Para mi, quiero ver una serie que ya he visto en inglés. Por exemplo, he visto Avatar the Last Airbender en inglés muchas veces. Ahora lo veo en español. Ya conozco la historia muy bien; no entiendo cada palabra, pero entiendo la historia y poco a poco entiendo las palabras. Y es muy divertido de ver también!

I started doing this as well with some of my favorite childhood movies. It's much easier if you own them on DVD/BluRay though. Most of the streaming services don't offer a Spanish audio track, even though they almost always exist on the disc version

I started watching Destinos two months into learning Spanish. They helped sooooo much. It was one of the most helpful things I ever found online

I watched about 5-6 episodes of Destinos about 20 years ago, but rewatched the same episodes about 5 years later homeschooling some kids. I was surprised how much more I understood re-watching, even after all those years. The main thing, for me, is pronunciation by native speakers and engrossing story (forgetting that it's a language I don't know & just getting lost in the story). When I started with your Dreaming Spanish site, the Beginner videos were a bit to hard for me & I had to stay with SuperBeginner, at first. Then I "binge" watched Destinos -- going through the whole series in about 12 days (because I wanted to know what happened!! LOL). Now I'm understanding Intermediate videos and able to even follow simple podcasts (audio only input designed for beginners). The narrator speaks a lot of English to start - but that fades away after the first few Destinos episodes. Just getting to Intermediate opens up so much more input sources! LOVE Dreaming Spanish! The SuperBeginner and Beginner levels are so important for "breaking into" comprehension and open up so much more content -- I'm so grateful that you are making them for us all. Gracias! @@TheRachelDJ I watched the first few episodes of Destinos 15 years ago, then binge watched the whole thing all the way through just before I wrote that comment, 6 months ago, when I first started working seriously with Dreaming Spanish.

I would suggest the following series created for beginner language learners: - ¿Eres tú, María? (Very limited budget, almost hard to watch) - La Catrina - Buena Gente - Destinos (A bit more advanced) - Yabla (monthly subscription but interesting beginner content can be discovered) Español con Juan (Intermediate, but clear pronunciation)

Daniel Tiger is in Spanish also. You can find it in YT. I also sometimes watch Sesame Street in Spanish. But lately I just watch your channel. 👍

POCOYO!!! And you say it's just for kids, Pablo...I challenge any adult with a heart to not fall in love with it. The characters are adorable! Also on Netflix, I have found that both Charlie en Villacolores (Charlie's Colorform City) and StoryBots are a lot of fun in Spanish as well. They both are a little harder than Pocoyo but they have Spanish subtitles as well for those times when you listen to a part a few times and just don't understand. Is it bad that my 3-year-old nephew and I consume the same TV series? :) :)

I tried watching SpongeBob SquarePants in Spanish and could barely understand a thing. I’m grateful for these recommendations because not all children’s cartoons use simple language. I can understand most of the Spanish in Destinos and have found it very enjoyable. I’ll try Pepper Pig for some fun practice 🐽

Quiero decirte muchas gracias por tus recomendaciones! He visto "Extra" muchas veces y me gustaba mucho! A veces es un poco raro, porque los personajes hablan muy lento y claramente, no yo sé que es necesito para aprender idiomas. Estuve muy triste cuando la serie terminó.

I just hit level 2 on the DS website so I've been listening to some beginner videos, and I understand most of what I hear on the videos I've watched so far. However, I struggle with Peppa pig. I get the gist of what's being said but get lost quickly and easily so I don't think I'm quite ready for it. Hopefully by the time I've seen as many of the beginner videos as I can, it'll feel much easier. I find extras easier but I still plan on waiting a bit longer first. Thanks for all the videos!

6:44 To be fair to Destinos, while the Spanish isn't exactly authentic, the show was designed to make spoken Spanish as comprehensible as possible. I find the series excellent in that regard. Plus, English is spoken only in the first episode. That being said, the numerous recaps throughout the show were pretty annoying, and some episodes were recaps themselves. If the writers had toned that down, the show would have been much better. Oh, and I LOVE the other series, except for Mundo Zamba, which I have never watched.

Agree! I love the plot of Destinos and I liked the review questions during each episode but all the reviews of past episodes got old real fast! I wanted to follow the storyline. The new series, Nuevo Destinos is about 90% review. Very disappointing.

I’m a premium subscriber to your web site. I’ve been watching beginner/super beginner videos in reverse order from newest to oldest. I had been exposed to Destinos when I took Spanish in College, and I was wondering what you thought of it.

Pablo, you obviously didn't watch all of Destinos. I just finished episode 16. English is slowly phased out so that starting with episode 14, it is entirely in Spanish. So that is 39 episodes with less English (as in none) than Extra and of better production quality. And I don't mean to imply anything negative about Extra because I enjoyed it.

Your videos are excellent and I love how you are following Dr Krashen's comprehensible input hypothesis. I have looked and looked but can't find anywhere a clear guide on what to do next. I downloaded your roadmap but I am still unclear on exactly what to do. Please could you either respond here or make a video explaining what one should do once they begin to understand. My guess is to increase the complexity of the thing you are listening to but at what point do you start to speak...and how will that develop? Gracias por tus videos!

Everything is in the roadmap! Including when you can and should start making friends and doing social activities in the language. There's not much you need to do to start talking, other than having received enough input. The little practice you need is just about learning to coordinate the muscles in your mouth to produce the right sounds, and that will happen naturally and quite fast when you need to speak because you're in the country or making friends with whom you speak Spanish.

Vale, Yo vi Extra antes y me gusta. Y yo vi un pelicula Argentina, “Relatos Salvajes”. Muy bueno y interesante pelicula. Tambien el director tiene un otra tv serie se llama “Los simuladores”. Gran produccion!

I currently have 120 hours of input from super beginner and beginner dreaming Spanish. I can understand Pocoyo quiet well but I find it way too childish to watch. Peppa pig I can pick out some words but its too fast and there's too many words I don't know for me to understand what they are saying, I'll come back to this when I have more hours. Extra - I understood almost all of the words in the first 4 episodes and really enjoyed it, then in episode 5 (start of series 2) the level goes up and I couldn't understand anything.

I agree Peppa Pig is super fast at normal speed and have had an easier time by playing it at .75 (click the gear icon to find playback speed). I should also admit I often watch the same episode more than once. I’m only about 40 hours ahead of you but have been experiencing some wonderful jumps in those last 30. I’ll bet a similar experience lies just around the corner for you.

Si, me gusta mucho EXTRA también, esto es muy divertido y interesante. Siempre buscando algo no aburrido por aprender. Vi esto series en inglés cuando estudiaba ingles y me sorprendió que existe en español. Y gracias por recomendación tv shows en español de España, para mí fue difícil encontrar algo en español de España ,empezar de EXTRA, español con Juan y después encontró tu canal y por eso aprendí mucho

para mi, me gusta anime doblando en español. por ejemplo, puede ver muchos animes con crunchyroll simuldub o netflix originales en español. mis favoritos ahora con doblando son black clover (porque es facil y rapido), guardianes de la noche (demon slayer), konosuba, y entrevistas con chicas monstruos. Todos son sobre crunchyroll.
