An absolute master piece. I live in apart of Asia where we don't have walnuts. But sure would like to have it like a decorative and functional piece of art to display.

Beautiful work. I would melt the chips down and make a casting of a walnut. A brass walnut to stand in for the real thing while the nutcracker sits on display.

That is an extremely cool idea! Have to figure out how to do that without a proper casting setup 😂 Thank you!

Nice nutcracker. Forge the chips back into a billet. Wouldn't require much heat. Good job.

Oh, wow, gorgeous! It also works very well to break the shell while keeping the meat whole. That's perhaps not important when eating nuts out of hand, but it is for certain candy recipes.

Beautiful work as always. Love how you cut the threads and used scotchbrite for that matt finish. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the brass shavings/chips.

Perfect work. I like it very much. Could you buy this super good nutcracker somewhere? You can still make tinsel out of the first one, i.e. the turning shavings. For a Christmas tree. Many thanks for this tutorial.

Now that much better explains all the brass shavings. Beautiful. What a nice piece to have in your home. Do you think the brass threading will gall with repeated use since it will be under load? Maybe a stupid question.
@DrHutOfHandcraft
@DrHutOfHandcraft 6 ай бұрын
Thank you once again, much appreciated! No definitely not a stupid question. I think it depends on how much you use it, but all in all it shouldn’t wear of much because the pressure you need to crack a walnut isn’t that much. Maybe a little bit, but shouldn’t be that problematic
@BB_Chaptsick
@BB_Chaptsick 6 ай бұрын
Perhaps a very light food based lubricant would help too. Anyways, great little item. If ever you wanted to make another and sell it, I’d certainly be interested. Have a happy holiday and an enjoyable New Year’s Eve if you don’t post between now and then.
@DrHutOfHandcraft
@DrHutOfHandcraft 6 ай бұрын
@@BB_Chaptsick Hm yeah, maybe even grease, because that would kind of damp the pressure if you know what I mean. But like I said I think the wear is negligible. Thank you for your interest, I really appreciate it. But I think it would be too expensive, only the material cost quite some money, let alone the work haha
