I mostly stepped away from boardgaming over the last couple years beyond some big releases such as KDM, and ATO sins, but I make sure to come back to watch great top 10s such as yours.

That is a great game, tactical but not to heavy. I hunted the game down and then after playing i just had to get Extinction Protocol.

Happy that the spaces between full RPG and vaguely reminiscent to RPG games are starting to fill out more. I like also that a lot of fantasy games are willing to do more worldbuilding and not just try to check all the boxes. It feels more fun when creators take a risk and be more evocative of a specific setting, even if some might consider that stuff throwaway in a board game it sort of fires the imagination. A lot of interesting choices. Thanks!

It's been such a pleasure to watch you expand and branch out in your gaming interests (I remember the old Joel, that Eurogame only curmudgeon ;)) over these many many years. COIN, Eurogame, dungeon crawls, narrative sandbox open world, etc. Tons of great variety on this list. Have a great Christmas, Joel and love the hat.

Just found your channel, and I must say, this list is wonderful! I've been introduced to some new games, and as a huge basketball fan myself, I will definitely be looking into basketball highlights! Earthborne Rangers sounds right up my alley as well!

Thanks for doing this list. Something I've always appreciated about you is how diverse your tastes are, and so this list is entertaining because it won't ever be synonymous with the likes of a top 5 euro, war, or deck building list.

Lovely video Joel, and an interesting list. I've only played a single item from your list, Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game and liked it a lot. My personal 2023 favorite is probably Bier Pioniere at this time, Bruxelles 1893: Belle Epoque is also great, as is of course 51st State: Ultimate Edition.

I knew I had been enjoying your content for a long, long time, but didn't realize I was coming up on 10 consecutive years as a subscriber this coming January! Your channel is the oldest one on my activity list that I'm still subscribed to and one of the very first that helped bring me into this wonderful hobby. Thanks for all the great advice, recommendations, and overviews you've produced over those years. You've still got the touch, as you've peaked my interest with a few of the games here, especially Earthborne Rangers!

Love this list. Some great ideas for my next games. I play a lot of 2-player games so The British Way looks like the introduction to COIN that I am looking for without being too daunting. Earthborne Rangers looks class, especially the adventure/exploration elements. Merry Christmas

Great list! I've passed on Star Wars: Deckbuilder a couple of times because we have Shards of Infinity and love it and didn't feel like I needed another deckbuilding game. You have me interested in it now though.

Very recently have gotten super into board games! Picked up Civ New Dawn, as well as a few others. Your channel has been great for finding these games!!!
