The Satellite Town Ring Road (NH 948A) is a 280.8-kilometre ring road under construction around Bangalore city, the capital of Karnataka state in India.
The project is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under Bharatmala Pariyojana. The entire STRR project involves a length of 367 kilometres around Bengaluru that will connect the eight major satellite towns.
The NHAI is targeting to complete the first phase, involving the 82-kilometre stretch between Dobbspet and Ramanagara, in about three years.

😅All said and done the High way authorities India should enforce that heavy vehicles like trucks should travel only in the left lane and allow right lane for fast moving light vehicles. Othetwise the car drivers has to break the traffic rules which stipulates no overtaking from left.

Indeed this is not an Expressway. This is a Satellite Ring Road which bypasses Bangalore City but connects Expressways and Highways along its route. However, if they had made this a 6/8 lane access controlled highway, it would have ensured smooth flow of traffic for heavy vehicles along the route.

The whole project which is appox 280kms is divided into 3 phases. Currently, Phase 1 which is Dabaspete-Hoskote section has been inaugrated

If you are planning to drive from Pune, follow Gmaps and enter the STRR at Dabaspete, travel all the way and exit at Hoskote. From there on, you can take the triupati highway and deviate at Chittor and head towards Vellore. By taking the above route, you will avoid entering Bangalore saving time and fuel. Also the road up and until Chittor is a breeze. Let me know if you have any queries.
