The Clark Michigan 675 is my #1 favorite old classic heavy equipment piece. I know they made bigger and better and newer ones, but this is the coolest one of all.

to see that a company like Clark/Michigan that produced such awesome loaders had to leave the industry.

And I thought my clark 175B was huge!! This really is a monster, even for today's standards.

this is when americans did what we do best, built and dreamed, companies stood behind their product mostly and workers, men/women weren't afraid to be offended or work a job that gets your hands dirty. now days, we are lazy and don't dream as much or want to get our hands dirty or think we are always owed or cry because one person said something or a fool paid for their stupidity but yet they blame it on others. Sad watching these old videos, see the old trades and other things that have disappeared due to upper management micro managing and thinking they know whats best instead of listening to the workers or getting rid of workers. I could be wrong to, but its sad to see it though, just watch the video from the workers at Carrier.

One drawback of the Michigan 675 when introduced was its tire size.Tires then weren t just big enough for it.In this video the 675 is equipped with Goodyear 36.00-51,58PR(L4)tires which were the biggest tires back then.They weren t sufficient for it.The tire life span for these Goodyears was just 200-300 hours.Later on in 1976 Goodyear introduced the right tire for the massive 675 which was the 67-51XT,54PR(L-5) which was the right tire for this big wheel loader.Overall just 18 675s built

These great men needed only 2things to do this job @10:00 - Mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work. NOW, they would be required to take months of "Sensitivity Training" !!

great video. The letourneau is a great machine but to me did not have the retro look of the clark michigan 675 kitted right out with the larger tyes and larger rock bucket which i believe was 25 sq yard ! This machine was awesome -then i beliieve they did a 50 square yard coal bucket but proved to big as in the 475 had a 12 yard rock and had a 25 yard coal bucket ,,

I hope I'm not sounding presumptuous or anything like that, its just that you cant really compare the two loaders, they aren't really on the same level. But there's nothing wrong with the Cats either, any machine from this era is awesome, I love them all. Cat was smart anyways, they focused on business acquisitions that actually had something to do with heavy equipment... not buying French financial organizations like Clark was. I'm glad Cat is still around, they were smart... but I'm sad

sorry guys i meant the cat 992/4 series even still i still think the michigan was the best looker! mean and looked like it was put together with thought. Thanks for these videos i thought it had all been forgotten. I have posted some pics of the uk ones fabricated at jack oldings hatfield Its under myspace with the name sldolding- Thanks

@generationll That being said, I still think that the 675B was far superior to the 992, maybe not quite so much the C but definitely the B model. Wait a sec, the 992B only had a bucket capacity around 10 cubic yards and the 992C only went up to about 13, so how are you comparing these loaders anyways??

I feel like a pussy with my Dana 30
@MotoScootMech13 жыл бұрын
@generationll Yes but that doesn't necessarily mean that the 992 was the best wheel loader. You have to take into account the sales and management of each individual company. Clark engineers were the best out there at the time, but the business managers sucked and bought basically every company they could and overdiversified. This resulted in the subsequent failure of Clark/Michigan loaders because the company had failed, not because the wheel loader had failed.
