I miss the open floor, almost modular style of the van/mini-bus that they were showing off when it first was shown off. Now the interior reminds me of standard SUVs- I’m still happy we’re getting it though, a great big roomy EV is definitely needed in the market

It would be great if we could have the cargo version here in the US. I would love to have an open floor plan to be able to outfit my work gear any way I want. I really don’t care about pallet format because I’m not working with pallets. I just want space. Hopefully pricing for a utilitarian configuration would be attractive. VW/Audi always seems to be toward the upper end of the price pain scale for their cars.

Depending on the price, I'd buy a cargo version if they brought it in. I don't think the pallet size thing is as big a deal breaker as they think, that' thinking of it as only a freight vehicle, and I do less than pallet deliveries as well as flipping storage units, so I just need a vehicle with decent range and lots of space, shelves would be nice, but lack of isn't a deal breaker. I'm currently watching Canoo as they seem to be the only small cargo vehicle planned by anyone

The buzz is my favorite EV by far but it’s simply too expensive for what it is. I also would never want the extended version. I’d want short wheelbase, bigger battery, rear windows that open, higher ground clearance, and I’m also wondering about the noise inside that seems a bit high in some videos. I feel like it will be 2040 before I can find an EV replacement for my vehicle without compromises. I’m even picky when it comes to ICE vehicles. I guess I just feel that when spending that kind of money compromise shouldn’t be in the vocabulary.

The ID. Buzz reminds me a little bit of a 1969 Chevy G10 delivery spec van I owned which was a super practical vehicle. The G10 was very nimble in tight urban spaces given its short wheel base. I parked toe to toe with my roommate’s Mustang II, and the G10 was a couple of inches shorter. I’d be quite happy with a short wheelbase cargo ID. Buzz if the price were right.

VW vans are near and dear to my heart. Used to love to ride in them as a kid! So question about the CCS2 socket.. isn’t that compatible with our CCS1 charging cables here in NA? I didn’t know about CCS1 vs 2 until I asked Branden a dumb question. I think i remember reading that the CCS2 socket has 2 additional sockets for 3 phase on the AC part of the connector - but the type 2 socket still lines up with the single phase ccs1 AC portion???

@WSandig

I would guess the DC fast charging works the same, but the plug is different, so it may work with an adapter. For AC charging, european EVs need 3 phases with 230V to neutral each (at 16A, 11kW in total). So that's not gonna work in the US whatsoever. The type2 socket is a bit bigger than the J1772 plug and has a slightly different shape. Also, the pins are in different locations.
@brandenflasch

The problem with all these Volkswagens is just the price. When they started, their cars were affordable and for everyone, just average people - hence the name of the company. Nowadays, it's just a joke. The car I learned to drive in was a Golf 7 and while it was pretty specced out, the price tag of over 50000 € - hard to swallow, in my opinion. And it didn't even feel super high quality. Yes, it was sturdy, nothing rattled but at the end, the interior is full of obvious plastic and you immediately notice, how they wanted to save money in production but keep the price for consumers high. I know that this is the case with probably all other car manufacturers out there, in today's world things aren't build to last anymore, but I'm just disappointed. See, our Skoda is essentially a Passat and from the same company, it was used but nearly brand new and cost less than 19000 €. And it almost feels the same as the Golf I mentioned. Oh, and regarding the Buzz' interior: I think it looks way to cheap and plasticky.

Whoever VW manager gave this car for review in usa should be fired on the spot. Giving a vehicle with teasing options that won't ever be present on the us version. A vehicle with an old software version. A vehicle with maps not updated for usa. In fact, the idea that cars nowadays don't have full maps already installed and FREE updates, is appalling and beyond scummy. All cars should have full maps imported from google and each manufacturer, if they want to apply a different skin, is their own deal, but not to offer full maps coverage, JUST WOW.

Ignoring the price being its biggest sin, VW did let down on the BUZZ, because of all its hype and buzz. I could understand why the US Buzz is gonna need a long wheel base version. But it's really unacceptable that in Europe or the US, to have just 7 seats you'd need the LWB when there's clearly enough room for a 3rd bench in the short wheel base. When Captain chairs are also your only option, that speaks volumes that VW values exclusivity more than accessibility which should not be the case with electrification. There should be no excuse to not have 3 row benches like the Citroen e-Spacetourer

Do you not have CCS in the USA?

@intothemultiverse1033 Yes, the problem is that the chargers are so few and far inbetween, and when you can find them, it is a 80% chance that not one of them will work.

@@watershed44 We have them every 20 miles here on the west coast. And like 90% of them work

Yes, but it's Type 1, while in Europe they have Type 2 CCS.

@@shredmas That's not what Kyle has found and others when they have been there to visit. BOTTOM LINE is that the EV is a play thing for the rich, and will never be practical for ordinary people.

@@watershed44 Wrong the Chevy Bolt is $25,500 before incentives of 7500.00 fed and $3k state which brings the price down to 15k. I've made $70,000 doing uber & Lyft with mine. I've put 90k miles on it and travel all over CA, OR and NV. Chargers along I5 from San Francisco are plentiful and I have about a 95% success rate with Chargepoint and about a 80% with EA. Watershed what kind of EV do you long range drive? If you are having so much bad luck charging.

Ok! Thanks for the same video basically that you've already done but in the U.S.. I watched hoping for something anything on the lwb U.S. spec like are we going to get windows that roll down are we going to get more cupholders for the backseat passengers and not those flimsy tray tables that looks like an accident waiting to happen. It would be nice to add a moonroof as a bonus. I don't think this van is ready yet for the U.S. market maybe 2025/26 or at least there's an embargo on information other than the picture floating around of the tester lwb that's not enough to sell it for me I need more info.

VW needs to add “Camp” or “Dog” mode when the Buzz is released in the US. It is a must have if you want to sleep in the back at a campground!
