It's quite simple. Family entertainment(??!!)..written by perverts staring perverts, perverted storyline and perverted characters liked by perverts. Oh BBC and Netflix what have you become. JS's life philosophy is not supposed to be a guide.

Its definetly a photo made for magazine promotion, but what James Gunn has made clear on what comic runs are inspiring this movie, particularly All Star Superman make me feel like this Superman movie will head in the correct direction, especially when we see it in action through Trailers.

I actually think that Planet of the Apes is maybe most underapreciated current franchise. Those movies has good ratings in general, but not that much of a recognition for its actual worth. And Kingdom is a great new addition. I wish more franchises would get that much of a care in its making, concetrating on telling actual good story, modernizing and honoring original film(s) at the same time and not pissing on them. This could be another interesting trilogy, if it gets greenlighted.

I think it's telling of the Universal UNAPEAL of JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzman's CRAP Nu-Trek when you discover that JJ tried to monopolize Star Trek's merchandising by demanding that no classic Star Trek merch would be sold in any market, only pushing his GARBAGE instead. I am forever thankful that he was essentially told to go F**k himself with that greedy demand.

It's because nobody wants to see a bad comedy movie disguised as an action movie that doesn't know what it wants to be. People just want actual action movies, masculine movies, high testosterone movies. Things like that. The Fall Guy clearly was trying to be a comedy movie and although I like comedy, I don't necessarily need a ton of comedy in my action movie maybe a little bit to lighten up the mood, but I think we all like the raid and John Wick for reasons, and the Fall Guy clearly was trying to be something that appealed to a weird demographic of people that wanted more comedy than action and I almost don't know anybody who's into those type of movies.

There are clear outlines for a larger conspiracy here. Hollywood and other media moguls plan to destroy the entire cultural legacy of the western world. Why? So that they can enslave the population from within, by raising generations of weak, impotent and voiceless humanoids which are easy to manipulate. The bureaucrats know that there will be backlash, and negative press, and people will laugh and a lot of money will be lost - etc, etc, etc. But, they have taken that into consideration, as the price of the whole "enterprise". It is the only explanation as to why would corporations who only live for money - would agree to lose and keep losing so much revenue and keep investing into projects that are bound to fail even before they are completed. Because money is no longer the goal. It is not a business. It is social subversion on a global scale.

Saw this opening night in the theater. After the waste of time that was 5 I was very hesitant to go. Thankfully it turned out good. Getting Nicolas Myer back to direct,after he helped write 4,was a great move. The Drinker and Mauler really need to see his first film,Time after Time to fill out your movie knowledge. The extended cut of the film is the way to go with this movie. Seeing extra scenes with Sarek is always nice. Cool tidbits you guys may not know is that there were many cut scenes that almost made it in the film. Two such scenes wasxone where Scotty was going to be giving a lecture on the Klingon Bird of Prey that had taken out of the water after 4 and a scene where Gillan,from 4,was watching the trial of Kirk and wondering if she could help. James Doohan talked about these scenes in Starlog and Cinefantisc. After watching both many times I still prefer The Motion Picture and Star Trek 4 to 6. 6 is good of course but something about The Motion Picture really feels different and unique. It probably has the best sense of exploration and the fact that there isn't really a stereotypical villain, something they copied from Star Trek 2 in almost every film after,is interesting. Plus little bits of 6s humour land flat for me. Spock joking about being dead once being one example. The soundtrack is great though as with all the original 6 films. Each film has a different musical style that suits the films well. Something that all the new films fail to do. Still 6 is really good and the 4K Blu Ray is fantastic.

An interesting way for Savek to have been in this movie and the previous movie is have her part of the crew. Her great pain could have been that she feels responsible for David's death and that she let Kirk down. She could then have been drawn into the plot for war by a true hatred for the Klingons.

Drinker, when I saw this movie back it came out in the winter of 1991, the big rumor at the time was that Kirk was going to die in this film. I don't know how the rumor spread but little hints came in the form the trailers that showed Kirk getting vaporized from a phaser shot, of course it was Marta the Shapeshifter, but the trailer gave no context, plus it was an alternate take that was used instead of what actually made the final cut of the film which wasn't as impressive as the trailer. 🤨🤔 Another teaser of a Kirk's potential death was that a few a couple months prior to the film's release, TNG aired the "Unification" 2-parter with Picard and Data traveling to Romulus to...Search for Spock. 🤣 In part two, Spock gave Picard an ambiguously ominous hint to Kirk's fate in The Undiscovered Country, which lead to further speculation of his potential death.

Again, I urge MauLer to make up his own opinions on the rest of Star Trek, including the other movies. Drinker is by no means the only or final word on what Star Trek is good or bad. If MauLer went and did more Star Trek on his own channel, perhaps with other Star Trek fans he knows, I'm sure those videos would be very popular. He's already doing streams with lots of other Trekkies already, they're just talking about other stuff most of the time.

Mauler, something you need to understand about Gene Roddenberry and his feelings on this film, you need to remember that he's a butthurt creator who lost control of his creation three times. 1. Once when he lost control of the original series prior to its final season when he was replaced with a different producer. (Something about him not getting his way?) 2. He lost control of the film franchise after the production mess of The Motion Picture and kept giving shite after utter shite premises for potential sequels, which ultimately led to him being kicked out and replaced by Harve Bennett. 3. Finally with The Next Generation at the end of the second seasons he once again lost his control of the Franchise and was replaced by Rick Berman who for better or worse led Star Trek onto its 90s golden age. Just like how he tried to sabotaged Star Trek II by spoiling Spock's Death (but Nick Myer outsmarted him by pulling a fake-out at the start before the actual payoff at the movie's conclusion,) Roddenberry is butthurt that someone made Star Trek BETTER than he ever could and just has to put down anything he had no part of. To paraphrase SFDebris: Gene created a great world, he just wasn't a good writer.

Rick Berman did a tremendous job, he saw himself as a disciple of Gene's and his main focus was maintaining his vision. This is the basic problem with Kurtzman Trek, it doesn't, it tries to go in his direction. No respect, or at best, no understanding.

@TONYGILLEY Сағат бұрын
@aldunlop4622 Oh no, I agree with you on Berman. As I said, he ushered in Trek's Golden-Age in the 90s. Something I don't think would have happened if Gene was still in power.

In the series they had hole in the wall food dispensers, but they did mention the galley a few times. Regarding the cloaking device, the writers talk about it being a technical arms race between sensors and stealth. From the first episode with it when they could detect it with motion tracking, and then future Klingon & Romulan ships would be undetectable. I also noticed your version was missing some scenes from the Director's edition, before the trial, before the daughter's call with the President. Instead of watching any of the TNG films, just watch All Good Things.
@kingleech16
@kingleech16 5 сағат бұрын
If I remember correctly, the idea of the cloak being rendered useless after this movie has been addressed by writers from Trek. The explanation is that no, cloaking isn’t useless because this is merely another step in a tech/arms race, like the Battle of the Atlantic or the Bomber Command campaign over Germany. That is to say, a breakthrough only provides brief superiority. Radar spots bombers, then it gets countered by a system like Window, which then gets countered by an upgrade or new system in a continuing escalation of technology. So while cloaking would be badly hampered for a time, eventually either the Klingons or Romulans would develop something like a diffuser array that would fool any seeker torpedo or sensor array. Naturally, folks would start working on a counter to THAT then, and the cycle continues.
