Nice to see a tram Video 👍 At my time in Melbourne the CBD ended at Spencer Street - OK that is now about 40 years ago - oh man i think i am becoming a older man 😉

I actually thought you were a tram driver, too ! Both you, and the other gentleman filming Melbourne tram routes do such a great job.....it really help us ex-melbournians visit our home, during current times. Thankyou

Well, I was a Melbourne driver 1988-94. I may have stayed longer but got sick of what Kennett was doing to public transport. Maybe you will like this video: Becoming a Tram Driver Melbourne 1988, Berlin 1992. Part 1 Melbourne kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eZ-Fgt2Xu5jVm6c.html

@@tressteleg1 thanks. I shall watch it. I actually dated a tram driver on and off between 1974 and 1983. He drove from the old Brunswick tram depot. Late one Sunday evening he and I went for a ride on the 96, and at the top of Spring St, I got to drive the tram down Burke St as far as Swanston St ! ...Ah... Those were the days 🤫
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
I started at Brunswick in 1987, so maybe your ex was still there then. Yarra has no sense of humour, so a driver letting you or me drive now almost certainly would be sacked. The Gold Coast tram gives me my ‘fix’ of tram riding, as it will tomorrow.

Nice video with clear night views but oh so bumpy over the joints! I hope it’s more comfortable than it looks…

The bumpy intersections do bump the camera somewhat, but nevertheless you can certainly feel them for a few seconds.

I already have plenty of similar tram videos here. Melbourne Trams - Driver's Views, Rides & Sounds kzfaq.info/sun/PLLtOIHp49XNAm1qAXx3Oc73LehZsggS3t I won’t get into the politics but here in Qld most people do as asked, and since mid 2020 we have had no more than about 2 weeks of lockdowns.

I don’t think English was his first language, and that could have blunted his choice of words. Anyway I was happy with the replacement tram.

Spring Street . Is that the street where the TV series HOMICIDE had its Headquarters ? No I think it was Russell St . Rude driver .
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
No, 2 blocks further down at Russell St. The tall brick building was vacated in 1995 and has since been demolished.
@johnd88922 жыл бұрын
Police HQ was on Russell St but much further north than Collins St. Up north of La Trobe st. Thought it was turned to flats. Looking at Google Earth street view it was still an active accommodation building on June 2019. 338 340 Russell St just north of the Hoddle grid CBD boundary.

Thanks .

Yes, it is still there. I must have misunderstood from Wikipedia what was demolished and what remains. Certainly if you go to Google Earth you will see it on the corner of Latrobe and Russell Sts.

A couple of years ago doing the 48 outbound some ‘officials’ got on and told me to stop. So I got off, walked back a stop, let the next 48 go and continued on the one after that. It just wasted a bit of time. Occasionally other drivers have asked me to stop, so I do the same.
@scottyerkes18672 жыл бұрын
@@tressteleg1okay. Glad no one was hurt. I am sure there are many drivers who would allow you to film especially when it doesn't interfere with the operation of the tram

@@tressteleg1 There is a tram driver who has his own channel on youtube that films daily all his routes. I have watched them all for years. If you can't film why can he? Seems to me if not of passengers or in hinderance to trams movement why do they care? You mean tourists such as myself could not film where I am going or what I see? How sad. Not a very good idea for tourists.

What a dirt bag of a driver. I hope he gets permabanned on your channel, and may all his next runs be with a supervisor. Yeah I can be nasty. Also I always thought it was the driver taking the vids haha.
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
In fact he was probably just following the rules. Yarra is not the nicest company to work for, and especially if he was new to the job, he may have been scared of getting sacked if management somehow saw that he had not stopped me recording. Or maybe power just went to his head. No. I do my recordings from the passenger saloon, and if I’m not obstructing other passengers, I don’t see why Yarra cares.
