The best tennis drills include and mimic the exact movements you'll need in a match, so they become second nature. Tennis drills are the most effective approach to learn the fundamentals of the game, master the proper techniques, and gain confidence in facing any opponent. These activities help a player become more consistent and mentally and physically powerful. Because each player's style is unique, different tennis drills are required. There you go! We are loving this format. It is fun for you and it helps me stay in shape! Hope you enjoy it

I will never understand people that think mini tennis is a bad thing. I've played nearly every day since I was like 10, took some time of during medical school but try to play at least 5 times a week now. Half the time I get out to the court if I started hitting from the baseline right away my timing and focus is so out of whack I can barely get it over the net. Even a minute of short-court, then slowly backing up during the rally makes a world of difference. When I'm scouting out new people to hit with I can almost instantly tell if they're serious players by whether or not they do something like starting short, or beginning with some practice touch shot mini tennis points. I have also found that it's a pretty good indicator of whether or not a clinic/club practice has someone who knows what they're doing running it. Been loving your videos man. As someone trying to get my game back watching you hit and drill has been great motivation. The video on making clean contact is gold, and the side angle to demonstrate was amazing.

Thanks again for sharing Karue! These are solid drills. Did I notice a little Naomi waggle of the racquet before you served? I have never seen you do that before, but I noticed it today. I see Naomi do this often and it reminds me of a golfer that waggles before they hit a shot. Probably a great way to get that loose/whippy feel before you launch a serve. Similar to the +1 serve drill you showed, a drill I've been doing lately goes as follows. Play normal(ish) games. If your first serve goes in, you have 3 shots to close the point. If your second serve goes in, the returner has 3 shots to close the point. I like it because it's training the server and the returner at the same time, in obvious ways. But even on second serve, it's training the server by forcing the server to expect more of an attack on the return and working back into the point. A variation of that drill is to give yourself those 3 shots as server or returner to get to the net. May take more than 3 shots, but get to the new to close it there.

Great video again. Please could I ask you to describe the sort of physical fitness this sort of set demands? You mentioned in your commentary that “he’s top 100 he can go for hours/ all day like this” and that’s really interesting to me. What does this translate to for people who don’t spend 7 hrs a day in the gym/ on court- what kind of 10K run times is normal/ what kind of sets and reps do players do in the gym? If you’ve done so already please point me in the direction of your video, but I’m new to your channel and would appreciate the perspective. Great work and clearly you’re a top player who knows the game much respect ✊

Karue, this video is even more educational than the last one with Marcos which was already awesome. I’ve already forwarded these to my students because I tell them they need to practice and drill with purpose and intent. So often they just like to just rally and hit balls like you mentioned or try to hit as hard as they can because they think that’s how pros play tennis. Clearing that’s not how pros play or practice so this provides proof that what I’m telling them is exactly how pros practice, too! Love it! Is this the USTA center in Carson?

I think with a little more "self promotion" your channel would get WAY more attention. Most of the tennis youtubers that have built popular channels are actually shit at tennis. I had to watch quite a few of your videos before I actually realized you 1) started on one of the top D1 tennis teams, 2) were ranked in top 500 on the ATP tour and 3) are hitting with some of the top pros on the tour. I would have paid a lot more attention to your content initially if I had realized how good you were. It took me watching a few videos to realize this was something very different than the other channels on youtube and that you are much, much better than most of the folks I see both at youtube and at my private club (which has a lot of former college players that hit).

I would honestly mention your "credentials" at the start of your videos every time -- as crass as it might feel to you, it's going to do wonders for getting people to keep watching past the first 5-10 seconds when they don't know who the hell you are. Instant credibility.

Sir, I’ve been watching all of your hitting videos religiously for the last 5 days, I’ve watched each video 7 times, there is one conclusion for my two cents... your swing looks a lot better with the head speed than the yonex racquets but particularly better that the ezone tour. The vcore 95 looks like the second best swinging racquet. Something about the swing looks smoother and the racquet seems to keep its momentum through the swing, there’s a bit of a thrust with the ezone. I’m not a coach, I’m not even worthy of being called a potato or any garden vegetable by Nick Kyrgios

Hahaha thanks, I actually think that as well. The 95 is very good! The speed is great it is just that it is a custom version of it that I can’t get more so I need to find something new

@@MyTennisHQ so it was a ProStock PT57 or something? I don’t know head ProStock. Can you do a bit of a video (if you’re allowed) talking a bit about the secret black market of tennis racquets, the Illuminati of pro stock frames and how they compare to retail frames. I’m currently using a Blade 18x20 but have gone away from the retail models as they lack stability on heavy shots, I regularly have that weird feeling like “did I just break a string” due to the racquet flexing and thinking that loss of stiffness was a string going. On returns the frames twist, it’s very noticeable especially against big servers so I’m looking for something “better”. We all know what pro stocks are, plenty of videos about them, they’re not a swear word, just would be interested in your view

I like how he says “ you amateurs”

I think you've forgotten what amateurs are like when they are only just hitting balls to each other. We can't hit down the middle so you're going to be running from side to side whether your practice partner intended to make you do it or not! The most awkward bit of tennis is when you're warming up in doubles and meant to only hit to the person in front of you in that narrow channel defined by the service boxes. XD When I'm playing, I hit down the centre or cross court and any extreme balls make me look like a genius but the reality is I wasn't really planning for the ball to land right in the corner. :o)

As a lefty i find that many drills don t work very well against righties, we can t keep many rallies, not against lefties, any ideas for drills for lefties?, or a video perhaps?

For a 3.5, the short court is super hard. I saw high school players where my daughter took lessons doing it, tried to copy, couldn’t do it, so hard. You need to have a good feel and need somebody higher level maybe at least a 5.0 as a partner.

Short court is hard! But it is actually important to develop good feel

Karou, I’m self-taught, so I don’t know a lot about tennis but the “feel” is developed in years. My daughter was a red ball before Covid, and they use small nets, never seen them use the net. Overtime they would develop the feel. It’s like you can take a 15-year old to drive 90mph easy, but it would be a struggle to park.
