 🎉🎉 Thank you Randy for playing a song that I must have listened to at least a thousand times. Did I learn anything from it? Absolutely not!! We all got away with everything and anything? And it felt great🎉🎉 5:03 5:03

I was fortunate to see The Eagles on their “Hotel California” tour back in 1977 at the Empire Pool, Wembley, London (now the Wembley Arena). To see Randy perform just this song and live was worth the ticket price. And all of the band’s vocals/harmonies were done without in - ear monitors because that technology didn’t exist! A lot of people like to hate on these guys but there's no denying how good they were back in the day. Randy's probs one of the best singers from that time period. He does some cool subtle vocal stuff in this tune and then the not so subtle stuff too.

Take it to the limits is a reminder of a lonely, frightened teenager in the 70's.... I can still feel the pain of not having nowhere to run😔 but God shows up when you least expect even when you don't even know him!!.. Thank God for that! Amen.

I was at this concert and I think it’s the best concert performance ever. The harmonies were so perfect, the crowd’s reaction to Randy's super high note, the way you all played. It’s an experience I will always remember. Thank you all
