What breaks a fast? Does tea, or coffee or cream or sugar break the fast? How about diet soda? Dr Jason Fung discusses what you can take during a fast and how this affects weight loss. These fasting variations can still be very effective for weight loss. Check out my blog at / drjasonfung

I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. kzfaq.infoUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. This is Sooooooooooooooooo true,,,,,,,,, but it doesn't only apply to food.. I use to make fun of people that were cheaters on their spouse.. (youtube will censor if I use the word for it) The excuse everyone uses when caught is "It was an accident" ..... They just happen to accidently both be naked in a bedroom all by themselves, and accidently fall into said bed and....... you get the rest of the accidents that happened..... Its a matter of what is important to you.. Not only physically but morally.... We have become a morally bankrupt nation and I believe it was done on purpose.

True. My scale didn't budge for a full month, but my pants were loose, belly flatter, etc. It drove me crazy! About the 5th week my scale started the incredibly slow downward movement. Fasting in changing my life. Fasting has even helped me move away from drinking alcohol. I've lost over 35 lbs since January 2nd. I've slowly stepped up to a regular daily 16/8 fast, and now I can easily do a 36-hour fast that I have done twice this year so far. My brain just works better. I am more productive. I look forward to getting up in the morning because my sleep is improving. My resting heart rate, BMI, visceral fat, and blood pressure are all headed down. My inflammation and the constant pain in my lower back and legs are gone. My sex life is back after over two years in the toilet. The power of fasting cannot be overstated.

I use the tape measure and the scale . Frustratingly , at those times when the scale just won’t budge and I was doing great on my eating , fasting and exercise, I would see the inches go down. I was building muscle and burning fat. I always say, “Jeans don’t lie!” So, if you get caught in a “gravity storm “ with the scale don’t worry, success is only time away. Best of health to you!

This is what I love about you. Eric Berg and Mindy always come across so strict about what you can and can't have during your fast. Which makes it too hard for some people to start. If one can have coffee with milk and diet zero calorie drinks etc. Then they can keep going through the fast. Makes it so much easier to succeed. ❤

I started intermittent fasting in September 2019. I sometimes do a 72 hour fast. I cut out sugar pasta bread alcohol. I started jumping rope weight training walking. My starting weight 223 pounds my weight as of today 162 pounds. My lowest weight since I started was 152 pounds but I just thought that was maybe too low so started reducing my fasting window a little. Stopped blood pressure meds my energy is great I feel younger and people say I look like I’m 40 and I’m 57. This really worked for me. There’s rough days at the start, but your health is worth it.

In 14 months of Fasting I was able to go from Level-2 Obese to Normal Weight (BMI < 25). The last few pounds were the hardest, because they didn't want to go away. I was on a 18 hour fast followed by 6 hour window for 2 meals. I switched to OMAD (One meal a day) to lose the final few pounds. That worked very well. I still want to lose 1 more pound and then I'll switch back to a 18/6 ---> 20/4 pattern to maintain the weight. A year and a half ago I wouldn't have believed this was possible.

@BobDiaz123
@BobDiaz123 3 жыл бұрын
Danielle I suggest you come at it through a series of steps. Go a week or two with 18/6., then go another week or two at 20/4. I find 20/4 challenging, so it's a mind game to bring yourself to follow through. After that pick a day and try OMAD. I find that from 11AM to 2PM it the toughest time, so this is when I exercise. In my case go for a multi-mile walk. That seems to take my mind off the hunger and during the walk, I don't feel hungry. I first tried OMAD as only two days of the week. It was about two months later that I decided to switch to OMAD every day. I'm now about one pound away from my target, so it's only one more week. It is a challenge, but you have to really set your mind to just push hard to do it. I hope this helps.

Water or a Pellagrino during the day. Following Dr. Westman's page 4 list of foods. Been keto for 5 years and am such a turtle at losing! Thinking I'm eating to much, so really watching my carbs in my vegetables, and stopping my eating when full! I'll weigh and measure on the first and see if this woe is helpful! The way I've always looked at it is you want to remain in fat burning mode upon waking up at least until noon. Took some getting used to but I always add whipping cream to my coffee which seems to work. I have a glass of 1/2 tsp salt water and on days I do OMAD I'll drink lemon water with Stevia throughout the day. I do about 2 OMADS a week, typically Monday and Thursday. Wow, I've been doing this now for 4 years! I wasn't fat but was very unhealthy and definitely needed to keep my weight below a certain level. Your work has been a blessing.

In my 20s I was on an unintentional OMAD diet due to my hectic work schedule - black tea sweetened with brown sugar in the morning and evening and a full large meal for lunch and no snacking in between (always on the phone, in a meeting or chasing a deadline). My weight stayed in the 140 - 160 range which was slim for me. Once I started to eat 3 meals a day along with family commitments and work stress the weight piled on, I developed PCOS then Graves and now Hashimoto's (thyroiditis) disease and have been see-sawing weight-wise ever since. Read Dr Fung's book, Obesity Code, made sense but I made the mistake of trying to fit my lifestyle into a fasting regime and failed miserably. Then 2 weekends ago it occurred to me that my original diet was the key to maintaining a healthier weight and more energy so I've returned to that. Last week my challenge was pretty good ... no weight loss yet but improved focus and energy level.

Thank you again Dr Fung, everything you say about fasting makes perfect sense. Hopefully I can put it to some good use and start my own fasting journey.

I’ve been interested in fasting since about 2016 and tweaking my eating schedule to suit my lifestyle. Maybe I already knew the basics and felt the effects.... but I am very happy to have found your channel with so much succinct info and deeper knowledge of the anatomical effects. I’m sure I’ll be picking up your book soon. Thanks for doing what you do to get this info out. And also thank you for not ignoring the spiritual aspect!
