Driving Around Springfield, Missouri in 4k Video

Filmed on Tuesday, December 5 2023, I drive around downtown Springfield, Missouri to see what's going on.
The origin of the city's name is unclear, but the most common view is that it was named for Springfield, Massachusetts, by migrants from that area. One account holds that James Wilson, who lived in the then unnamed city, offered free whiskey to anyone who would vote for the name Springfield, after his hometown in Massachusetts.
The first European-American settlers to the area were John Polk Campbell and his brother, who moved to the area in 1829 from Tennessee. Campbell chose the area because of the presence of a natural well that flowed into a small stream. He staked his claim by carving his initials in a tree.
Springfield's nicknames include "Queen City of the Ozarks" and "The Birthplace of Route 66".

Great Video! Veterans who renovate, be advised. If you have rehabbed in any big city, you are going to like Springfield. It's as rough here as St Louis, Cincinnati, and Minneapolis. Materials are giving me sticker shock, but: 25k buys a shell 30k buys a shell with the utilities on. 50k buys a ready-to-live-in. Ya oughta see our appreciation rates. Just BTW, we have a 200% overstock on retail and light commercial space. Mostly because of greedy landlords. Also BTW, our school system sucks. This is not a good place to raise kids.

The Mud House Coffee ☕ is fantastic down on the square. Those girls that live in Sky Eleven are freaks 🎉🎉🎉🎉💯🔥💖❤️‍🔥💥💫💥💫💥 Springfield MO is fun for me it is a native St Louis Missouri guy Springfield has fun things to do. The Black Burgers 🍔 is awesome 😎

My brother works in the downtown area i know why he loves it. We’ve been to Kansas City and I said the downtown area kind of looked like downtown Kansas city

Crazy to see the square in the first two minutes. When I was in high school in the early 1980s the square and the surrounding area for 8 or 10 blocks in all directions was a run-down wasteland of empty buildings and no one ever went there unless they had to go to the DMV office.

It was thriving up to the late 70's when the Battlefield mall went in pulling most of the businesses to the south side.up till the mid 80's i still loved to wonder around downtown for the historic vide.

In the 60s and 70s the square was such a neat, fun place. Then they ruined it but glad to see it being revitalized a bit.
