i took it the first time today ad passed. advice for anyone whos gonna take it; you really have to exagerrate everything. always put blinker at any turn and when you come to a stop count to 3 seconds before you go. just exagerate evrything because most of the examiners are rarely nice lol they want everything perfect

Passed in the first try today. It is indeed the most difficult driving test in the US but as with everything it's not hard as it seems. Here are a few common mistakes you would want to avoid, where most people lose points in the test: - always put on turn indicators and do 1-2-3 checks when parking, turning or lane changing. - always do an extra stop (DO NOT creep up without coming to a complete stop) when turning right into oncoming traffic from an intersection with poor visibility of the road you're turning into. - always turn into the nearest lane from an intersection. - Call out every decision you're making to your instructor. Often times the instructor may not see what you're seeing and hence not understand the reasoning behind what you're doing so may mark you down. - Be very slow and steady in the backing maneuvers and take your own sweet time. You won't be marked down for it. If you hit the curb, don't worry too much coz it's just 2 points off and that's barely anything in the grand scheme of things. - last but not the least, check your speed. 6 miles off the limit and the test is immediately over with a fail, and with WA's downhill slopes, it is very common for the speed to elevate real quick. Best of luck 🤘

I failed my first test, mainly because I told my instructor "How are you? You must have a great job on a day like this!" and she turned to me and told me "I DO THIS 20 TIMES A DAY" It went downhill from there. Of course, it could also be because I ended up parked on a train track...

Just passed my test, please guys don’t even trip about it. I messed up both backing around the curb and parallel parking (hit the curb few times on both) and I still passed. Just watch your speed and turn your blinkers whenever instructor tells you to pull to the side.

I took drivers Ed with 15 1/2 year olds when I was 19 years old, because I had no other way to learn how to drive. On my first practice drive with an instructor, it was my first time being on the road. I got out of the car with motion sickness and I was so nervous. He told me to get more practice and I couldn’t so I bought a car for $2000 which I learned how to drive by myself with my permit, but the car broke down after driving it less than 10 times. I am 20 now and taking my drivers test today. Wish me luck!!

Just finished my test today 😌 Passed! Just a tip, ALWAYS look both ways before entering an intersection. Even on left turn arrows. I got knocked 6 whole points for that

Hehe... back in 1997 when I was passing my test I had this very rude woman testing me. I don't remember her doing anything similar like this gentleman in this video (pre-testing my vehicle). She came to my front passenger door, opened it and plumped herself in. Next, she asked me to pull out of the parking when safe. I felt violated that she just opened my car's door and sat herself, just like that, inside my property without any consideration or greeting. She appeared very angry before she even met with me. So I looked at her, smiled, and calmly said to her: "Hi there, how are you?" She answered very swiftly: "I'm fine, I'm fine, let's go." Well, I still passed the test, despite her grumpiness. Some memories here...

Good luck man. You can do it. Just remember what u have practiced and relax and trust your own driving ability. Thats what i did and i passed last friday. You are capable of passing just think clearly and listen to instructions carefully. if you dont understand get them to clarify. Do this and you will be fine, but mainly relax cos when people are nervous they are more prone to error.

I passed my test yesterday in Washington state and I have to say the examiners and staff were very friendly and put me at ease.....the test wasn't very long at all ...I did however have a problem with one of the staff inside the DOL I found her to be rude and unhelpful, and when I returned I was dealt with by another member of staff who was very friendly and couldn't do enough to help, very sad that one person could potentially of ruined my day!!!!!!

I got a driving exam tomorrow. As a former driving instructor tomorrow should be interesting to see how they grade.

It's been over 40 years since I took my driving test, but for the record my examiner was quite old and equally polite.

@Nightbeast165 scored an 86. Important things to know. If you have little mirrors on your mirrors so you can see your blind spots they don't count them ( They wont you to actually turn your head which can be dangerous) And when your backing up DON'T FORGET TO LOOK BACK. and lastly...With the backing take your time and do it right.

I live in Louisiana and I went to take my test today and I thought I did pretty good. When I thought I was about to get my license, my instructor said do you know how fast you were going? I was thinking damn, I messed up. lol. She told me I did everything else correctly, but at one point when I was driving she said I went too fast. She told me 5 over the speed limit is an automatic failure. So I have to try it again next week and remember to drive slower. I hope we take the same route again.

My test is in 2 days, I've been having mini panic attacks all week, but keep trying to calm myself down and tell myself how cool and collected I'll be when I take the exam (hell yeah! I know how to drive! I can stop at red lights and go at green!!! I KNOW HOW TO TURN!!! Awesome!). But watching this video just reinforced how freaked out I get, and what an anxiety wreck I'm going to be. Sigh. The brightside is if I keep failing, I guess that's technically the best experience for the course, right?

Hi, @nicolenugent511. If you haven't already, you could watch all four of our videos. Also, make sure your car's in good working order, including the wiper blades (in case it rains). If you've studied and practiced a lot, you're likely very well-prepared. :)

I passed the test today at Renton..Its easy if we dont get panic..they tested how carefully I was driving..turn your head and watch when they ask for to change lanes or to take turns..watching in mirrors is not enough..backing was b it tough as usual for me, but managed with distance from curb.. parallel parking was also easy..didn't expect to do it correctly..but we dont hit the pole..

Hi, @ChOllayyyxR. Good questions. In this video, the driver hands the Driving Examiner her permit for ID. Other accepted ID can be found here: dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/idproof.html. The Driving Examiner will always ask for the appointment slip. The know who's scheduled for the test, and need to make sure that it is the same person they are testing. Yes, the e-brake is the same as the parking brake.

@92Lizze Great question! When the weather requires windshield wipers, drivers are asked to turn them on. Defroster isn't mentioned in the manual, but drivers must be able to see out windows. If the driver doesn't have defrost, he/she could wipe the windshield and windows clean. You might ask, "What if the driver starts the test & it starts to rain or the windows fog up…the wipers don't work and/or the defrost doesn't work?" In such cases, it would be considered a "dangerous action."

Hi, @tunagirl12. Thank you for your question. If the car stalled during the test, you would lose 1 pt for mechanical operation. If the car stalled only one time, you wouldn't fail the test. If the car stalled multiple times, you would fail.
