One of the main reasons to set prop at 01:40 is actually to have prop stop against compression when dead stick and save breaking prop ... a benefit of course is the starting - that prop is in good position to hand start the motor.

Good video, thanks. My personal preference is to orient the prop at 11:30 or 12 O'clock. I also always balance the hub of the propeller blade.

Nice video for someone who needed to ask "what's a prop jig" as I purchased my first gasser. Thank you so much.

Good video,but I always drill through the bottom first because that’s where the screw holes line up,then reset to top side and re chase. Clearance hole at wood block is a must!

I tend to drill one hole all the way though then drill the others half way though, and then mount the jig on the other side to finish the holes this way it does not chip off when the drill breaks though..

I'm glad I found your channel. You make less than exciting topics, like drilling propellers, interesting.

Just seen this video and was wondering if you balance the hub as well? That's what I'm always having problems doing and was wondering how important it was. Because I see some that don't do it at all. Thanks again Tom for another great video.

I seldom balance the hub unless getting the blades in balance is difficult. My normal thing is to get the blades perfectly balanced and so far no vibrations or indications of a vibration.

Great video. What do you do if you're running it with a spinner? I'm guessing you drill the spinner backing plate in the same manner?

Yes, the spinner back plate is drilled with the jig as well.

thintz12 ..but it’s determined by the cockpit view..so it’s CW , clockwise. I’m confused

From the pilot perspective it is CW, from in front, where you have to decided which way to flip it, it's CCW

I have a Zenoah 26cc on my 1/4 scale cub. Do you have a video of connecting wires? Tubes, etc. Plus I thought it was electronic ignition but was told it was Magneto?? How do I start and kill the engine after flight?
@flyingrcdotnet

Don't have a clue, never did a magneto engine

I know this is an older comment and i'd assume you have figured it our but I have a GT80 by Zenoah on my 1/3 scale extra 330 and I kill it with a "kill Switch" all it is a mix that shuts the carb to off when i flip the switch. Easy as pie to program on most if not all radios i'd imagine.
