How much electricity does it produce?

Thanks for contacting us. The internal battery bank is 6000 mAh. A milliampere-hour (mAh) is one-thousandth of an ampere hour (Ah), which can also be written as 1 mAh = 0.001 Ah. The unit can also be used to charge additional external battery banks while in operation. Here is a calculation/conversion table link for mAh to energy in Watt Hours (Wh) - www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/mah-to-wh-calculator.html Any other questions please let us know. Thanks,

@@EarthSense: What a strange and somewhat deceptive unit to choose to describe the capacity of the battery; why wouldn’t a person come right out and speak about it in terms of amps instead of mAh? Or maybe come right out and speak about the volts and watts that people are accustomed to thinking in? Myself, and a friend are looking for something to generate more energy than we can, with our current set up, Which is why your infomercial hair got my attention to begin with. It sort of feels like a bit of a red flag. I would definitely correct that if I were selling this unit; It’s sort of has the effect of making the customer think that s/he’d stick with the biolite or fire charger that they use, Because it doesn’t make it a whole lot clearer that they’d be able to generate much more power in the same amount of time.

@@daphneraven6745 Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your perspective on this topic and would like to learn more. Freedom Stoves is by no means trying to deceive anyone in the charging capability of this unit, but rather thought it was a more accurate description of the charging capabilities of the unit itself. This camp stove is intended to charge small 4v batteries like you would find in cell phones, tablets, or portable power supplies used to run LED camp lighting. We want the consumer to understand this is not going to generate enough power for someone trying to live “off the grid” or that it will run their home during a power outage situation and felt the mAh description would make that more clear. If you wouldn’t mind sharing as you and your friend have been doing your research, what do you feel would be the best way for Freedom Stoves to publish this type of information so you can easily compare units? Just amperage or wattage? Anything else? Again, appreciate your feedback and hope to hear back from you. Thanks!

I bought one a couple years ago and it died after one use. I followed all instructions etc battery died then TEG died because of water pump not running due to battery dying.

Thanks for contacting us, so sorry to hear of the issue here. When this happened were you able to contact us and go over the warranty? The camp stove has a 1 year manufacturer warranty on it. You do need cold water which circulates to cool the teg chip, and create the electricity. It does state to charge the unit with the supplied wall outlet adapter for the first use to ensure the battery has some juice. Were you able to charge the battery on a wall outlet before the first use as outlined in the manual? If the unit is started with a dead battery or close to dead, it can fry the teg chip. If you were not able to call in when this happened to cover warranty procedure the unit would now be past the 1 year manufacturer warranty. If this is the case and you would like a replacement we would be happy to offer you a 50% discount on a new one given the circumstance. Just let us know, happy to help how we can. Thanks.

Thanks for the message. This is a thermo-electric generator (TEG) camp stove. Cold water and fire come together to charge the internal battery in the camp stove. Any other questions please let us know. Thanks!

Crazy it needs water to stay cool. Other units need the heat to produce more power. Seems inefficient maybe add more Thermo-Electric pads to the design for higher output. Maybe?

Thanks for the message. The water is not for the unit to stay cool, the water works in part with the flame/heat to generate electricity. It's a Thermo Electric Generator design, also known as "TEG". The colder the water added, the quicker electricity is generated to the internal battery bank and external battery bank if connected. It's a great device to provide some warmth and cook meals off grid while generating electricity for any appliances that need it. Any other questions or comments just let us know. Thanks.

An off grid thermo electric generator should run on wood, not pellets. If pellets are required you have to shop for them. Things like that don' make much sense if you need to rely on society operating as normal so that you can get fuel for it.

We Agree! The camp stove can run on wood, pellets or charcoal. Thank you for the feedback and if you have any questions please let us know.
