Piece of history you’re driving right there young brother. You’re going to regret selling it later.

CravingClassics it’s crazy being that old guy that talks about the days back when he was a kid and these classics and many more of this era were driving on every street in town and in every driveway on the block! I’m bummed I don’t have a collection 😂

aw damnit! over two years late. Don't guess whoever you sold it to would be tired of it by now? I would love to own that little jewel. They All had slop in the steering. It could be tightened up with that jam nut on the steering box on the frame. Cheers from Louisiana.

I bet driving one of those old antique vans is like driving a cabover semi except you're not up as high, not as wide nor long since those old school vans don't have a nose in the front just like cabover semis which makes them easier to maneuver in than in cars & semis that have the noses in the fronts.

@@CravingClassics & vans didn't have noses in the fronts until the 70s. I like the Chevy & GMC vans produced from 1971 through 1996 which are the ones that have the short slanted nose.

I actually like the 2008 ones a lot, but I seriously don’t know why ford added v10 engines on it. Whenever the driver of my transit place or the drivers of the ambulances accelerates, it almost sounds like a monster 4 cylinder engine, and not a regular or diesel V8 engine. Yes I’m actually talking about the E-450s that have that type of V10 engines

Are all of them that sloppy in the steering or was the steering very warn out? The motor on the other hand was tuned like a Swiss watch.. love those old ford i6 motors.. nice build..

Every one I've owned had play.. this van had only 25,000 miles on it, wasn't used much. The little 170cid was awesome! It started up after sitting for 20 years. Only needed the basic tune up and a valve adjustment. Thanks for watching!

CravingClassics I know a lot of those cab overs are weird steering, which is why i asked.. i need a new home depot runner, and figured something i can fix myself would be perfect.. thanks for the honest feedback..

@@CravingClassics I've been driving 2011 Ford econoline e350's at around 320,000 miles for work. I'm impressed they're still running, but there's a ton of steering wheel play, and semi trucks passing on the 80 mph interstate feels like they're going to push me off the road one of these days. The whole damn van rocks, especially in the passing lane.

that van has been cared for, vary nice to see, i have a 65 i would love to know what rpm read at 60mph this is something ive always wondered about. this is the second 65 econoline ive owned i blew a engine in the first one running around 75 mph for eleven hour strait from va to fla rpm please for 50mph and 60mph
@CravingClassics
@CravingClassics 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The 170 3 speed 4:11 gear combo at around 55 mph would be singing around 4000. Unfortunately I sold this one and shortly after the new owner pushed it past 70 going down the highway. It threw a rod out the side of the block. I suggested a rear gear change .. as this was used as a delivery van for auto upholstery and the original owner wanted that higher rear gear for the heavy loads. Do you recall what rpm it was spinning when yours blew?

@@CravingClassics Thanks alot, i never had a rpm tack, but at 75 mph it was roaring! the one i have now, seems happy at 55 any more than that, seems like it needs to shift but its only a three one the tree. so i just enjoy the ride . i just sprayed the whole inside of mine white looks really simuler, but mine is a little rustic compared to yours.

This had similar issues, if they overheat things warp quick. The cylinder head was rebuilt and I went with the new header.
