Good video, now I want to know --- at highway speeds how fast can you go while still turning off the engine occasionally (into EV mode) ? I have Accord 9 and it can do it up until ~70 mph (though way too briefly for any real gain which is why I prefer 60-65). Certainly at 80 mph it's running the engine exclusively and not charging the battery any more.

Yes, it’s a safety feature for pedestrians. In EV mode the engine is so quiet that it can’t be heard, so the noise is played to let pedestrians know there’s something approaching them.

@darkshift693 ай бұрын
Not far. 5-10 min tops. 2024 Touring Hybrid. 4k miles. Played with all of it. Battery is small. It's not meant to sustain itself in EV mode indefinitely though. It's meant to run on both gasoline and ev, where both work together, and it's constantly recharging. If you drive aggressively, 35 miles per gallon to 45 miles per gallon is not unheard of over the course of a 10 mile trip, but also getting 45 to 60 miles per gallon is not unheard of either. I fill up a 12.9 gallon tank every 500 miles. I usually fill up at 10 1/2 gallons for $25 and it lasts me almost 3 weeks.

@leutrimtopalli then your battery dies? I don't get the question. Again, some models have a plug in option for recharge. But if your battery dies, then you would have to run the ICE for a while. There is a normal car battery in (at least in KIA HEV) the car to run the starter and other components.

Regren will charge it literally 75% of the time. Coming on a offramp on a highway to a stop sign (about .2 miles), You will regen most of the battery. Battery is small 1.2kw. The engine (IMO) serves as a generator most of the time. You are buying a hybrid for the efficiency. on my commute 20 miles highway, I get around 46mpg (rated at 41 highway).

On highway cruising... quite interesting what I've noticed... Cruise control will use the EV mode way more than not using cruise. It will utilize EV mode beyond 25%, i've seen it go up to around the 50% mark. It also will not allow you to go into EV mode with the heater on. I got over 54mpg highway at 70mph (5mph over the limit). That's crazy considering the car is rated at 41mpg highway. Had two of them before hand and instead of replacing the battery at 30k miles under warranty, honda decided to do recalls to conserve the battery and take the battery assist function from stop and go functions, dude to battery degradation. I’ll never purchase a honda hybrid again! Even if the new one is way faster lol By the way lol Everything is connected to the battery! Parts are freaking insane! Fan clutch on an older civic $200. $1400 for a hybrid! Let’s not talk about other items that’s just an example lol

Be aware: Honda Accord Hybrids do not come with a spare tire. You do get a tire repair kit and an air pump. Just visualize yourself trying to repair a flat tire in the middle of the night in the rain rain on a car that doesn't have a jack or tire iron. If it wasn't so dangerous It would be comical. Since I have been making these comments Honda has come up with a spare tire kit you can buy for $500 that gives you the missing content.
