Potential causes of an ulcer: • Stress • Nutritional deficiencies • H. pylori • NSAIDs The most common medication for ulcers is Prilosec. This medication works by stopping the acid production in your stomach. While Prilosec can help people with ulcers, it comes with side effects. Potential side effects of Prilosec: • Vomiting • Gas • Nausea • Headaches • Abdominal pain • Increased risk of dementia • Increased risk of C. diff • Increased risk of pneumonia • Increased risk of bone fractures • Increased risk of kidney inflammation • Increased risk of polyps Cabbage can potentially put H. pylori in remission or kill H. pylori. However, if you cook cabbage for too long, you will kill the beneficial compounds. It's best to consume raw cabbage, cabbage juice, steamed cabbage, or fermented cabbage for ulcers. Thank you Dr Berg!!

When I had gastritis drinking cabbage juice made me feel worse. More pain when I drink cabbage juice. What helped me was glutamine pills and GI sustain powder from Metagenics. When I took PPI’s I suffered neurological damage which caused my sleep function to be disabled for a month. Eventually sleeping pills helped together with benzodiazepines. My brain felt inflamed and burning and sometimes bled through my nose. I used to vomit blood (like coffee grounds) . Doctors minimised and invalidated my suffering by just giving me antidepressants (never helped me sleep) and sending me to psychologists who just kept telling me that I’m stressed. I had nothing to stress over. I was living my best life but people kept talking about stress and I never received medical recognition appropriately. Two years of torture and I eventually found a doctor who recognized that the PPI’s damaged my brain together with taking antidepressants which further almost killed me. She injected me with a neurological injections of folinic , glutathione and magnesium. I started healing. I suffer now from PTSD and apathy from the torture that doctors and psychologists inflicted on me.

Holy shit. Thanks for sharing your story. Cabbage juice is tricky because it causes lots of bloating and if you don’t take lots of gas x throughout the day (at least 3/day) it’s hard to drink the juice daily. If not multiple times. I hope you continue your healing journey!!

Dr. Berg. I watch your videos everyday & I never comment but I just have to this one time. I follow a keto & IF diet (most of the time). I have an ulcer. It used to be so bad that I would be uncomfortable with pain all the time. I try to eat one meal a day & I always eat a salad (amongst other things, protein etc…) The salad I eat is almost always a cabbage salad. Green cabbage & red cabbage. A while back I noticed my ulcer is nowhere near as painful as it used to be. In fact I would say it’s probably healed half way up. I thought it was attributed to the keto/IF/OMAD lifestyle. But now I’m started to think maybe it was the cabbage! So I’m trying to say. That this is true. Eating cabbage on a regular basis, organic cabbage, will in fact help heal an ulcer! (I’ve also lost heaps of weight & feel better) 👍☺️👌

The beneficial sauerkraut is the variety that's kept refrigerated at the store since it hasn't been pasteurized so the beneficial bacteria cultures are still active. The sauerkraut you find on the shelf has been pasteurized and has, therefore, lost most of its benefits, including losing the sulfur compounds that kill the ulcer-causing bacteria as mentioned in this video, due to the heat used in the pasteurization process.

Omg love this video! I suffered from ulcers in grad school and researched naturopathic remedies and cabbage juice was the TOP recommendation. I juiced 2-3x a day for 10 days and my discomfit totally disappeared. Truly amazing. I also cut out acidic things like tomato products and coffee. My fave recipe: 1/4 cabbage, 2 green apples, 1 orange. Refrigerate for 20 mins.

After about a decade of dealing with stomach/digestive issues, being prescribed Pantoprazole, Omeprazole, Antibiotics, etc. I can say that NOTHING has work as well as raw cabbage juice for me. After 5 days, the pain stopped. I juiced red & green cabbage together & added turmeric. Heading into day 7 now, I wouldn't be surprised if my ulcers are completely healed but I'm gonna continue the juicing for at least another week or 2. If you haven't already, please do yourself a favor & give cabbage juice a shot. It seems to have serious healing qualities. I appreciate you Dr. Berg for spreading the information. Thank you

@@kingjaffri87 you make cabbage juice and leave it one day at room temperature (for good bacteria to multiply) and then you put it in refrigerator and you can use it a couple of days. @Stasha K Do you think H. Pylori ever really goes away? Or does it never go away?
@STANKEBG
@STANKEBG Жыл бұрын
@@_smithta well it does not really matter, because majority of people have it inside the stomach in small numbers and it does not make any problems. When balance in stomach is disturbed (too much acid, lesions, viral infections, when protective barrier inside the stomach is broken) than h.pylori uses its chance and multiplies in large numbers and then we have symptoms and that make us ill. So the point is to keep it under control. If you are more sensitive to this, than you can expect that you will probably have the symptoms again in life, when your stomach balans become disturbed again.

Like clockwork, my Dad (75y.o. and still working) has had ulcer bleeding for the past 3 Springs 2020-2022. His hemoglobin drops to 9.6 and lower. The first time this happened he ended up in the hospital with a 6.6 hemoglobin! After several blood transfusions, the doctors at the hospital performed scopes and found several ulcers, but nothing was done to prevent them other than putting him on “bandaids”. Since that 10-day hospital visit, I started learning about the benefits of cayenne. The next year, it happened again. This time I had cayenne tincture in my medicine cabinet (I made myself using habaneros). I gave him cayenne tincture….probably 4 Tablespoons! HOT! That night rather than running to the hospital, he wanted to sleep in his own bed. The next morning I gave him more cayenne, and he went to the hospital. They ran a scope and said they couldn’t explain it, but the bleeding had stopped - on it’s own. They asked what he did….He told them about the cayenne tincture , but that answer was dismissed….that can’t be the reason for the bleeding to stop. This Spring 2022, here we go again. You would think he would learn to tell me right away, but he waited a month. He went in for blood test and his hemoglobin was down to 9.6. Right away I started him on my cayenne tincture . I also made a recipe for potassium broth using beets, onions, garlic, celery and hot peppers. The doctor wanted to wait a week for another blood test at which point his hemoglobin was beginning to rise. The doctor(s) couldn’t explain why the bleeding stopped and his hemoglobin levels started to improve. My Dad is not a fan of the cayenne, but I add a bit of honey to it and warm water in a shot glass every morning. He is doing a lot better! I will be going with him to his doctor appointment to discuss the home remedies compared to the physician prescribed pharmaceutical solutions.

I reversed my ulcer by using slippery elm. I get it from the HF store, in bulk (sometimes only capsules are available) like making tea, into a mug of hot water (or broth) I scoop a heaping spoonful of the powdered herb & stir till disolved. Helpful for sore throats & IBS also. The slippery elm becomes a shield coating protecting the ulcer from constantly encountering more damage and this, in turn, allows time & room for the effected area to actually heal. Btw fun fact history edition; Slippery elm had a hand in the union winning the US civil war- a battalion of union troops were surrounded by confederates who were blockading any supplies from reaching the trapped men. The union guys found an abundance of naturally growing slippery elm & lived off of it throughout the seige. After days of no movement, Confederates assumed everyone was starved dead or extremely weak, needless to say it was a trap & the confederates walked right into it.

I am ashamed to tell this story. 1953, every morning, as a teenager I went for a walk to deliver newspapers for 4 years. Occasionally I had a hangover caused by drinking too much moonshine. I always carried Standback (a powder for headache) in my wallet. I would take it when needed without water. Later, it resulted in stomach pains. Doctor found with x-rays an ulcer. the only treatment was a strict diet of milk and crackers to coat the stomach for 6 weeks, then only very lite diet like soups. 1957, At age 17, I went into the Air Force, I was still being treated for the ulcer, but failed to tell the Air Force.

The best way to heal any kind of gut issues is with a diet of high fibre, diversified foods. I read ‘Fibre Fuelled’ by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, followed his instruction, and my gastritis and esophagitis symptoms were gone in about 2 weeks. Very few doctors know what foods you really need to put in your body to cure these gut issues, which is why they predominantly advise taking meds and cutting down on certain things (alcohol, fried foods), as opposed to feeding your gut microbiome with the types of dietary fibre it needs. Eat as many different types of plants/fruits/seeds/nuts/beans as you can and your gut will heal. It took me 2 weeks. Best of luck!

I just graduated yesterday (yay!), but the whole antibiotic and ppi process was awful, I had heart palpatations and extreme food sensitivity. They told me it would get worse if I didn't take two weeks of the antibiotics & ppi, and at the time I didn't know what else to do, I certainly didn't want it to get worse... so I took it, and suffered through that.. and I still regret it 100%. I still have candida side effects from all of that now and my stomach is always bloated and I can't eat spicy food or the things I used to. It's sad. Never was much of a junk eater but did have a lot of stress in my life. One day in my 40's I woke up and couldn't fight through the stomach pain to go to work like I had always done before. Went to the doc, he sent me to the hospital and i had 2 large bleeding ulcers eating through my large intestine. Had emergency surgery that same day and had to have my large intestine removed. They called it Ulcerative colitis. I now have a permanent ileostomy and Crohn's.

Everyone used to eat cabbage soup, it was a staple in restaurants. Older people ate it for their stomachs and the younger crowd to loose weight. So when it cooks does it destroy the compounds or just deposit them in the broth? Is cabbage soup still an option?

Yes, just don't over cook it. Only a few minutes.

What kind of dosage of juice are we taking about? Was on Prilosec for so many years that I had forgotten how bad the side effects were until I got off of it. Dead legs, vomiting at night, messed with my blood sugars, ravenous hunger. The list goes on. Still on a small dose of famotidine but would like to get off it completely! Thanks for the video!

@Dr. Berg Hi Dr. Berg. Does it matter which type of cabbage you eat such as Napa, Asian or regular ordinary cabbage. Napa cabbage has such a different texture than the round cabbages so Im wondering if it will have the same benefits? I know you said color doesnt matter but type is my question. Thank you for your very informative channel!

100%...I'm getting an upper endoscopy done next week to see how my ulcer is doing and the way I felt earlier this month compared to now is night and day. I was prescribed PPIs but that was still not enough. I implemented red cabbage juice and noticed huge difference in just one week.
