Matthew Marsden is underrated. He's always memorable, even in the smallest supporting roles. I think he had only one brief line in Transformers 2, yet I remember he was in that movie. He was great Anaconda 2 & Rambo 4. To know he's so down to earth makes me an even bigger fan now.

Normally takes me a few sittings to watch a long video but fuck me I didn't want this one to end. The Drinker was great as always but damn Matt brings new meanings to the words humble and down to earth. Fascinating discussion. Matt is more knowledgeable and explains Hollywoods inner workings better than anyone I have ever seen on KZfaq. The fact he also discusses it from a fan perspective is really something fresh. I would pay good money to see him and Mauler do an EFAP on Black Hawk Down. I used to be a cinema projectionist (before digital ruined everything) anyway, I remember when "Black Hawk Down" came in, and we were running 3 or 4 shows per day, unfortunately, there was an issue with the print we had, were it would constantly jam in the projector, get unravelled, slide off the platter and end up on the floor, so I had to sit by the projector for every show to ensure it wouldn't break down.. this movie was the bane of my existence at the time that I flat out refused to watch the movie itself, but my stubborness can only last so long lol... so i'll give it a watch

I hate left wing politics. But I equally cant stand it when people say "If you work hard enough you can achieve anything you like".. I like the mentality, butt get real.. To start a business you usually need capital.. And also we live in a hyper capitalistic consumering society, and so we need the majority of people to work in shops and sales.

I prefer Confucious's idea. That to improve one's lot in life requires effort, hard work, education (not just academic but practical too) and learning from one's mistakes and self improvement. As well as a willingness to do even the most menial of jobs well. It doesn't mean that you will succeed or become rich but it's the effort that matters.

You basically described my mentality and outlook on life lol that message of work hard and you can achieve everything sounds nice on paper but it's the same logic of if you're homeless buy a house its extremely black and white it's not taking into account people's mental health, finances, their families, where they come from, their surroundings, their hardships etc my bf works his arse off every day and we barely have enough money to get through the week whereas I know ppl in my family who are high functioning alcoholic narcissists who've got more money than they know what to do with lol life is what you make of it

@@genmaicha.lapsang I take a similar approach,, In that I try to put 100 percent into every thing I do.. But i also remember that we work to live, and not live to work.. you can be the lowest worker at McDonalds but still be happier and more fun to be around than the highest paid worker at a massive corporation.. @@markmorris7123 It gripes me too, friend. Victim mentality is kind of like alcohol. It smooths over one's pain but harms the person in the process. Also like you, I really don't like the suggestion that working one's ass off will solve issues in one's life or lead to success. It does help, of course. I think most people would agree on that but it it's not enough on its own. There's also knowing how to quit and give up when something is obviously not working. There's also restraint. To say no to going for something when the cost is too high (not always literal money but a lot of times it is).
