My frozen E30 BMW M3 Track Car gets its first shakedown at Donington Park, after fitting the new Drenth sequential gearbox and a whole lot more work that we've done over the past few months (covered in the last 4 videos in the playlist). It's a certified ripper once again!

Awesome, it's so good to see it do lap after lap without some kind of major gearbox fault lol Once the shift cut is sorted and the alignment is dialled, this will be a monster!

S65 sounds incredible as always. I feel like the m52 doesn’t get enough love in the sound department. It was quite a pleasant soundtrack as well

Man that blueberry m3 ice cream looks lush!!! So happy it's performing now and we get to see this beast in it's full potential under your hands. Loved the footage of Jay striding, having a blast and also with no issues too. Can we get some feedback from both of you on that new e30 suspension please? Really happy for you guys! I've been following this build for ever. It's looking absolutely mega on that last session. The development has made that into a very serious track weapon. I'd love that car! I'm a Nissan guy but I'd definitely love that.

It's faster because it's slightly lighter with a better balance. The shifts are slightly slower with the Drenth and the ratios aren't quite as good as they were with the DCT, but the difference is it actually works.

The new gearbox works well. Very fast and accurate. Works well in cooperation with the engine.

Woo hoo! That’s got some understeer. Looks and sounds amazing. I had the exact same problem with my quaife gearbox and the geartronics flat shift. I had the ‘dead zone’ set too tight and when you pinged the lever for the next gear it would kind of shudder and the sensor would cut the ignition.

Gearshift strategy takes an age to get get right especially if the signals are going on over a bus. Downshifts look brutal, tweaking the overrun fuelling and banging a load of ignition advance in will help the blip response and smooth them out a bit.

Phil thanks for all the work, the car sounds lovely with the straight cut noises. I noticed you wearing some fitted earplugs too. What kinda are they and would you recommend them? I’ve been looking for some to wear on track that fit comfortably under a helmet.

Thanks Michael, funnily enough I forgot them at this event. I was shoving tissue in my ears before each run 😂. The kit I use is Fuze I think, but I can't find them in the UK anymore. I need another kit.

Quieter than the DCT? No, thats from a road car. The Drenth is straight-cut and very noisy (not as bad as I thought it could be). I have a new bigger dash to fit at some point.

Is it the load sensor on the shifter when it springs back to centre? Seeing a load when it stops suddenly causing the second cut?

Yep. There is a setting in the ECU to stop multiple blip / cut requests in a given amount of time, but I was playing with the wrong setting I believe.
