This one has a lot of potential. If you didn't mind sleeping in the top bed, you could make the rear bed area into an office with a desk. You'd still have plenty of room to slide in your bikes or kayaks when traveling.

I like this one Nerd! Although I’m a 5th wheel guy myself, I really appreciate this rig. They packed a lot into a small package. The changes I would make is make the bed squared off instead of the triangle notch, put a shelf in the overhead cabinet over the sink, put a cabinet door over the control panel (to hide the lighted switches at night) and raise the cabinet over the toilet 6 inches (even if it means making the cabinet smaller). If it was my rig I’d rather have 2 recliners vs the dinette. I love the rear storage! I also like the less is more approach here and I think it’s very reasonably priced. Thanks for another great review Nerd. Looking forward to the next one!!

I like the utility this offers. Sure it's not the fanciest but it can go anywhere. Anybody could hop in and drive without any issues. In bathroom maybe having a small corner sink in the shower would help the space around the toilet.

wow, that shower height in a short class c is unheard of from what i've seen. so many manufacturors like to put a step up in the rear to allow for more underside storage which sucks for tall people. So glad to see one I could use easily. Thanks

I really believe there is a gap in the market for motorhomes in this size not having 4X4 available. Even the smaller van RV's have AWD available. Mobile fishing lodge, hunting camp, towing snowmobiles, ATV's, etc. 4X4 would be a great feature!!!!!

There are 4x4 class C and super C motorhomes and RV’s out on the market today, as in right now. Both new and used. And they are on built Ford, GM, Freightliner, and Ram chassis. I just did a google lookup and got pages and pages of them for sale. Both new and used. So if your looking for one, it’s out there, but they do cost more and have higher prices.

OK Josh.... I like this one. I would like the counter to all be the same height, and maybe a slightly smaller kitchen sink to give you some room for a coffee pot. She's small and nemble, but I'm glad there is no step up in the back (granny won't break her hip on this one). Wish there was a couch/theater seat swaption for the J dinnet. The ability to have storage, even when the bed is down, or massive storage when the bed is up is nice. That back door, man at the pass through breeze, that thing is huge and right at the bed. The bathroom works nicely, but the throne does look a bit tight, maybe a slightly smaller medicine cabinet. I like the outside entertainment being behind a door, no silly speakers at the roof line. She really checks a lot of boxes, not perfect, but really nicely built and thought out little class C... Thanks for showing me this one Josh...

RV’s should move to more open cubbies instead of drawers. Cubbies with a lip to hold removable covered totes for easier loading in or taking kitchen implements to an outside cooking session. The bigger openings without drawers and hardware would make easier inspection viewing and repairing accessibility to plumbing/wiring without disassembly.
@sharonoddlyenough

the only thing i think could of been done better is the exhaust on the gen. it routes forward where it could get hooked on something ripping it off. where as if it ran to the back it would most likely deflect off. its a minor thing unless it gets ripped off causing damage. on road less likely to happen. if one was to go off road on a trail or fire road/rough road its something to keep in mind. nice RV. ohh a powered fan up front would be nice too. good vid

Josh: This Cross Trail 22XG has a lot going for it. It sure hits all the right notes of a truck stop/road stop no slideout head, bed and mess coach. But for wife and I, the “in the corner” Murphy bed, even at queen size 60”x80” is a big negative. On the other hand, the rear access door is an interesting feature. Would be nice if it had some type of screen. Can’t say what we’d use the interior hard points for but for someone with “toys” or cargo needing storage, can see where they’d be useful. At 68 pounds LP capacity, I’ assuming the generator is powered off the LP and not gasoline. Coachmen should install all bigger fans by default. Wife and I think the Cross Trails 30XG might be a better fit for a more sedate couple’s rig. Or we could hold out for Coachmen to resume production on the Leprechaun 270QB on the Ford 350 or Chevy 3500 or the Freelander 27QB on the Ford 350 or the Chevy 3500. Respectfully, W.S.

Although I appreciate the residential queen bed, to he corner bed is in a no go for me. I do like to the cargo function just need to be able to to be get around the bed. So its greatest asset is its worst nightmare, for me at least. Also would need to find a way to swap out the dinette for a sofa or theater seats. Basically it's probably isn't the right floor plan for me but I appreciate the size of maneuverability of this coach.

I think you're 100% right actually You may commonly hear me say "everything's greatest asset is also its greatest liability" A giant fifth wheel with tons of space and storage may be amazing, but that also forces it to be big, heavy, expensive, etc

Question. What are the Ford Econoline and GM ‘G’ van chassis bringing to the market that is keeping the demand strong for these platforms vs them being totally replaced by the Ram Promaster, Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit Class ‘C’ motorhomes? And why do we not see as many of these class C motorhomes built on the heavy duty pickup truck platforms like the F-350/450 Ram 3500/4500 and the Chevy Silverado series heavy duty trucks?

This is a very decent coach... We own a 21QB coachmen... Here are my thoughts...azdel siding is a huge must, love that siding. Love the swivel seats that we don't have...if needing more storage use totes under the bed and still be able to pull bikes in while traveling. We have a U dinette but I think this J dinette is better for ease of entry... Especially for just 2 people...like the heavy load overhead bunk for carrying additional supplies....outside tv...GREAT...solar....GREAT... Absolutely needs a maxairr fan up front....coachmen absolutely should have included a ladder... There is room to right of rear door...or at least included blocking in walls to accommodate one.. They cheaped out on the ladder!... And I couldn't see if they had tv accommodations at rear bed - a must in my book!...overall it looks like a very decent coach aside from the things I would like to see....

This comment is for Ember units. Can’t imagine you review old stuff. This looks like a recent input. When will Ember finish prototypes for quad wheel units? When/ where can I go see one? Arctic Fox wide body units are 8.5 ft wide - the same width as the rubber roofing they install. They stretch the membrane to BARELY fit. Over time it splits at the edge and leaks. I have seen repair videos on this - one on a 2121! Can you check with them to see if this is standard practice or is it something certain installers have done on their own? I drove my last pickup 24 years, expensive things should last better than that 2121 roof did. I know you’re supposed to let sales talk only with me, my recent interaction (when they let the two of us speak) was not successful. Not complaining, just trying to get to a finish line.

Apologies the MFG doesn't provide any resources with that spec and I'm three time zones away from where this was recorded. The stores at the locations listed here: www.bishs.com/rv-search?s=true&types=16&manufacturer=coachmen+rv&brand=cross+trail+xl will be best equipped to get that answer for you -- even if they need to hop out and hand measure I can say that it was wide enough to load a bike's handlebars in perpendicularly rather than turning anything though

Nord lost a lot of credibility when they have a big data breech and didn't even talk about it until months later. As for the vehicle, it's kind of a shame the toilet's such a tight fit. I was actually going to recommend this to a friend who does conventions, but that would be a dealbreaker for them. Oh well, I'm still gonna be looking. Shame *I* can't afford it, though, cause I do like it.
