It is a pleasant 2.5 hour drive from Queenstown to bluff. You can explore some of the southland cities of New Zealand in this trip. Invercargill is the regional capital and commercial hub of Southland. Founded in the 1850s, it is New Zealand's southernmost city - and one of the southernmost cities in the world. It's conveniently located along the Southern Scenic Route and worth visiting if you have extra time or are enjoying slow travel around the South Island. As one of the oldest European settlements in New Zealand, Bluff has a rich history and many interesting attractions. It also offers many wonderful short walks, both bush and coastal, that showcase the stunning scenery and views.
