Every day I see driving school cars with just the driver in and the standard of driving is far from perfect. These are the people teaching new drivers, how many times do you see cars with a green p plate on them and think how did they pass a test. I'm not talking about lack of experience but lack of road sense. All these taught by so called professionals.

Driving Instructors have taught most people who are on the road. Do you think they are taught to jump red lights, speed or use their phone? This is possibly one of the worst thought out comments I have every seen on here. Thanks anyway for your point of view. Ashley

It's funny how you are quick to point out faults with other professional drivers but get on your high horse when I mention driving instructors. Are you saying that driving instructors never speed, run red lights and use phones when driving. It must be great to be perfect. I bet if you got a clip of a fallow instructor doing one of these things you would not show it.

Don't forget tailgating on duals and motorways. It's at its worst in the first few miles as you leave or approach a city - everybody is doing it. If you leave a 2 second gap someone will slip into it. Biggest culprits are the people using a 2-3 mile stretch of dual or motorway to shorten their journey time. They're most likely to weave into Lane 2 to overtake a couple of cars, then weave back into Lane 1 to get off. It makes trying to keep a safe following distance a constant challenge until you are about 5 miles away from a major urban centre.

ok i must admit that i did it today, out of a lot of factors but this videos shows how horrific it might go. Thank a lot for the videos they definitely help. I will never do a red light jump again lol, cuz i only look at the cars and pedestrians really are invisible sometimes. the situation was that it is an inclined road and i was going kinda fast (40 kph) and i wanted to turn right and it was orange and turned red just a meter behind so i continued. My problem and a lot of new drivers is that they forget about the rules and only drive.

the Mini at 9.40, to bring International Driving Styles onto the discussion. This is something that is done all the time in Saudi Arabia. 4 lane carriageways, most people will drive in the 3rd lane they call it "the second to fastest lane" or they refer to is as the "safest" lane. The speed limit might be 120kph but they will do 80 max in the 3rd lane.

I take the same attitude to red lights as train drivers. A red light to me is a signal at danger and passing it is declared as a SPAD (signal passed at danger). Depending on how servere the incident, at worst, you could loose your licence on the trains. Should be the same for all drivers regardless of the qualification or vehicle.

I had a taxi driver try to fight me once because I came up to a closed lane in the right lane which was the one that closed further up but there was a motorway exit and a lot of existing traffic in the left lane but when I tried to join the traffic in the left lane about halfway to the cones this taxi driver wouldn't let me in and a bus driver already denied me so I angled me wheels and slowly moved when there was a gap but he came jolting forward, got out of his taxi and started trying my passenger door and screaming at me to tell him where I lived. Happened between Hamilton and motherwell in Scotland

I'm not sure if jumping red lights is another of those fads drivers seem to get every few years. Remember the one where the car coming in the other direction at night would put their lights on high beam a millisecond before they'd passed you, blinding you? Another I noticed a couple of years ago was cutting corners, even a blind corner on a country lane, the car coming in the opposite direction would have one wheel over the central line. The face of the woman in the yellow Mini who was doing this and caused me to brake hard is still in my mind, a look of distain that I was one the opposite side where she wanted to go. Those seem to have stopped being 'in vogue' now, and it's the red light jump that's the new 'thing' to do.

You gotta show some love to the guy in the Mercedes-Benz also. What a fine champ for thanking you, a stationary vehicle, whom had to pick a suitable place to stop in, considering that was an entry point. I still would have preferred to just wait as the vehicle, whom had to yield to any other vehicles, but most of all, on a serious note... since his vehicle had its nose coming into his choice of lane before his eyesight would, he could have had up to 70 tonnes hit him quite well.

Ashley, you'd surely have to admit that the general standard of driving in the UK is absolutely abysmal. How so many of these people get through a test baffles me. I was on the A1 South of Doncaster recently and for the 2nd time in 8 months there was a big tail back, at the front of it again was a young female driver grimly hanging on to her steering wheel and rigidly staring ahead at the grand speed of 35 miles an hour, again I called the Police, hands free of course. Passing the driving test is only a measure of ability to pass the test, it doesn't make anyone a good driver, only working on your skills and abilities as a driver will do that, sadly most don't bother and it is getting worse as the police have as in so many areas given up on roads policing.

8:24 Shows that common sense does not come with age, and I bet she was blaming the Merc for blocking her reverse. I passed my test in 93, and there's been a few changes to the driving test and the laws on the road since, so when retirement comes there'll be more, I think when you retire or have been driving for a set amount of years you have to take a refresher test, maybe like an advanced course, many times I've seen pensioners driving dangerously (not saying young folk don't), but assuming they passed in their teens, that's almost 50yrs of changes they're ignoring because they don't know.

I had an ambulance driver yell at me for not going through a red light to make way for them before. It was 2 lanes of traffic, and I was alreay stationary at the red light at the head of the line. There was another car to my right, and pavement to my left. The ambulance was about 2' from the back of my car, so I was trapped. I saw the ambulance right behind me, but I knew that moving forward over the line might make me liable for a £50 fine. The ambulance driver blasted the horn with the sirens going, and the other medic got out, banged on my window, and told me that they were responding to a choking child, and it's a time critical matter. I told her politely but firmly "No, I'm not moving until the light is green, or an officer in uniform tells me to." The light changed about a minute later, and I got out of their way as quickly as possible, because obviously their work is literally life or death. I never found out what the outcome was, but I sincerely hope the child was okay. I don't hold a rudge against the ambulance driver, because I know they were only passsionate about their job, and wanted nothing more than to save the child from dying. I can understand the safety concerns. But I still think it's a ridiculous law. It placed me in a very nasty situation where I'm constantly asking myself "Did I just allow a child to die?" over and over. But then another voice says "But you were powerless - You would have been fined £50 for helping." This was years ago, but it still goes over and over in my mind, because I just don't know.

You have a dash. Do you pass on your recordings of these drivers that jump a red light? School bus? If he/she had any children in that vehicle they should be sacked. He/she had plenty of time top stop. The red Jag too. As you stated, 'What if that young girl started to cross. Next time, and there will be a next time, there could indeed be a young lady or child (anyone) that decides to cross. At that speed, the individual would most certainly suffer serious injury, even death.

Do you ever report any of this to the police? I uploaded some of my dash cam footage to the portal and nothing has ever been done about it. This includes LOADS of peoples on their phones and people jumping reds!

It was on TV the other day, it actually takes about 15 minutes instead of 10+ hours to deal with now the portal is live. And it is everybody's business to ensure the roads are kept safe.

Honestly im thinking, all of these drivers that are passing you at the last moment only to run a red light are purely focussed on whens the fastest oppertunity to pass this fucking slow ass learner car

8:32 The gap left isn't enough for emerging traffic to be able to see approaching traffic & vice versa when turning right though. The car in front should have stopped before the junction. Cars behind can overtake from behind and turn left when you leave a gap.

@@ashley_neal If traffic is jammed getting out of the junction ( the pedestrians were on the horizon before traffic moved ) and on the main road but clear the other way its a safe maneuver especially if you use your horn. We have two junctions on two lane roads, Medlock st into Little Peter st & Deansgate into Bridgewater st in Manchester where drivers commonly turn left from the right hand lane through stationary traffic jammed up.
