You could have the fans that protect the unit run on a completely seperate circuit with their own designated generators. That way they'd be on whenever heat was present and protection was needed regardless of load on the other circuit when in use. Takes away all the risk of ever burning out and also would run as a heater whenever there was enough to trigger the fans. I'm not an electrician at all but it's screaming out to me as I watch this. It can protect itself easily without any responsibility on the end user.

I suggest making a hybrid with a small stirling engine also powering the fans so airflow never stops when heated... Or making a convection based airflow by heating a separate metal tube that connects to the unit via non thermal conducting tubes

Current or load control circuit must add to the unit to protect the device from over loading, fan needs to spin always as long as the generator generates power to cool the system down non stop.

Ok so I'm interested in buying a few of these for off grid cabin BUT the biggest downside is you must always be there to supervise the unit. You said it can generate electricity 24 hours a day BUT does the conversion kit assure that the system fans will continue to work without overloading the system? What happens if I'm out hiking and my stove starts to cool off a bit. It's not hot enough to generate the power needed in charging devices hooked up and the fans but still warm enough to over heat the unit. I want a full proof system that doesn't need constant monitoring. Why not a stirling hot air motor hooked up to a turbine??? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cut down on cost you can protect your fans and short circuit by adding a capacitor Bank to smooth out voltage and load and add a full Bridge rectifier after the capacitor bank and a bypass rectifier for short circuit protection

I would worry about the cable that seems to be resting against the edge of the top of the stove.

USeful device but needs some more refinements in my modest opinion. I appreciate the difficulties of developing such a unit (its not as easy as it seems) but in my opinion it would benefit of having protection circuitry for overload (i.e. the cooling fans are prioritized to a safe level)

Exactly one of the benefits to help circulate warm air throughout your residence or dwelling rather than going straight up acting like an HVAC, and you could hurt purify your air at the same time while recharging your a renewable energy source😊

Do you have cold air intake piping accessories and stove fresh air supplies? If you do a video of this this setup would be very impressive. Heating incoming fresh air off the TEG then injecting it directly into the stove should be very efficient in the overall heating cycle.

You would think you would design Sims in your diodes in there somehow so that if the voltage drop below a certain point it would disconnect whatever your charging and eliminate the problem it's so the fan would always be running. What's the longest this unit has run for anybody. It's a great idea there's no doubt about it because ideally if you have an automatic temperature regulating system to sing should last forever it is a great idea except this whole concept of not stopping the use of electricity if you're using too much is an Achilles heel who were the kind of money such a unit cost you can't screw around

Hmmm with a Overload Protection System and wrapped around the Pipe or Rear-End of a "GStove" would be interesting

Could you use two automotive oil coolers or radiators and a small low voltage electric pump and create a closed loop between outside freezing temps to the cool side of the Peltier.. Circulate oil or antifreeze to give a much lower leeching temp to the Peltier. This way pulling more heat away then just ambient room tempter cooling.

Very little engineering would have allowed the unit to have shut the load off automatically when the fan voltage dropped below a certain threshold. What is the matter with yourself?

This seems to be developed by industrial controls people. That is not a compliment. I've worked in IT as a Network Operations Manager for years, and some of the worst stuff I've had to deal with has been industrial controls (HVAC controls, door controllers, etc). My theory is that they try to piece together "units" of different types that kindof do part of a thing they are trying to do and get it to mostly work and sell it. I'm basing the comparison on the fact that overloading the output can shut the fans down and "damage the unit." The protections for that would have been cheap, simple, and would use no power to speak of during normal operations. So, TEGpro has designed something that will probably do mostly ok as long as you treat it with kit-gloves. A good design to do this with protections would have been very easy and cost wouldn't be an issue. Edit: Wow. Now I see. They saw the problem and instead of handling it, they point to you a product that handles it. Problem says you? Sales opportunity says I.

Could the 45w version be used to charge a 110ah leisure battery ? Obviously not in one night but say during the week ? so I could then run say a laptop for a couple of a hours a week from the battery .

The power output is really for emergency use only. At 45W running 24/7 you get around 1kWh of energy in a day and it probably won't work all day every day. Better buy a solar panel (or two), one cheap 12V MPPT and four 300Ah LFP cells. You get 3.8kWh of storage and some useful power, depending on the inverter.

SUGGESTION: * The only thing I can see that could be a problem is that the electrical cord is to close to the stove and could melt. * Yes, you could move your unit to the side of the stove top but, as we all know, that area receives less heat from inside the stove and I'm assuming that your unit would produce less power... maybe I'm wrong. * If you designed your unit to have some type of "extension" or "overhang" that takes the electrical cord away from all the heat on top of the stove, then you would reduce the likelihood of melting any of the cables. This thing as is, looks like an insurance nightmare. I have some suggestions though if you would like to hear them. Expecting the customer to make sure the fans keep spinning after they plug something in, is really risky and arguably an unrealistic expectation. Some things might start off not causing the fans to stop spinning, but after some time they might draw just slightly more and the fans could stop after u walk away. If you sell something separate as a safety mechanism for this concern, I'd consider selling it as part of the unit as is, because as is, this unit without a safety circuit or alarm on it to alert the user to a problem such as the fans dying for whatever reason, those fans could heat up to a point they catch fire. Pretty big insurance risk. All you need though is some kind of alarm circuit at least. Perhaps you could put a thermal switch that triggers an alarm if temps go above safe limits where the fans are. OR you could put a switch circuit attached near the fans that can detect if one of the fans are failing. One last thing... If ur using some kind of circuit to monitor if the fans are working, I'd make sure that isn't relying on weather or not there is a draw from the power source to the fan. A fan that has failed due to fault, or a fan that has failed due to too much heat could still be drawing power while not spinning/spinning properly. This generator is a really awesome idea, but it really really needs a solid safety mechanism that is attached by default. Preferably multiple safety mechanisms such as having both: 1. A thermal detection alarm that sets off an alarm when safe temps at the TEC's are exceeded. 2. Another alarm switch that can detect if the fans are actually spinning, rather than just detect the draw of power to the fan because as described above, there are some circumstances in which a fan may not spin properly but still be drawing power. I would imagine this would be difficult to grt past insurance brokers at a good price. But if you really go ham on those safety measures, I'd bet you could get shose quotes down.

if its not water cooled its just a toy, made to look like something that its not. Like reliable, dependable, durable. order your own teg tiles, water cooled heat exchanger. and build your own for a lot less than this toy would cost. just remember you only have so much power to work with, and if your appliance draws to much than your cool new system won't satisfy your needs

So this generator has to be monitored 24/7 so the fans do not stop turning. Good prototype but still needs a lot of work to make it viable.

We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.
