So we probably agree that the boys (and Sir George Martin) were master arrangers of both vocals and instrumentation. Is still amazes me how so much skill and talent sprung from those individuals... all from that time and place (Liverpool, so excluding Mr. Martin).

As a cheap Sizzle! Sometimes it changes. Like the ciggies on the snare drum. I used rivets on my cymbals. But a cheap mini-ball pull chain works like a sizzler too.

Amazing cover. But I think the solo part was played entirely using a slide. Listening again to George's solo, the bending sound was so smooth and clean without a hiccup. You know what I mean. Keep it up. Love to see your works. Been following all videos and I love how you interpret the originals.

my father gave me revolver for that christmas,,,i never forget - he took his own life on september 11 66' .the last present my father gave to me for christmas,,,,still got it,,,,love singing along to "baby you can drive my car" reminds me of pops,,,

Drexler Mcartney - You are right! I should have included it. Its heard between the vocal lines, starts on beat 4, and is swelled. xx555x and xx777x, both quarter notes. (Could be played with the slide)There's also a tape edit before the guitar solo starts. The hidden guitar part is probably an earlier take that was left in possibly due to tape bleed. Or they liked it and left it in

Got it wrong, mateys. You put Rubber Soul on in the living Room, go sit on the toilet for the whole album. the songs where the bass DOESN'T shake the walls are the Höfner (includes this song); the ones where the bass is heard AND FELT are the Rickenbacker. DMC was the Höfner.

It's the Rick. Most of Rubber Soul is the Rickenbacker 4001. This is the album where they wanted more bass and the Rick was given to Paul for a "fuller sound"

It's in books, on wikipedia and a website I use to cross check. It isn't always right, but it's a good starting place. www.beatlesbible.com/forum/recording-and-musicology/the-guitars-the-beatles-used-per-song/ Neil is the one playing bass in this video. He has a pretty good idea of what they used per song and I'll trust him over the website or wikipedia. The Rubber Soul Wikipedia just mentions its when Paul was given the Rick

It's hard to tell around this Period, but after listening intently and comparing I think *almost* if not all of Rubber Soul is the Rick. We've tried both Hofner and Rick and on these tracks and Rick wins accuracy wise with the tone every time.

Y'all got 95% of the way to perfect on this one... The intro isnt a clean 4/4; I don't have the technical jargon to explain, but y'all need to study the intro a bit more to be 100 percent on this one. Beyond that lil point of concern... Absolutely stupendously amazing cover!

That's correct it's not in 4, the riff starts on "4 and" You can hear paul count it off in the isolated tracks. But we did play this overtop the recording to make it, so what we did here does line up to the recording.

There's some debate about wether or not this was Paul or George. I've had people tell me George was the "only one" to ever play slide. So who knows. Either way - I'm the one playing the left handed bass on this. Andrew Bockelman did all the guitar work, I think he did a good job. The left handed thing is an aesthetics only thing - Andrew can play slide guitar much better than I can, we don't have a left handed Casino either.

If you listen to this interview kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7WRpLqGuNS8pmg.html from 1988, they ask George about his slide guitar playing. He states he actually never did any slide playing in the Beatles and specifically states the only slide solo was done by Paul on "Drive My Car." So, confirmed by George himself. It was Paul.

so basically, if you wanted to count the intro as simple as possible...you use one bar of 5/4 and one bar of 4/4.

Just Felix - I count it as the first note is on the + of 4 and the second note is on the 1

@@AblyHouse that's probably the correct way to count. It helps alot with the bass not being in the + of 3. With the 5/4 measure, it just helps the guitar and drums with less syncopation.
