While I'm personally more like Rhaeneyra, Alicent has plenty of good reasons to be fed up with her. I know if my kid lost an eye, even without the other shit, I'd have probably reacted similarly. Also, Aemond didn't steal anyone's dragon. His previous owner is dead. It's callous, I agree, but he didn't steal anything from anyone. Rhaeneyra is playing just as many games as everyone else.

Alicent and the Greens have a lot of problems but seems the criticism is one way. Not saying it's nice what Alicent did but Alicent demanding an eye for an eye would probably be normal protocol in a pseudo-medieval setting like this. We saw this in episode 1 with Daemond delivering "justice" to criminals. Also, parents act irrational when something happens to their kids. Many people judging Alicent for that would likely act the similar in a medieval setting Also, why are we skirting over the fact that Rhaenyra is trying to pass illegitimate kids as heirs to the iron throne?

Not surprised that the same director and cinematographer that did the Long Night did this episode 💀

Fans going "sentence Alicent to death" "kill her" "touching Princess is treason”. So we just gonna forget that child who got his eye popped out like a champagne cork is Viserys' own son too?! He’s a Prince?! Viserys is gonna execute his wife for wanting justice for his own son?! Huh?? What kinda weak King does nothing while his own seed gets his eye poked out by a couple of bas-terds? He was more worried bout protecting Rhaenyra’s illegitimacy than his son. Ppl really acting like if some kids did that to your 10yr old in the sandbox ya'll just gonna be like "oh word? Kenny's the middle child. So no biggie.” A mother’s rage, while unhinged, is totally understandable. The king shoulda handed out a more reasonable punishment before it even got to eye for an eye. But he was gonna do nothing due to his gross favoritism for his daughter, which justifiably infuriated Alicent. The king is spineless.

Last but not least, GOATTO Hightower with the coldest win or you die reference, “we play an ugly game”...and I’m the meme of Homer Simpson decked out in green onsies, sitting on green cushions, wearing a Hightower snapback, holding a Go Greens flag with a Alicent poster on the wall😂. Meanwhile checking in on Blacks: “What is honor compared to a woman’s uncle”-Maester Aemon 😳

No one talks about Aemond taking the dragon because he did nothing wrong, he was in his right to claim Vhagar and the dragon choses the rider, not the other way around, meaning she can't be stole. She made her decision, since she isn't supposed to go with the kids of her past rider (if that would have been the case then Laena wouldn't have been her rider), but to anyone who claims her and she finds worthy.

Just pointing this out, riders don't really claim dragons. It's the dragons who accept riders. It's not like he forced Vhagar to be his mount. Kinda grimy for it to happen the day of Laenas funeral, but there's no real bureaucracy or standard for who get what dragon once it's available. It's basically a free-for-all everytime a dragonrider dies and a dragons up for grabs.

I like that aemond scene was at night, while everyone else sleeping on the comfort of their bed, he was struggling for his life and glory on a dragon saddle. No one there to cheer him up when he succeed, or to help if it went wrong. Just himself. Now imagine it end like eps 3, when rhaenyra return to the camp and everybody watching her, but now instead with a boar, aemond return to the crowd on vhagar's back.

The brother's synchronization and quick thinking was amazing, and Aegon's response was brilliant, he not only says the obvious, because everyone knows that Rhaenyra kids are bastard, they just don't admit it, but his answer also turns the tables, because he embarrasses Rhaenyra and make everyone turn their eyes in embarrassment for her, you can see in her face. Rhaenyra tried to frame Alicent and have her executed, but the brothers turned the table. It's an incredible scene, because if they hadn't read the room, think fast and given the right answer, they were going to have their mother executed or one of them punished. Aemond was silent and read the room, then he says it was his brother, because Aegon is the only one besides him who would stay on his mother's side, and his brother is an irresponsible who just wants to drink and have sex, it could come off as gibberish said by a drunkard, no one would take it seriously. But still, he should be questioned, and if given the wrong answer, he'd screw up Aemon's play. Aegon and Aemond were amazing in how they acted. And Aemond's answer at the end was the final blow, the people where divided and fighting among themselves, forgetting the reason why all that was happening: The fact that Aemond had conquered the most powerful dragon in the kingdom, and when he brings it to light again, everyone looked scared, Rhaenyra herself is in shock, because everyone there realized the military power that Alicent and her lineage have in their hands, putting everyone in submission.

King Viserys very clearly cared more about protecing his daughter's children's true idenity that he did about his own son's terrible injury. If I am in Alicent's shoes I would've lost it a lot more.

Vhegar is so big because she is one of the original 3 dragons used to conquer Westeros almost 100 years before the start of the HOTD.

Aemond is so fucking cool can't wait to see his character play out.

What I find funny is that most people think Aemond stole the dragon. No, the dragon wasn't Laena's property, it was her partner. Vhagar accepted and chose Aemond as her rider. If Rhaena was quicker to claim her maybe it wouldn't be such a shitshow.

Pay attention to Alicent's daughter Halaena. She is definitely a dreamer. Remember in Episode 6 when Alicent told Aemond he’ll get a dragon one day? Helaena said “He’ll have to close an eye.” Also in this episode Helaena was playing with a spider and repeatedly said “Hand turns loom, spool of green, spool of black, dragons of flesh, weaving dragons of thread.” So she's predicting the Black Vs. Green conflict in her Targaryen family! So Helaena predictions are coming true. 😉

It might seem crazy that Alicent didn't get executed for hurting the heir but I think people's view on the medieval political system is warped because of terrible kings in past GoT content like Jeoffrey, Cersei, etc who would just chop heads off willy nilly. Remember Viserys is a good man but a weak king, most people in that room could understand a mother acting rashly in the defense of her child but killing your queen would still seem out of pocket with most of the court. It would also fracture the 7 kingdoms by alienating a powerful house in the Hightowers and remember Viserys is all about keeping the kingdom together because of Aegon's prophecy.

Okay. Either my TV coincidently had optimal settings for this episode, or they aired a different version of this in Australia because it was NOT this dark for me. I could clearly see every moment and when articles came out "how to actually see the latest dark episode of house of dragons" I had no idea what everyone was complaining about... until I saw this reaction

You cant steal dragons even if they are untamed - the dragon doesnt get passed on, they choose the rider if the rider is fit. Aemond was right, she should've tried her hand with Vaegar first but she didnt. Vaegar recognised Aemonds bravery and chose him. From her point of view though, she's grown up with Vaegar her entire life knowing that she belonged to her mother and hoped she would one day bond with Vaegar. It would hurt to see a piece of your mothers memory bond with another.

You cannot steal a Dragon. They are not something you can own or fully control. They're a mythical creature that will casually eat you or roast you alive if they don't like you. Aemond didn't choose Vaegar, Vaegar chose him. And he was right, if the sisters wanted him, they had their chance. Aemond was the victim here, not them.

Rhaenyra and Daemon did a good job of making people think that they would do something like that as a warning to their enemies so I’ll give them that. Other than that I was on Alicent’s side this episode, I love her lmao. Aemond was an opportunist in this episode but I was cheering for him claiming Vhagar. I also feel bad for Rhaena, Baela, Jace, and Luke. They’re mourning their parents. The last scene of Daemon and Rhaenyra getting married made me feel for them because the girls are mourning their mother and the loss of Vhagar while the boys are mourning two fathers. Hopefully they at least tell the boys about Laenor but then again idk if they told Rhaenys and Corlys either. They said their side will know the truth, I assume they mean the blacks.
