@@FSX239 it's not a band type CVT. It's an "ecvt" there are no gears, it electric off the line, then switches between ev/hybrid/gas while driving.

@@FSX239 The popular usage of many technical terms does not quite match their correct definitions. Which causes confusion when technology changes. Like your confusion here. For example, "transmission" means the act of transmitting power from one place (the engine) to another (the wheels). But the device in a car that is called "the transmission" is known more for the fact that it can change the gear ratio (that is, ENGINE_RPM/WHEEL_RPM) while accomplishing this act, than the act itself. Most transmissions do it in discrete steps. A "CVT," or "Continuously Variable Transmission," means one that can vary the ratio continuously. What you are thinking of, when you say "CVT," is probably a transmission that uses pulleys and belts (or chains). It works only in low-power vehicles, has characteristics that some find annoying, and can be unreliable. That isn't what is in this car. So in the sense you are probably thinking, it does not have a CVT. In most situations, this car is serial hybrid. The engine drives a generator, not the wheels. The car is propelled by only an electric motor, not the engine. It is, in correct technical terms, an electric vehicle. But it is not a "battery electric vehicle," it is a "battery plus generator" electric vehicle. So, while the engine is running, there is no meaningful relationship between its RPM and the wheels' RPM. You can still calculate the ratio of the two, and it does "vary continuously," but it has no significance. Still, the EPA requires the car's sticker to list what type of "transmission" it has. So "CVT" is correct, even though it does not have pulleys and belts, or even a device that you would call "the transmission." [The exception is at highway speeds, when the car is not accelerating. A clutch engages to make it a parallel hybrid instead of a serial hybrid. The engine is connected *_directly_* to the wheels by a fixed gear ratio, MPH=RPM/37, The engine produces 34 horsepower, not what the car needs. The traction motor, which can also act as a generator, adjusts this to the power needed by the wheels by either charging, or discharging, the battery.]

Unpopular opinion, but in this economy and at this price point, I'll take a 44 mpg hybrid over a slightly-less-slow 2.0T. The hybrid has comfort, technology, space, and fuel economy. Everything you want in a daily driver. If you want a fast car, go buy an actual fast car.

Agreed I've had the opportunity to rent the Accord twice. Once with Avis it was brand new and recently with hurts that one had 20,000 miles. I was going to dismiss the car because I only got 33 mi to the gallon on the one that was brand new. But on the one that had 20,000 mi on it. I got 43.8mpg. so I guess the new one that I rented previously had not been broken yet. I like the car but it's pouring outside and the brand new Camry I saw at the auto show in la, is just as outside.

(Also for anyone wondering why the sport trims are hybrid only: It probably is partially because auto manufacturers have to sell more high efficiency vehicles than low efficiency vehicles. There are laws that have been slowly moving this goal post, and we're just reaching the point where manufacturers have to spend effort to make sure they are meeting regulations of how many high efficiency vehicles are sold.)

Honda needs to bring back the natrually aspirated 3.0L v6 toyota wont sell. My 07 accord sedan with 3.0L v6 has less injectors than a base camry of today but 2 more cylinders. Honda has an accord that undercuts a 2.5L camry and now all their missing is a v6 that undercuts toyotas v6 gatekeepting with their trd stonewall on the v6s. A 3.0L v6 again would give a slightly lighter engine too, you get the smoothness but more power than a 2.5L camry so itll handle better than the 3.5L camry in the corners but also be faster than a 2.5L camry. Higher quality but less price because to get the v6 in toyota if you dont want trd yiu have to pay for a luxury model and we dont want that. We wantna timeless dead reliable no extra fluff v6 that is above an LE camry but below an xse camry and undercuts a trd v6 with half a liter less displacement but also less cost and you dont hsvr yo have stuffer suspension. Honda does good steering setup anyway. We need a v6 in a daily driver thats not a trd and is more affordable judt like my 07 accord sedan. It has caste aluminum air intake. Why did they care about quality under the hood more in 2007? Its gotta last. The 07 accord sedan v6s werent what they couldve been. Theyre still what toyota wont sell today so thst goes to show old honda was better than new toyota. I like my 3.0L v6 accord

I drive a 2008 Civic Hybrid and am largely concerned that no modern vehicle is better than it in terms of efficiency and design. My partner took this for a drive (the Sport Hybrid trim) yesterday because it was the closest thing we could find to our Civic that also is new. They were blown away at how it feels just like driving our Civic except if it had better suspension, a more powerful drivetrain, and more comfortable seats. The part of this that stands out to me more than anything else is that the drivetrain is completely different between our car and this one, yet they feel so similar. That doesn't happen by accident. I think they knew how smooth they made hybrids before and make sure to keep that / restore it. (I haven't tried a Honda hybrid in between ours and the current year model, so I can't speak to those.) Most vehicles I've driven besides my Civic just have shitty drive feel. The most experience I have with a hybrid besides it are Toyotas, and they all suck at smooth consistent power delivery, they feel mushy.

I got a 24 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport (Base trim). I love it so far. Great MPG I average about 50mpg in the city and 44ish on the highway. I get better mpg on highway when you use cruise control and put it in ECO mode. My only complaint with the car is there is no heated side mirrors unless you upgrade to the sport-L trim. Which is a few grand more and you get leather seats. Heated side mirrors should be standard. The car has some pep in it's step for sure. For a hybrid!

@@TheStraightPipes LOL! Appliance - I love the description. Yeah. But with the 2.0T model, Honda turned that "appliance" into a sort of performance family sedan. It's surprisingly quick and fun to drive - I know, I have one. With the 2.0T 10th gen Accord, Honda appears to have said, "Why not make a family sedan "fun, sporty and quick?" Now with 11th gen, Honda said, "We were just JOKING! - NO FUN FOR YOU! It's like Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown. Honda: Are you listening? - this 11th gen has gotten soundly "booed" on most forums. Using baseball parlance, The 10th gen was a home run. This 11th gen is like a weak grounder to the pitcher only for Honda to get thrown out at first. But people said they didn't like the 10th gen Civic. I like the 9th gen Civic hatch the best myself of the modern Civics, especially the FK2 Type R, and also the original 8th gen Civic "UFO" hatch (which obviously the 9th gen is an extensive facelift of, just like the 9th gen sedan is a facelift of the 8th gen sedan). But people said they didn't like the radical styling, futuristic two-tier dash, Honda Jazz torsion beam rear suspension etc and also that they wanted conservative looks & a conservative interior like a Mk7 VW Golf or Passat... Which Honda have now delivered, yet people complain about. Can't win I guess! [For clarity I do like the sharp lines of the 10th gen sedan and hatch, they come across an evolution of the 8th gen sedan and hatch -- especially the hatch which had a similar character line up the side. But all these people said they wanted conservative, reserved, "mature" styling like a VW. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ]

@@NayanPai218 I mean everyone has their tastes but I walk the walk everything I own is a Honda and I'm stupid and young enough that brand passion (mostly) overwhelms financial sense, but currently the Hyundai products are more compelling and honda-y to me than this new lineup. Hell I LOVED the 10g type R but when I went to buy it cash there was nothing even close to MSRP and this is pre COVID. Idk if Honda will succeed with trying to get older or more euro buyers to buy in but I really hope they don't honestly. The whole reason ppl pick Honda over Toyota is character, the Acura RL line some of the best cars money could buy but no one did because they were bland looking. Don't know when they'll learn the lesson that the kids that grew up watching gutted civics with turbos maul the streets want something that looks distinctly Honda. Sales don't lie, 10g civic spiked in sales from 2016-2019 and even considering "shortages" the 11g just aren't moving like that. There are almost twice as many 11gs on the lot by year and that's even considering the shortage..
