This week, Grand Prix Dressage rider and trainer Natasha Althoff shows you around at her Riding Institute in Australia. Natasha introduces you to her horses and gives you some advice on how to take your riding to the next level and become a successful rider. Her own riding success story started off, like for many others, with a passionate love for horses. Her institutes gives lessons to young riders where they can ride on FEI horses and tries to help them overcome fears and experience what a connection to a horse really feels like.

I am 51 and I started riding at 49. It is a dream come true. I would love to ride in a barn like that one. Thank you for your motivation. The trainer motivation is so important and I feel fortunate because I have a good trainer.

I agree, having a good trainer makes all the difference! I'm also really fortunate to have an amazing trainer. Good on you for realizing your dream. Sometimes I lament getting into riding so "late" (I'm 30 and started at 28) but really it doesn't matter at all. The point is that we have been able to start doing something we always wanted to do and we're loving it. It's not necessarily a big handicap either - with age comes maturity and experience which are sooo valuable no matter what you're doing. My mum just completed her first uni degree at age 62 a couple of years ago. She hadn't done any studying whatsoever since high school. But because she was set on doing the degree to a high standard, she learned the skills she needed to learn and her maturity and organization skills gave her a huge advantage, and she ended up earning mostly Distinctions and High Distinctions. But most importantly, making the choice to go through uni gave her a sense of confidence like she never had before and it's made such a big and positive difference in her life since then.

I discovered Tash about 1 year ago, but my fascination only really took off 4 or 5 months ago. In that time I've learned so much from the YRS Team. I really want to commend Tash for her phenomenal drive, passion, commitment & level of achievement- in her own riding, her vision, & her business world! I wish I had discovered her earlier, to be able to visit The Institute & to experience all she was offering at that time from her home base! What brilliant facilities! OMG, my dream property, the horses, the tack, the arena etc!!! I loved to hear your story, & see into your world!! Pity I missed that opportunity, but still love to be able to look back! Very inspirational, thankyou for sharing! ❤🐴🐴🐴🙏🙏🙏

A stallion has the wow factor. They add more flair to every movement. They are also super strong and muscular which is beneficial in moving up the dressage training scale. It’s also beneficial for breeding purposes to have your stallion getting high percentages in competition. All aspects of such can be passed onto progeny.
