Join me driving in Ghetto Miami. This is a drive along through all the bad parts like Little Haiti which is right next to Liberty City, Overtown, the Art District, Midtown, Wynwood, and Downtown. You will see all the characteristics of the hood, nothing like the Miami they want you to see like Miami Beach, expensive cars, and beautiful women in bikinis. Use this as your travel guide !

@@railrol82 I went to North FL, almost to the GA state line. I want to eventually get out of FL all together and go to the Midwest. Housing is cheap up that way and the people are still relatively polite. If you can brave the cold winters, the Midwest is still a great place to live.

@@railrol82 well, it depends. I went to Tallahassee. To be fair and honest with you, the locals here are awesome. The people moving here, it's really a mixed bag. There are more Miamians moving here too. By the year more and more are coming here. Let me put it this way, I have run into equally as rude and self-entitled people up here as I did all my life in Miami. Rude people are everywhere. I did travel once to Ohio, and loved it there. The Midwest vibe gells with me pretty well because my father is originally from Michigan.

I dont know man, I been to Miami several times, rode tri-rail, the Metrobus, the Metrorail, drove also, now for anyone dosnt know the area, Where the video end I wouldn't consider downtown, but he was getting there, Otherwise pretty much all of whats around Miami Airport is not very nice, Allapatah, Liberty City,, but I mean while not being the most glamerous, if you mind your business and dont look at people like they are aliens you shouldnt have a problem, but if your a tourist no need to go there, mostly residential anyway. So rule of thumb, You have Downtown miami, pretty most of the southern part of the city is very nice and safe to a certain extend, starts to deteriorate if you go too much south. Then you have Miami beach which well, unless your really wealthy you probebly dont live there. But its nice. What I find sad about the city is that they hide all the truth, what tourist see while driving on the freeway is lined palm tree with fountains and such, but then behind those trees are run down houses with people barely affording food. Too much differance in wealth in this world unfortunalely.

Little Havana always brings back good memories. My grandpa used to take me and my siblings all around Miami to see the sights. I noticed that downtown still has some old Hanging Wire Signals like the one at 11:05. There were even some 1960s-70s era Cantilever Lights at 13:58. Hopefully the FEC and Brightline will complete the Miami Station within the year, I can't wait to see the first passenger train roll up to Downtown since 1964! Awesome Video!

I been living in The Bronx, NYC for about 18 years, but I still consider myself a Miamian. I'm about to be 34, I spent half my life+ a year added in NYC. But I never forgot about being born and raised in Miami. I was born in Homestead and raised in Cutler Ridge. Some of the best time was getting on the bus and metro when I was 14-15(1998-1999). I still remember my mother taking me and my sister to Bayside in the early 90s, back when she worked in downtown. Me and my family moved to The Bronx in Oct. 2000. I was born in Homestead air force base in Homestead to New York Rican parents. Through the years, I visited Miami as much as I can. Still in touch with childhood friends. I was there the last 2 Februaries.

You came close to showing the construction on Brightline but didn't. Would really like to see the project, especially how they managed to bring a new rail line into the downtown of a major city. I have to think that it is because of the ghetto/Overtown conditions that they pulled this off. I can't imagine doing this in many other developed cities. It would not be possible.

Thank you for the tour of the "other side" of Miami. Did my comment about Miami inspire you to show the real Miami? I still wonder, where has peoples pride gone, when I see trash built up along streets or caught on fences. My yard is in desperate need to have the grass mowed, it is kind of hard to do it when you get four of five days of rain, then it does not warm up enough to dry it out where it is easy to cut. Being ill most of the time does not help much either. Will have to do a quick drive through of my town, then try to figure out how to upload it. My home is in a semi-rural town in the Willamette Valley sitting astride the UP/Amtrac and the Willamette and Pacific Railroad(WPRR) lines. I do not have your knowledge about the crossing equipment, but I can at least try to catch one of the trains coming through town. One of our lines run down the middle of one of our streets. - - - - - - A short story about that. In town there is either a 10 or a 15mph speed restriction on the RR. One day dad was out with the traffic radar, one of those old huge units that were mounted on the outside of the car, when the train started down Holly Street. He clocked the train at 20mph and the engineer was not sounding his horn at the cross streets and congested areas. Dad got a head of the train, pulled across the tracks so that his lights could be seen by the engineer, facing the train. He stopped the train and cited the engineer for excessive speed in a restricted speed zone and failure to signal at the crossings. I guess today the city police cannot do that anymore. Things have changed a lot since the 1960's. Again thank you for showing the other side of Miami, with out this I would continued to seen Miami as the tourist heaven that I grew up knowing it as.. //es//ShellyAnn, I learned something new.

Even today, I would say about 99% of our LEO's are, like dad. Growing up the only friends I had were the State Troopers. Because there were so many LEO's around the house most of the kids did not want to come over. When the LEO's visited, I would wash and wax their cars, if they had the time. In those days, all State Troopers carried Winchester Model 94s in a boot an the drivers door, I would even clean their rifle, again if they had the time. Hey it got me a $5 bill each time. After dad was gunned down, we had Troopers over to the house all the time. Missed the school bus once and got a ride to school in a Trooper's car, that was fun. Even after dad got home from the hospital they were always over to help dad with patrolling the town, it was a one man police force. Dad was also the Dog Catcher and owned the only ambulance within 30 miles. Kind of wish I was back there, when things were so much simpler and everybody got along. No matter who or what you were.

I don't like driving through bad parts. I have a few bad parts in Nashville, but not too many, as some are good places to be.

Just went to Miami for the first time yesterday and man this guy recording the video is right. It’s really ghetto. Like we have ghettoes where I’m from but Miami is one HUGE ghetto. Even Wynwood is ghetto. Although it’s been fixed up you just get a ghetto vibe because it’s an old industrial area and literally one block from the Wynwood Walls are the projects. Homeless people were begging us for money left and right there. Not hating on anyone’s situation, just stating facts.

RailROL82 it’s pretty bad man. I feel like Miami is definitely overhyped. As far as the celebrities that glamorize it. Don’t get me wrong, Miami Beach is nice. But to get there you gotta drive through a LOT of rough stuff. Blocks and blocks and blocks of it. I mean, I knew Miami was hood, but until you go there and see it you really have no idea. I live in Orlando, and we definitely have hoods here, but nowhere near the size of Miami. It’s unfortunate honestly it would be nice to see it cleaned up but honestly the way they go about it isn’t right. Tearing down the bad parts and building unaffordable housing isn’t the solution (gentrification.) It’s definitely way bigger than that and should be done the right way. Displacing people doesn’t really solve anything. Another place very similar to Miami is New Orleans. People idolize that city like it’s so great. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful for its history and culture but it really is one big dump. I don’t see what all the fuss is about.

Wow it is a nice city, I’ve never been there, the scary part to an outsider they would never know that’s the hood like “little Haiti 🇭🇹 “. At least there were 3 railroad crossings to see. :)
