Driving Citroen Ami Electric on Steep Hills in Historic Culross - 8mph reverse limit tested.

A 22 mile trip in my Citroen Ami Electric Quadricycle taking in some of the steepest streets in Culross and Dunfermline.
This time I had a passenger in the car which made a significant difference to the range. My range was about 9% worse than normal. Overall the actual range was about 29% less than the indicated battery range.
I tested the maximum speed in reverse and can confirm that it is limited to 8 mph. We stopped off at Stephen's the Bakers drive-through and got some of their famous steak pie bridies.
On the steepest streets the speed of the Ami dropped to abut 10 mph but on the level the 28 mph rev limiter could be reached.
In Culross we travelled past the Palace, the Study, the Abbey and The House with the Evil Eyes. Culross is used as a film set for the Amazon series "Outlander".

If you look at the reflection in the rear window you will see that Angus was wearing a HubNut beanie hat as well. I have a HubNut calendar to check the speed of the Ami!

I like your channel. I like your style on the camera. I have a question. Why is your car not better range wise? It's a tiny thing, minimal weight, minimal space, minimal gadgets. The one thing it should have is amazing range. I'm used to fossil fuel vehicles where "adding 'lightness'" improves every dynamic for free (performance, handling, economy). So in that respect small cars should win?

The Ami has a relatively small 5.5kWh battery and a 6kW motor. As for performance, the vehicle is limited at 28 mph and I also think that Citroen have put limits on the torque of the motor.

For some reasons the start with Stephens The Bakers bridies reminds me of the scene in Pulp Fiction. "You know what they call a quarter pounder with cheese in Paris?" The Ami does not compare to a Red 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu, and you are not assassins( to my knowledge), but I do sense an homage.😎

In the vid the car was always on the move going up the hills with momentum. I would like to know how the car copes if you come to a complete stop on a hill. Does the car then pull away very slowly if at all?

The car should be able to do a hill start on those inclines - but I would not expect to get up much speed.

the wash at the end was like washing your dog after its been out for its walk. wash and towel down then going to play with its toys in the garage. may be what do you think the car needs that it does not have. what has it got that should be better.

Good Afternoon The Dashcam you have fitted on the Ami is it wired to the fuse box? Is it the free Road Angel supplied by Citroen Insurance! Are you doing a video on the installation of the dash cam

I power my dash cam from the Ami's USB connector (I have a 2 way splitter fitted so that I can also power my phone). The Ami's USB power outlet is only powered with the ignition key on. If you need to use the parking facilities of the dash cam you would need to run a permanent live feed from the 12v system or power using a USB power bank. I used a generic 'GoPro' type suction mount to mount the dash cam to the underside of the glass roof.

Citroen eventually sent me a front badge but I had 3D printed replacement badges already.

The passenger side door can be locked but the drivers side door could open from the outside. However you could reach out the driver's window and lock the door from the outside.

If the makers made them faster, allowed them to go further than 43 miles to the charge and gave them all the standard safety requirements of a car, they would make so much money. I can see car clubs and bike clubs buying them out in America.

The Ami is specifically targeted at the L6e low powered Quadricycle sector. The vehicle would be significantly more expensive if it moved to L7e (Heavy Quadricycle) or M1(car).

If they did all that they would cost 2x current price and would be a different proposition entirely. Check out the Isolino at IIRC @15k.
