My name is Denise. I have been a psychotherapist for 38 years. I have been a writer since 9 years old, writing as a form of therapy and also keeping journals charting the pits, the peaks and becoming in my life's sojourn and journey. It's been some kind of journey! But I have arrived!! To the precious eternal time of always Now!!!
I became a published author - a Dream come true - in 2021 of my first book, in what I call The Back to love series, Back to Love. Followed in 2023 by Book two in the series, Inner Life Writes: A Manifesto For Re-connecting to love, Re-newing your mind and radiating your light.
I used my journals to put & weave together Back to love.
About Back to Love 📚👉🏾
Back to love is my autobiographical healing journey. It begins in 1982 when at the tender age of 17 I make the decision to become a mother- a decision that changes my life, forever. Back to love spans 22 years and shares & tells the story of my self-rediscovery, which involved necessary healing on the psychological, spiritual, social, and racial planes; an healing undertaken more keenly after I experienced what was then in 1987 called a Nervous Breakdown. This Mental health crisis- which I go on to more aptly reframe as a Spiritual Breakthrough- was brought on by a range of unacknowledged traumas experienced in childhood and triggered at that time in 1987 by a toxic romantic relationship and a troubled relationship with food, namely Bulimia. This book offers hope and the message that: however ones life starts out, however the world tries to bury one in "statistic," that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and there's THAT SOMETHING INSIDE so strong that can help us make it through, begin again, and go on to live mostly joyous, purposeful, wholehearted and complete lives, according to how we choose to experience it 💯
